No its not a deflection, its actually a deflection to ignore one section of societies abuse of children, focusing solely on another.

We should be dealing with ALL child sexual abuse regardless of who is doing these evil acts & of course so called racial concerns have clouded judgements and outcomes, Sarah Champion (Lab MP) was shouting from the roof tops about Pakistani grooming gangs for many years in her local areas, all fell on deaf ears.

On Labour, they have been in for less than 2 years, blaming just them (current govt) for these things is reaching as some pp have done, such "this is on Starmer, he must go..." its pathetic.

The failure of the Police to enforce the law has been abysmal, as has child social services but both have been on the receiving end of some brutal funding cuts, 20k Police officers cut, Social workers given massive case loads, racism too.

[Redacted by MNHQ]

Instead we focus on Pakistani rape gangs, ignoring the wider issues and abuses.

Oh come on!!
This is the tactic that has been used over and over again..
“Let’s widen out the investigation to include all abuse cases everywhere… “ thereby making it impossible to drill down into the specific causes of the grooming gangs in Rotherham etc

This tactic has been rightly condemned by the victims of the grooming gangs.

OpheliaWasntMad · 08/06/2026 10:28

This is obviously terrible and should be condemned by everyone.

Literally nowhere was ‘razed to the ground’ and your claim that businesses rarely return to the neighbourhood is false.

Do you remember when Irish people were targeted by the police in England? When Catholics were viewed with suspicion and all the jokes about IQ? My first job I had to wait longer for security clearance than some other new starters and when I asked the hold up I was told it was because I had an Irish name. That was the 90s. I’m sure (if you’re in England) you’ll have had some of this too and you’ll remember how horrible it was to be assumed to hold the same values as others that talked like you, looked like you, prayed like you. And yet here you are doing the same. It’s shameful really. True stereotypical prison officer.

Arson, vandalism and looting caused $1-2 billion in insurable damages, the highest recorded since the LA riots in the 90s. Businesses will have their insurance doubled or have to take extra measures such as reinforced glass and reinforced shutters are unlikely to want those extra costs. It's all out there if you care to use google.

None of which indicates parts of the US were ‘razed to the ground’ or that affected areas are now without amenities.

Nobody is saying there weren’t riots, but you don’t need to lie to make your point. (Or maybe you do 🤷‍♀️)

So we just focus on one section of child abuse and ignore the others....

Is it not beyond the wit of man to deal with it all??? we must surely be able to drill into the specifics in ALL cases.

Otherwise we condemn huge numbers of children to their fate as we launch yet another public inquiry, lasting years as yet another generation of children suffer at the hands of these monsters and nothing is done.

I honestly do not understand this way of thinking & can only assume i'm misunderstanding what you have written

this isn’t true - race was a factor in both cases
Re Sara Sharif www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c1e31vdjjl5o
“Neighbours of the Sharif family did at times hear things that worried them, but the review found that "they were worried about reporting concerns about what they heard within the family's home. They feared being branded as being racist, especially on social media".
Sara started wearing the hijab in 2021 when she was only eight years old, even though her stepmother did not.
The review found that the "school showed appropriate curiosity by talking to Sara and stepmother and accepted the explanation that this was linked to Sara's interest with Pakistani culture following a visit to her paternal grandparents in Pakistan".
In the last months of Sara's life the the hijab hid the bruising and injuries to her face and head”

You’ve quoted neighbours, the pp claimed social workers were afraid of being called racist.

And you’ve quoted something that says the school were appropriately curious.

How does any of that show that social workers ignored Sara Sharif because they were afraid of being called racist?

Starmer ( and others in politics and the media) are responsible for creating a narrative that only people of colour (or trans people)can be victims.

The white working class in particular have been treated with contempt and ignored. ( eg grooming gangs/ underachievement of white boys in education compared to every other demographic)

It’s hard to know where to start but I’m fairly sure this government has a target to halve VAWG and to halve the disparity in healthy life expectancy between people living in deprived and non-deprived neighbourhoods. Just two examples of major pieces of work where the ‘victims’ are not people of colour or trans. I’m not necessarily defending the government as I think there’s more to do, but it’s plainly wrong to say this government (or any before) have made out only some groups are victims. This is the first government I’ve heard in many years (perhaps ever) talk about working class people.

It’s not just about social workers is it? We all have a responsibility when it comes to child safeguarding. No one should ignore an issue because of fears they’ll be called racist.

I think your reply suggested you were trying to obfuscate the role of race in the grooming gangs scandal.

Of course ALL instances of child abuse should be investigated- but if you lump them all in together you risk missing the different factors in different cases.

For example- Child abuse in the Catholic Church needed a separate inquiry to that of the grooming gangs . I’m Catholic. I didn’t go around saying “ but why are you focusing on Catholic institutions- there is abuse everywhere “ I understood that we needed to tackle the specific conditions that led to child abuse by priests.

Targets ….
Oh yes - the government has targets …
And they are very good about talking about the working class . I’ll give you that.

Have they talked about 'working class' people? I don't think so. they've talked about 'working' people. Which by their definition actually only means Some working people.

But anyway you're veering away from the Digwa - Nowak racism murder case. As are the Labour party and the BBC.

OpheliaWasntMad · 08/06/2026 11:32

Agreed

SpaceRaccoon · 08/06/2026 11:32

It's shit for them, and tbh the blame lies in large part with whoever implemented policies that give special rights to minority groups. It's a recipe for resentment and racial tensions.

The response was to a pp who claimed that social workers didn’t act because they were fearful of being called racist. That is not true and, despite saying ‘it is true’ you’ve demonstrated that it is, in fact, not true.

And now you’re trying to change the goalposts rather than acknowledge you were incorrect.

EasternStandard · 08/06/2026 11:38

Absolutely. Those poor parents and family.

Those in power can’t keep ignoring this.

So we end up having several inquiries, all of which last many years, new governments come in, recommendations kicked into the long grass (as happened to the last inquiry that lasted 8 years, finally reported in 2022) all 20 findings ignored, abuses continue.

No, the Police and authorities need to investigate to the highest standards and child social work needs to be funded properly.

All these abusers are breaking long held laws, these laws need to be upheld, without fear or favour.

This is just apologising for racists. They can’t help themselves because… something about two tier policing.

Next you’ll be saying it’s awful for women that we’re killed at a rate of 2 per week, but it’s whoever’s fault allowed women to have special rights. Like being searched by a female police officer, or going to a women’s prison. You want equality? Treat everyone exactly the same.

Findings should not be ignored , recommendations should not be kicked into the long grass. That’s EXACTLY what I’m objecting to.

Working people used a lot as well, some Ministers seem to favour it, but plenty of references to working class people, especially in relation to eg men’s health and in education.

I was responding to a pp, I haven’t noticed you policing anyone else ‘veering away from the thread’ so you’ll excuse me if I totally ignore you. 👍

Yes. As Kemi Badenoch highlighted very clearly.

She’s right, even some Labour MPs deferred to her. As @OpheliaWasntMadsaid it’ll take courage and honesty to fix it.
