Very hot in Surrey. I gardened from 7.30 until 11; had a sit down, then a bath and went to the supermarket where it was lovely in the refrigerated aisles and around the freezer cabinets.

Just toying with getting up to water.

I agree with most of the posts on here. It is hot. I get really ill in it and am one of those that never feels cold. However I try and be sympathetic to people who do feel the cold, although it’s rarely reciprocated with any empathy whatsoever about my heat intolerance…

Thistooshallpsss · 24/05/2026 16:46

22 very pleasant with a sea breeze down in Devon

BlakeTheBlackBird · 24/05/2026 16:49

It's pleasant here, but it's 21C, so yeah. It's not that hot.

Because it’s about 1 week out of 52. I don’t have loads of sympathy when we’ve had 5 months of pretty much solid rain and grey skies. It’s depressing and miserable. It’s nice seeing the sun for a change. People that don’t like it can go back inside where the rest of us have been stuck for months.

LlynTegid · 24/05/2026 17:30

The UK is not just the south of England. We should recognise that- not everyone has a high temperature in the sun.

Humidity and poor air quality play a part too.

Agree. Make the most of it, you’ll have grim weather and rain for another 10 months soon.

DJSteves · 24/05/2026 17:31

I live in Saudi so am used to the heat. DH is just outside London visiting family. He said the humidity and lack of AC is something else. He looked very sweaty on FaceTime and he forgot to take any shorts. 😁 dry heat is much easier

Elbowpatch · 24/05/2026 17:31

This is hot. 32 is pleasantly warm.

Highly unlikely, if recent years are anything to go by. Plus it’s only May.

BeautySimplified · 24/05/2026 17:34

If anyone could send the heat up to the Scottish Highlands I’d really appreciate it.

ImImmortalNowBabyDoll · 24/05/2026 17:35

32 is hot for the UK but it's not HOT hot. It's just warmer than we're used to.

DJSteves · 24/05/2026 17:35

@Elbowpatch it was 47 when I got in my car earlier

Now that is perfect, much more civilised. I'd swap in a heartbeat!

Was last year one week out of 52? I do remember saying on here last August "wait till next year and the gaslighting will start" And here we are

SirChenjins · 24/05/2026 17:36

It's nice and warm here in Edinburgh, but not hot thankfully. On the flip side, you don't get the winters we do, so it's swings and roundabouts.

LivingwithHopenowandforever · 24/05/2026 17:37

From Warwick & it’s 30!!!! Spare a thought for those with chronic illnesses…….the heat is awful

RhosynCymru · 24/05/2026 17:40

In actual fact it is definitely more than one week! I often record how many hot days we get each year and it amounts in total to at least a couple of months. In my opinion the really bitter cold weather is never more than a couple of weeks worth but I like to have some empathy for the people I know who find that intolerable.

VintageLane · 24/05/2026 17:40

It’s a delicious 28 here. Making the most of it as it’s only due to last a few days ☹️

Central Scotland, I’ve no idea how warm it is but it’s too hot.
