Feeling nostalgic I decided to write a list of my favourite TV programmes from my childhood. I'm sure I've missed loads of the ones I used to watch. But here's what I remember, in case anyone's interested. 😊

In no particular order.

Champion the Wonder Horse
Flipper
Casey Jones
Daktari
Blue Peter
Crackerjack
Vision On
Ask the Family
Top of the Pops
Top of the Form
Jukebox Jury
Robinson Crusoe
The Flashing Blade
The White Horses
Belle and Sébastien
Follyfoot
The Little House on the Prairie
Top Cat
Scooby Doo

I'm guessing we are of a similar vintage OP, I loved many of the same as you!

Also, The Brady Bunch, The Waltons, The Hardy Boys, Hart to Hart, Vegas and CHiPs.

I've never seen the Brady Bunch, or Vegas.

I used to watch The Waltons though, but only when I was babysitting for the next-door neighbours on Monday evenings. Couldn't watch it at home because it clashed with Panorama and my dad always wanted to watch that! I used to try to get the kids in bed so I could watch it in peace! 😂

I've just remembered another one! The Banana Splits. Anyone else remember that?

Anyone remember “Elephants Eggs in a Rhubarb Tree?” I think it was a nonsense verse show, like Jackanory, and I think the lovely Richard Beckinsdale used to read them. Vague memory of it, but it went ‘Hee hee hee, Elaphants eggs in a rhubarb tree”, it was so good.

You’re the only person I’ve met who knows about Daktari! My first crush was one of his assistants-can’t remeber his name, but the actor was called Hari Rhodes.

Just remembered another crush: Alias Smith and Jones, both of them.

Cerbonny · 15/06/2026 19:56

Tarzan anyone? I loved this. I'd forgotten about the very melodramatic opening credits! 😂 😂

Tried to post a link but had to edit it out as it wouldn't work.

Nobody mentioned The Man from UNCLE? And The Girl from UNCLE?
The Avengers with Honor Blackman, then Diana Rigg, before it got silly.(sillier).
Children of the Stones, that was creepy.
