Anyone feeling really depressed about the weather?

Specialneedsnightmare · Yesterday 19:49

I know i can't change it so it's pointless, but I honestly feel really low 😕 Where the hell has summer gone? It has rained all day here and been cold and miserable. A heatwave was originally forecast for the weekend but now it's been downgraded to 20 at best, albeit hopefully sunny. I hope it's not going to be like this for the entire summer until we get more of the same in autumn. I have SAD and need warm sun on me. I honestly want to cry.

It's going to get better tomorrow and over the weekend so hold tight it won't be long 😊

Tangwystl · Yesterday 19:58

No, you’re not the only one. I’m here visiting family - landed on 17th May and was in Europe for the heatwave week. Apart from that week it has rained for at least part of every day I’ve been here. I’m going to a wedding on Saturday and I’ll need to buy a warmer dress to wear because I only brought summer clothes.

It’s lovely seeing family and friends and I love the countryside etc, but I’m looking forward to leaving and going back to winter on the other side of the world. It’s SO depressing

thenewaveragebear1983 · Yesterday 20:06

Yes I hate it, I can just about tolerate it when it’s not summer but once it is June I expect it to be at least dry , ideally warm and sunny. I had my radiator on and a blanket over me all day while working. Horrible.

It's absolutely freezing here. Don't think it's been warmer than 12° and as usual no sight of a heatwave here. I've got Take That on Saturday and think we're going to end up rather wet!

Namethenames · Yesterday 20:08

I’m feeling really down too. It’s nearly midsummer and then the evenings will start to get darker. I have been wearing a jumper everyday and have the heating on tonight .Miserable .

Honeyhonay · Yesterday 20:09

It’s been awful but even 20 and dry is a far cry from the last 2 weeks so better than nothing.

Lifestooshort71 · Yesterday 20:13

Yes. 🌧🌂🥶. Fed up.

susiedaisy1912 · Yesterday 20:20

I’ve actually put the heating back on for a few hours as it’s so bloody cold here.

I am not a fan of very hot weather, although I am finding the rain, wind and hail a bit nasty. I was at a festival 2 weeks ago when it was very hot and it was just too much (sorry Download festival goers). I am currently preparing for winter, firewood, firelighters, kindling, room and wardrobe dehumidifiers, screen wash and de-icer whilst they are a little cheaper but am not looking forward to winter. We are due to go camping in a few weeks and I have already decided that the weather is likely to be a mixed bag at best. I am loving the lighter mornings and nights and dreading walking from the car park to work in the dark, rain and cold but we are well overdue a cold and nasty winter so trying to make sure I am organised. I cannot control the weather but can control being ready for whatever the British weather throws at us so our camping holiday will be a mixture of clothes for warm and cold weather, warm sleeping bags, waterproofs, factor 50 sunscreen, light layers and hats, fans and midge repellent. We have managed 3 barbeques in the garden already and will hopefully have a few more, even it it is raining.

When we had that GLORIOUS week a while ago I seethed at anyone complaining about the heat as I knew the price would be a month of this.

Please come out Mr Sunshine 😭

StasisMom · Yesterday 20:25

I’ve been a bit down in the dumps and I do think it’s the weather. I’m in the NW so especially crap.

Very much so. I NEVER complain about a heatwave. Please come back!

I completely agree. I have been so down as it has been grey all week. The wet weather has also made my asthma flare up.

Yes - I blame the moaners too! They get the weather they want for 10 months of the year already 😩

AutumnLover1990 · Yesterday 20:33

Not a summer person at all,as you can probably guess 😁but even I'm getting fed up now with the lack of sun 🤦‍♂️

Cobrakainerd · Yesterday 20:34

I don't have a tan...its rust!

PuzzlingRecluse · Yesterday 20:35

I’m the same OP it’s so dark & cold, I struggle with SAD through winter & this weather has brought it on early 😞😞 I’m really worried about the rest of the year & how I’ll cope.

Ndd1356387 · Yesterday 20:36

Me 🙋

ChocolateBiscuitsandaCuppa · Yesterday 20:38

Today pushed me over the edge.
It's not just the greyness and the rain - those alone I could cope with, it's the aggressive wind. There is no desire to leave the house when it's like how it's been today.
Yesterday was glorious here, and the difference to how much I got done! The light lamp has been out again, and the fan put away.

AlgaeDreams · Yesterday 20:39

It's not like winter is setting in, the trees aren't bare, the street isn't covered in leaves, it doesn't get dark at 4.

I think depressed is too strong a term.

The weather has gone crackers over recent years.

It always used to rain for the Wimbledon Championships... Net down, court covers over! Bloody Cliff Richard... That used to be June/July.

I'm just a bit pissed off about my garden... Ohh sun/rain/sun/rain... Anybody that has to trim hedges will understand. Still I'll get them done this weekend. Plus all my accumulated washing. Busy one 🙄

tobee · Yesterday 21:02

I’m fed up. The forecast is not encouraging. If we don’t have a decent summer it’s so much harder to cope with autumn and winter.

I’m cold. I had to put the blanket back on the bed last night. I stuck the heating on for 45 minutes this afternoon

The May heatwave was like some weird fever dream. It just got gigantically hot with no build up.

Plus it’s always disappointing when you have the longest days of the year and you can’t enjoy it with warm evenings.

tobee · Yesterday 21:04

Also the World Cup has just started and it should be sunny imo . Bad enough last time when it was staged in our winter.

BeretRaspberry · Yesterday 21:05

I’ve said before I am heat intolerant due to illness and I cannot cope in too hot weather but even I am fed up with this. Normally in spring/summer I can sit out in my garden in the shade and as I don’t get out much, it’s a lifeline and such a boost for me.

You know it must be bad if I’m complaining about the lack of hot weather!

I’ve also had the heating on today! It’s ridiculous.

Exactly this. The reason for the cold and rain now is those horrible Mumsnetters moaning about the heat, and killing all the sun fairies. Sad Will the heat moaners ever learn?

It is supposed to be better from tomorrow on, though. And let’s get the last of the wet weather out of the way while the kids are still at school. I’ve always thought it sadistic that children have to do exams in June, often the only time of year when the weather is nice.

DelilahBucket · Yesterday 21:07

Yea completely fed up. I have a high street shop and the fastest way to guarantee no shoppers is rain. It's hard enough as it is right now without the weather getting involved 😕
