I think times like these are when it's really great to have a team to support.

Oh definitely!

It's the final match day of the English Premier League football or soccer. My team is playing in a relegation match (we are not in danger) and it feels like the whole country is expecting/willing us to win.

Spurs v Everton and West Ham v Leeds is on EVERYONE'S radar today. (Personally I'd rather West Ham to be relegated.)

Agree @AcrossthePond55 and happy for your team.

The Trump phone is out.

Trump Mobile Phone Review: My Long Weekend With The Golden T1 - CNET

Wrong number of stripes on the flag. Photo att.

This is of note:

"Nowhere on the phone, box, manual or packaging does it say where the phone was made. The box simply says, "Proudly assembled in the USA.""

No conclusion on that site yet.

Does anyone think that there will be a journalist in the press pool willing to ask him about the 11 stripes?

No, thought not.

Shrödinger's peace deal.
Iran and the US could agree a peace deal within hours, Marco Rubio said on Sunday after President Trump claimed that the final details had been “largely negotiated”.
Trump said that the memorandum of understanding would be announced “shortly” and would include an agreement on the Strait of Hormuz being re-opened.
An agreement has been largely negotiated, subject to finalisation between the United States of America,” he wrote on Truth Social.
The president said that he had discussed the negotiations with the leaders of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, Bahrain and Pakistan. “Separately, I had a call with Prime Minister Bibi [Binyamin] Netanyahu, of Israel, which, likewise, went very well,” Trump posted.

US-Iran peace deal possible within hours, says Rubio

Will any reporter be brave enough to ask whether the US objectives in starting the war in conjunction with Israel, have been achieved.

For answers see @Spandauer post above.

@DuncinToffee Good luck for today's match!

I had to look up 'relegation match' lol. We don't have anything like that in baseball. A team may send players to one of their minor league teams (aka 'farm teams') for 'development' or rehab after an injury, but whole teams don't get 'demoted' to the minors.

My family have been Dodgers fans for 4 generations. Starting with my Grandad and Dad even before they moved to LA from Brooklyn in 1958 and continuing through me to my sons. In fact my first 'crush' was Sandy Koufax when I was just a little girl way back in the early 60s. I was going to marry him and we would raise horses (my 'other love') lol.

BruceAndNosh · 24/05/2026 16:02

These peace negotiations would do much better without Trump's commentary

If they did, he'd just say he had 'nothing to do with it, doesn't even know about a phone'. Then he'd say it's a Dem witch hunt. Then finally say it DOES have 13 stripes, the picture is a Dem hoax. Then he'd find a woman to fire.

L1ttledrummergirl · 24/05/2026 17:39

Nah, he'll just say that te flag has always had 11 stripes until the dems changed it.

West Ham go down and Spurs remain. I'm happy with that.

ETA, Manchester United won. Extremely happy 😊

Rubio being quite positive about a possible deal. Hopefully Trump won't fuck it up on Truth Social

BruceAndNosh · 25/05/2026 09:05

Good analysis of possible deal here, which is basically we're all worse off than before.

I think Rubio is very keen to settle so that he can turn his attention to Cuba.

Here be some UK tabloid news.

Donald Trump in hospital for third check up in 13 months | News US | Metro News

And when you take the big aspirin, they tell you you’ll bruise.

We have heard that one before.

What is the betting he comes out with a story that he has an incredibly rare condition that modern science says is so rare that it will be named after him.

I suspect the term "old age" is about to be revised to " Trump Ultimate Reverse Dementia Syndrome (TM Trump medical LLC)". or TURDS (TM), So it will be like dementia, but it's reverse, so it makes him smarter".

So smart in fact, that they will need to change his ballroom to make it even bigger so he can fit his smartness in.

And yes. He will release a new range of medication that will be sold on his medicine website. TURDS Aspirin (TM). A gold plated aspirin tablet so big that it puts horse suppositories to shame.

Donald Trump in hospital for third check up in 13 months

Trump is notably tight-lipped about his health, the subject of both speculation and concern, both in his first and second terms.

Spandauer · 25/05/2026 15:56

Trump was talking through his arse again. As suspected.

Latest from NYT:
Iran’s top negotiators arrived in the Gulf state of Qatar on Monday for further talks on the emerging peace agreement with the United States, as President Trump issued conflicting signals over how much progress had been made in the negotiations.
Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the speaker of Iran’s parliament, was leading the delegation in the Qatari capital of Doha, according to Iranian state media. According to two diplomats, the delegation arrived on Monday and also included Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s foreign minister.
Mr. Trump vowed on Monday that the deal would either be “great and meaningful” or “there will be no deal,” after saying that his negotiators were in no rush to close the agreement. He also called on countries like Qatar and Saudi Arabia to sign on to the Abraham Accords to normalize ties with Israel as part of the initial agreement — to which they are highly unlikely to agree.
Iran similarly poured cold water on hopes for an imminent deal to end the war and reopen the Strait of Hormuz...

Like a toddler who has learnt a new word and uses it incessantly, usually out of context or shoved into every conversation.

Also, I'm getting so tired of the continuous 'updates' on the Iran negotiations. Announcement, encouragement, dumb statement by Scrotus, reversal rinse and repeat. I wish they'd just shut up and get on with it. Let us know when it's a done deal

PS watching Scrotus at the Memorial Day laying of the wreath at Arlington's Tomb of the Unknowns. Looks like he's kinda having trouble balancing. Not like he's going to fall over, more like someone 'teetering' whilst wearing a pair of tall stilettos. He also looks faintly disgusted, like he'd rather be somewhere else. I can suggest a few places for him to go. I will admit that Vance and Kegsbreath look very professional and respectful.

Oh God. He's going to be 'making remarks'. Wish I had a bingo card!

Well, of course. For in his eyes the fallen unknowns the memorial commemorates are "weak" "losers". How galling it must be to have to feign respect to them.

I've no idea what could cause the bruising on his hand, but I do recall seeing photos of the late Queen with similar markings on her hands shortly before her death, which gave rise to much consternation in the popular press. Reportedly, she was suffering from cancer (in addition to old age).

Is it not where a cannula is inserted? I'm sure a medical person will tell us more.
