😂😂😂😂

They're not reporting it because, yet again, the attacker was likely an immigrant and it was clearly a racially and religious motivated attack on a white Irish citizen.

When are people going to wake the hell up?!!

Edited

I saw almost zero reporting about a Muslim woman who was intentionally run over by a car. It was clearly intentional, it came at her from behind at speed, in a straight line.

I saw almost zero reporting about a racially aggravated rape of a Sikh woman.

The fact is that when it’s a non-white attacker and a white victim people immediately say it’s racially aggravated and tar all non-white people with the same brush and start talking about immigration. Thats even when, like in this horrific case, the attacker is clearly mentally disturbed. When it’s a non-white victim it barely gets news coverage.

This is a similar case to the machete attack on Daniel Anjorin in Hainault in 2024. That wasnt as widely reported on and papers didn’t even use Daniel’s name, calling him “machete lad” in the rag that is the Sun. The killer was mentally disturbed, but was his race they key talking point? No, probably because he was white.

I am not hurling insults I am stating facts from my observations of living in Belfast all my life and what the dogs on the street could tell you about what is really happening here tonight this place is small and we all know what’s going on

That doesn’t mean everyone who participates is a racist and you have no evidence they have. But you choose to throw a word around because it suits your narrative! I don’t care if you live there or not, people are angry. If you choose not to be angry about an attempted beheading and all you’ve got to say is “racist” then it says more about you than it does about those who are angry

It’s very tiresome when other women think women only reach a certain conclusion if a man has told them to.

As you state in your post, we have enough issues with western men that we really ought to put the brakes on importing more male violence.

Generally I don't think that.
But Elon Musk is relevant to this thread since it's his post on X that is the start of the thread. I also think only focussing on the racial aspects of a case and trying to make sure everyone else does as well makes it much harder to fix wider problems in eg police response to sexual violence, mental health care provision. As does leaping to conclusions before all the facts of the case are out and insisting that anyone who doesn't is trying to cover something up.

And the initial premise of the thread, that the story isn't being reported, is factually and probably wrong. As is the idea it's only men like Musk publicising it.

YourGoldSquid · Yesterday 16:26

MotherofPufflings · Yesterday 08:59

It's being reported as a "savage and barbaric attack". What more exactly do you want them to say?

They shouldn't have even reported on this.

Let alone report that the victim was stabbed, was being beheaded, and had his eyes gouged out.

But here we are. Simply by reporting this attack, the BBC will have blood on their hands.

YourAmplePlumPoster · Yesterday 16:26

The paramilitaries are going to be out on the streets tonight and they are a lot nastier than the wheelie bin throwing thugs. I predict a long and uncomfortable summer for the politicians and police.

Oh yes my bad! It was an attempted beheading, which if people hadn’t intervened would have been a beheading. Is that better? Or does it make it ok and not much of a big deal that he wasn’t actually beheaded??

It makes it accurate. Facts are important.

Do you have any evidence for which countries this more regularly happens in? I’m not familiar with where but I’m sure we’d all like to avoid going there.

I believe the foreign office have online info on places it's inadvisable to travel to. Some people like to live dangerously though.

Yes calm down please everyone, the Sudanese attacker was actually interrupted before he could finish beheading his victim. There's no need for all this fuss.

margegunderson · Yesterday 16:28

I’m a long time journalist. We’ve never reported that degree of detail on mainstream news sites because children may be watching or listening and not everybody wants the stomach churning detail - especially as someone is in custody and may be charged. Perhaps the court case will record some of it.
Elon Musk is not a good actor in this.
And all of you quoting the same “open your eyes” line should think about what you’re actually saying in this context and stop. But you’re not actually thinking, are you? Just repeating right-wing rhetoric.

They were reported on. The rape in particular was covered by the BBC at the time it happened and during the trial and after. What didn't happen as much was the flood of social media posts and twitter speculation. And because the BBC is quite careful about predujicing cases the reporting during the trial was limited with full details only coming out post sentencing.

The problem is a lot of people get their info from social media so don't see the stories that don't go viral there. And the men who control the algorithms on social media have agendas.

Everyone I know is shocked and disgusted by what happened last night but we will not attack our neighbours and hold our communities to ransom or shut down businesses to retaliate

I just posted this, but it shows UK is safest out of a long list.
The Americas seem to have the most dangerous,

Thats alright then. Where are we on the charts for attempted beheading? Lower than Sudan?

I am 100% serious. Like Norm Macdonald once said:

"What terrifies me is if ISIS were to detonate a nuclear device and kill 50 million Americans. Imagine the backlash against peaceful Muslims?"

I share Norm's terror.

Well said. It does no good at all, we've seen enough rent-a-mob latching on to tragedies to further their own agenda.

VillageFete · Yesterday 16:31

Why is this particular attack being focussed on when there are around 130 knife homicides (50,000 attacks) per year in the UK?

Edited

Again… possibly because it was an attempted beheading?

The lunatic was like a rabid dog, shouting all of his religious tripe and attempted to behead a man. Barbaric.
