Anyone feeling really depressed about the weather?

I know i can't change it so it's pointless, but I honestly feel really low 😕 Where the hell has summer gone? It has rained all day here and been cold and miserable. A heatwave was originally forecast for the weekend but now it's been downgraded to 20 at best, albeit hopefully sunny. I hope it's not going to be like this for the entire summer until we get more of the same in autumn. I have SAD and need warm sun on me. I honestly want to cry.

I just embrace it and buy a new waterproof in a bright colour with wellies to match and get out in the rain to go walking. It's not too bad. Life is short, you have to make the best of it!

I’m in central Scotland. We didn’t have a heatwave and it’s been raining for weeks. The sky is so dark and grey it looks like January.

TeenLifeMum · Yesterday 21:11

We had a week of lovely weather so it’s really disappointing it went so fast. I love a heat wave (I also like snow). I’m less keen on constant rain so every dog walk is a mudfest 😩

Absolutely sick of it too. In the last 36 hours we’ve had a thunderstorm, hail, lightning, winds, torrential downpours, clouds and some sunshine. The weather seems to be in perimenopause. Counting the days down to going on holiday.

As someone currently battling perimenopause, this gave me a smile!

Im in bed with a hot water bottle. On 11th June - nearly midsummer. Is it El Niño? I agree - I rely on the summer to warm my bones

Snap! Hot water bottle here too.

whiteroseredrose · Yesterday 21:25

No. I love it. It’s been light rain, not hammering down, and it’s not cold. Far preferable to the heat a couple of weeks ago.

MrsClattenburg · Yesterday 21:30

It's cold, 19° here. In June.

I was so looking forward to full sun, 24-25° at the weekend. Now? Forecast rain and 17°. Brilliant.

Doggymummar · Yesterday 21:31

my heating came an tonight its bloody cold

Girlwithapple · Yesterday 21:32

As someone who works outside (dog walker), yes, I am absolutely fed up with it! I've spent much of this week being soaked and we've had hail too....

i do wonder if this is causing a huge mental health issue

I love the rain. I can’t bear it when it’s hot - it’s hard to do anything except sit around and sweat.
The heatwaves we get now are scary - summers used to be 23/24 degrees, now they are in the 30s. I find it terrifying, climate change is accelerating faster than expected.
I wish had the mellow summers of the past.

It's not like winter is setting in, the trees aren't bare, the street isn't covered in leaves, it doesn't get dark at 4.

I think depressed is too strong a term.

The weather has gone crackers over recent years.

It always used to rain for the Wimbledon Championships... Net down, court covers over! Bloody Cliff Richard... That used to be June/July.

I'm just a bit pissed off about my garden... Ohh sun/rain/sun/rain... Anybody that has to trim hedges will understand. Still I'll get them done this weekend. Plus all my accumulated washing. Busy one 🙄

But it is depressing. We are 10 days away from the longest day and although I ditched my winter coat, I am still in the same clothes I have been wearing since October - cardigans, long sleeve tops, tights, “winter” skirts, trousers.
We had one glorious week to enjoy the outside and now back to never ending autumn.
I had the heating on today, according to the weather app it “felt like” 7 degrees outside. I hope it is the last of it as my cheap energy fix is coming to the end.
Hopefully we are not heading to a summer like we had in 2024 with early heatwave followed by months of misery.
Earlier this week, the forecast was for 24-26 over the weekend and the start of next week. Now it looks a lot cooler, but we will get some sunshine on Saturday.

ourSusie · Yesterday 21:59

the weather is one thing we can do nothing about
my family laughed at me washing cushion covers,
bedspreads, pillows! mattress covers! bathrobes!
all in the heatwave as the humidity was low here,
four days of manic washing and drying outside,
reasoning that it may be the only summer we have

I overdid it of course, too much at once but it is all
done now for another year.

Since then the sky has been glorious blue with puffy
clouds momentarily: mostly it is grey cloud, lashing wind
and rain, hail, stormy, depressing and dark, then the sky
clears, its sunny and bright again, on and on, Gaia’s
having fun with us, but we don’t deserve this
Flaming June

I’m trying to stay positive but it’s not easy. I’m on my way to the coast right now. It’s been chucking it down and thick fog.
ive had to pack for every season. I have SAD as well , I need some sun soon .

fashionqueen0123 · Yesterday 22:02

I’m so annoyed the heatwave supposed to be coming at the weekend which my phone said 28/29c. Is now 20/21!

DidntLikeTheEnding · Yesterday 22:07

I was just thinking earlier that I love this weather for June! And I am in Scotland where it has rained all day. I appreciate I might be a lone weirdo but I would far rather it was like this than 25 degrees!

largeprintagathachristie · Yesterday 22:09

It’s all my fault, sorry.

I’m in a middle of a precious annual leave week from work - no holiday as such - so have of course triggered grey skies and persistent rain.

Autumnlife · Yesterday 22:10

Sat with a heated blanket on I had the heating on earlier too. I want to sit in my lovely garden this rain and cold weather is depressing.

Didyousaynutella · Yesterday 22:15

I went away for the week of lovely weather and missed it. I am just sad I never get to wear any of my summer clothes. So sick of rain coats and trousers. Even my summer jackets barely see the light of day. I think it has been a windy year which I have hated. We went glamping and I though would be ok with a covered area to sit out under in the rain but the wind made it impossible.

Theseagullsarenowclouds · Yesterday 22:17

Yes and no.
Miserable for me, have put the heating on a bit, fed up with having to juggle washing line laundry and look at grey skies.

Pleased for the farmers and wildlife though. It was getting a bit squeaky bum time.

WilfredsPies · Yesterday 22:52

Why are any of you pretending that summer is a few days heat here and there and rain, cold and gloom the rest of the time? We’re only 11 days in and we’ve already had one heatwave. How much sun do you people need?!

I wish had the mellow summers of the past.

But what is there to do in the rain apart from sitting inside and waiting for it to pass?
Hot weather on the other hand- swimming in an outdoor pool, walking in a forest , going to the seaside, chilling in the garden in the evening while birds are chirping.
I agree with 30 degrees though. For me it’s not the temperature as such but our houses are not built for this. I come from a country where hot summers are the norm. We didn’t have air con and lived on the fifth floor in south facing flat, but we had the windows which fully opened. It made huge difference at night. Here I feel like I am suffocating as there is now air flow.
