What extra filters would you like Rightmove to offer?

What filters do you wish you could use on RightMove? Can be serious, light-hearted or both 🙂

Serious- Double garage
Light-hearted- No noisy neighbours!

OP posts:

Floor area

WallaceinAnderland · 10/06/2026 09:42

Floorplan to include outside areas so you can see size and shape of everything within the boundary.

Lastofthesummerwines · 10/06/2026 09:44

My parents are wanting to move so my Dad can get a garage / workshop and he would love a double garage 🤣

I suppose for some people they would like the way direction the garden faces put into the listing maybe a lighthearted filter feature lol.

BeMintFatball · 10/06/2026 09:46

Method of heating. So I can filter out electric storage heaters

apartments be listed by what floor they are on.

TheActualDuck · 10/06/2026 09:46

A view. We are looking to downsize and would comprise on many things for this.

Littletreefrog · 10/06/2026 09:48

Garden
Driveway
Garage

Rosemilla · 10/06/2026 09:48

Approximate age of house

AWeeCupOfTeaAndAnIndividualFruitTrifle · 10/06/2026 09:48

Filters for 'quirky', 'cool', 'characterful' or 'historical with unspoiled period features and not all bland, grey and glass inside'. Property porn, basically.

The problem is that agents would cotton on and then every property would suddenly be 'characterful' or 'quirky' - so if everything is special then nothing is, and it renders it pointless.

Mirrorxxx · 10/06/2026 09:51

Balcony.
Direction faces

LittleRobins · 10/06/2026 09:53

Actually looking back at it now the only filter there currently is for cars is ‘parking’, you can’t even filter by garage! Personally we’re looking for a house that needs to have a double garage and I’m wasting so much time having to click on each house to see if it has one or not.

As well as noisy neighbours (as the OP), the entitled ones with too much time on their hands who will look to create needless trouble over everyday parking, bins and other mundanities.

WhatAMarvelousTune · 10/06/2026 09:55

I want to be able to filter out listings that don’t have a picture of every room, and ones that don’t have a floor plan.

ETA - I’d also like to filter out houses with fake grass.

Tonissister · 10/06/2026 09:57

Serious: proximity to station. I know you can do that for individual stations, but if I am happy to look in a wide area, I want to only view houses within walking distance to any station in that area. I know you can check the map, but it would be nice to be able to just filter the rest out.

Light-hearted: shite grey recent refits. It's so depressing to see a house newly refitted in lifeless pale grey carpets and vast slabs of fake marble floor and wall tiles. Hideous waste of money. They always have fake grass too in the tiny outdoor space where a small patio would be far better.

SpringHasSprungTheGrassIsRiz · 10/06/2026 09:58
  • Period of house - so Modern, Post War, Victorian etc
  • Listed / Not listed

And my major bugbears:

  • I want to tick a box to say "don't show me this again" so I am constantly not trawling through stuff I'm not interested in
  • I want to ask to see all properties within xx mins drive of a location (like a train station). This isn't the same as a radius as that doesn't account for transport
PancakeCloud · 10/06/2026 09:59

Square footage! Ridiculous that it isn’t included

TTCbabynumber22025 · 10/06/2026 09:59

Garden size

Matildatoldsuchdreadfullies · 10/06/2026 10:00

Retirement or shared ownership.

Doesn’t matter what you do, these keep coming up - and it’s very relevant when you are looking from the cheapest up (dd1 and 2 are both looking to buy).

CelticSilver · 10/06/2026 10:01

Bad neighbours

Use Zoopla instead, you can exclude them!

Number of parking spaces

On Rightmove you can select for it not to show retirement

Houses with over an acre land!

Exactly! Standard in a lot of European countries. Insane it’s still not the case in the UK. I moved here ages ago and always thought it was just a matter of time, but I’m losing hope.

Number of bedrooms is absolutely not a substitute!

PrueRamsay · 10/06/2026 10:10

Age of property. So filters for pre 1900, 1900-1940, 1940-1960 etc

YellowBedLeaf · 10/06/2026 10:10

A filter to choose between private or shared garden would be great! I don’t want to have to read through reams of text to find out if the space is private 😩
