This is the forecast for Reading. 32c.

So for everyone saying it's not that hot, it is here!

That’s Monday, but I agree it’s hot today! I feel sluggish and the garden is like an oven.

Hollanov · 23/05/2026 14:24

It is here

and therein lies the point I suppose.

MarxistMags · 23/05/2026 14:33

Unfortunately it's not hot up here, North Scotland. I've got my fleece on ! It's cloudy and windy.
Bah ! 😀

It is hot. But it feels hotter because the humidity is high so your sweat doesn't evaporate and you feel all sticky. 26 degrees here at the moment, and we are forecast 32 for Monday & Tuesday.

I'm currently putting off my journey into central London this afternoon because it's going to be sweltering. I had been going to spend the afternoon doing a spot of window shopping before the theatre this evening, but I'm not wandering up and down Oxford Street today.

AndSomeForFancyDress · 23/05/2026 14:42

I was excited to be flying from Canada (17) to London today. Until I checked the weather...

mondaytosunday · 23/05/2026 15:02

Ha I was just talking to my DD who’s up at Durham uni (21 degrees) about the heat (29) here in London. I said it’s hot sunny weather for half term but it will only take a day for people to start complaining about the heat. Then it will go back down to more normal temps the following week and everyone will be saying typical British summer only lasting a week. Meanwhile it’s still May…

FoulBlister · 23/05/2026 15:02

I was in a packed train, no air con traveling through Reading yesterday.
Unbearable.

FeliciaFancybottom · 23/05/2026 15:04

It's 15 degrees here, so yeah, it's not that hot.

Grim. I think the humidity is what makes it so uncomfortable.

I have air con units in the house so that helps enormously, but my electric bill will be sky high this week 😳

It's predicted to be 30C here on Monday, (North Mids) but I think it may be hotter.

It's 22C here today, and it's been 75% to 90% humidity all day, and whilst I am normally OK with the summer heat, I am struggling right now. (Feel queasy and headachey.) I suspect it's the humidity and hay fever causing it.

It really isn't THAT hot today in much of the UK though. Most places outside London are 25C or lower.

Monday will be hot though.

VanillaIceIceBaby · 23/05/2026 15:11

My dh is wearing a jumper but in his defence he’s from the Caribbean and it’s only 24 here. Where he grew up it was 28 every day and one day they closed his school because it was 21 and they were too cold.

Galaxylights · 23/05/2026 15:12

Think of the gingers!

...me! 🤣 We evaporate in slight heat!

fancypantss · 23/05/2026 15:25

It's beautiful here but we have a huge tree in the middle of our garden to give shade and there's a very slight breeze. We've had a BBQ and now we're lazing on the garden sofa. Perfect IMO.

Lovemycat2023 · 23/05/2026 15:33

It’s not just the temperature, it’s also how quickly it changed! Last week it was low / mid teens and chilly wind at the start of the week. I had on a mid season duvet and PJs. Last night was just a sheet and all the windows open!

Are they the portable units or did you get the built in type? I’m based near you and interested in a recommendation if you got them built in!

Josephinemylove · 23/05/2026 15:44

It’s not that warm here. But once it gets warm, as a ginger I melt

ohyesido · 23/05/2026 15:46

Who is saying that, it’s bloody balmy here

Fizbosshoes · 23/05/2026 16:12

Last Saturday i went to an outdoor event and was uncomfortably chilly.(it was about 12-13°, overcast and windy)
Today by contrast, imo, is lovely! Its 27° and sunny
