Also agree they are an awful family, I don’t unfortunately think it’s unusual, mumsnet often has stories of “theres a pedo in the family and we all supposed to ignore it”. People regularly lie for their kids, but I would be ashamed to have brought up someone like Digwa. Just a horrible shitshow all around.

I’m devastated by this , this is abhorrent! I only hope things change after this . RIP young man x

What an absolute tragedy , that poor lad what he must have gone through . The police more worried about being seen as racist , and the bastard who did it to him wasn't even handcuffed . The more I hear about the police the more I hate them

FatEndoftheWedge · Yesterday 20:12

He says " he looks like he's going to be sick " so why did he need cuffs on ?
This is what I can't understand ?
Why cuff him ? And behind his back.

After George Floyd Havant they learned anything when someone says ,I can't breathe .

I do think the point made on the other thread about how maybe Digwa was believed because he is sikh. A prison officer on twitter was saying she’s only ever seen 4 sikh inmates, if you are on the sharp end of policing it may be that Digwa didn’t match their notion of an offender or were wary of dealing with anything involving an accusation of racism.

Whilst I acknowledge that Sikhs are for the most part a decent, law abiding community, there is another side of that community that plays out largely within that community.

Watching 24 hours in police custody “Murder of DPD driver” (still available on ch 4) there is violence with weapons. The attack by a gang on another Sikh was horrendous. Seems to be a lot of violence and inter Sikh rivalry especially around some game they play (rugby ish).

It’s an eye opener for sure.

My theory on this is that it was stated and filmed that he chased Henry and stabbed him in the back of his legs when he scrambled over a fence and landed on a car - he was next to a car in a driveway when arrested. I believe they rang their parents who arrived to remove the knife but the commotion alerted neighbours and one woman rang police to say someone had been stabbed. Seeing as they had been seen they probably concocted the racism story, removed turban etc and pretended to be the victims. They would probably have disappeared if they hadn’t been seen. He’d already taken Henry’s phone off him and police found it in his pocket.

Thank you. I'm piecing together what you've said here and what Wiki said. Too much already going on for them to scarper.

I know it doesn't add up. If he'd just been stabbed and was presumably visibly unwell, obviously not posing a threat of any kind to anyone why was he restrained at all? It seems overreeactive policing to an accusation of offensive language without any evidence. I don't think it's even the done thing to handcuff someone if they're being sweary etc unless there's a good chance of escalation or someone getting hurt.
There are other things which don't make sense like the murderer calling the police, too. Honestly such a weird case, and such a tragedy.

Some "boy mums" in particular will cover for their sons to a really sinister extent - sometimes it's because they still see them as little boys rather than evil fully-grown men, and sometimes there's a bit of an incestuous element to it.

Justsittingbythefan · Yesterday 21:01

Absolutely awful case on par with the George Floyd case imo, just cannot understand how they could treat someone who even gave a hint of being unwell like this let alone someone who was actually dying in the process of being murdered. Even
if he had been perfectly well, why were they needing to act in such a heavy handed manner in the first place when he clearly wasn’t running away or being aggressive, I could understand if a crowd of people had just accused him of murdering someone (and he was completely well) but this seems completely over the top. Is this standard practice for the police? My heart goes out to his family who must be livid and heartbroken beyond anything I can imagine, I really hope something comes of this to make sure it can never happen again

It’s the same for girls too. Witness innumerable MN threads “How dare the school…” etc etc. And I recommend the Netflix documentary The Crash if you want to see Bad Parents in action.

George Floyd was a degenerate and dangerous career criminal (he had been to jail 8 times) who had previously been arrested because for holding a pregnant woman hostage with a gun to her stomach.

Henry Nowak was an innocent 18yo who did absolutely nothing wrong.

Do not compare them.

But I guess it was more than just an accusation of offensive language. The police arrived, there was a group of people standing around, including someone claiming he was the victim who showed his alleged injuries (Digwa) and another person confirming he was the victim (Digwa’s brother). The person keeping him upright told the police he jumped over the fence and fell off the car (also told them he has a mouth full of blood but they ignored that). So they arrive to a scene where the real victim comes across as drunk and everyone is pointing fingers at him.

His family orchestrated the entire scene to make it look like they innocent victims or trying to help, and the police were stupid enough to fall for it.

What the fuck. Why on earth are you spreading lies?

George Floyd was arrested for no such thing.

Edited to make it clear that it was a previous arrest, not the one he died during. But he did do that.

He was no innocent. He shouldn't have died but he was nothing like this young man.

On the body cams the police man say anyone else hurt other than home (Henry) - so they knew he was hurt even before Henry said he had been stabbed.

The police behaviour is unforgivable

How so?

That an entire family could be so mentally defective to think this would fly in court

Corianda · Yesterday 21:18

I blame the Gov - why do we hear nothing and see nothing of the boats arriving daily - I suspect it is shut down by the Gov, perhaps they warn the media to leave it as they think it causes anti immigration rhetoric.
Where I live there are weekly protests about the immigrants housed in the very nice local hotels - but you wouldn't know - nothing is reported even though police are brought in (as it's a small town) to police them each Sat night.
The Gov are forcing people to be 'kind' (to ethnic minorities), including the police. It's becoming a tinder box and we will have a Reform Gov if they don't sort this out.

What do boats have to do with this case?

Or asylum seekers in hotels for that matter?

Corianda · Yesterday 21:24

Because we, including the police, are not allowed to comment on anything to do with immigrants or minority groups. We HAVE to be kind - so the police were kind in this case to the member of the minority group, unfortunately he was the killer.

AnnaQuayRules · Yesterday 21:25

That poor, poor boy. I really hope there's a full investigation that gets to the bottom of this. My heart breaks for the Nowak family.

The government publishes the figures every week. You just need to check.

Of course people should be kind to ethnic minorities - the majority just want to live a normal life and cause no harm. But those that do need to be deported asap rather than “processed” for years.
