Is it an 11 egg omelette too much?

Would you say an 11 egg omelette, roughly 3 times per week, is a lot/too much for 1 person?

My built like a brick shit house, rugby playing / gym going partner can easily do 4 eggs. Probably 5 but he isn't a glutton so wouldn't.

11 egg is just so greedy. How are your finances? Does he do any of the shopping? Is he considerate of what other people in the house might want to eat?

I'll update tomorrow as showed him this post (I know, I know) and had a blazing row and I've chucked the omelette in the bin and gone round to a friend. I'll update tomorrow

What else is he eating. Is he being a bit of a gym bunny (and then spoiling it by scoffing rubbish) or just taking it to extremes?

PS my gym bunny DH shares a 6 egg omelette with me. He gets a larger portion.

33 eggs a week?

This person can’t have had a crap for the last 6 months!!

Bloozie · 09/05/2026 09:00

It’s very weird, but there are worse things to eat. The macros are good, it’s super filling, depending on what else he’s eating all day/week it could be perfectly fine. We need more context than just the omelette.

I try and eat 100-120g of protein a day and it’s HARD. If I could stomach an 11 egg omelette, I might go there.

Why does it bother you so much? Why are you having storming rows where you go and stay with a friend over eggs? We deffo need more context than the omelette.

It was a “blazing row”. So I think OPs OH is as much to blame. She didn’t throw it in the bin because she protested at him eating it, she threw it in the bin because of the “blazing row”.

Maybe he was just defending himself.

Littlecrake · 09/05/2026 09:04

11 is a weird number. Is it a prime thing? Does he use prime numbers in other rituals.

It’s a massive omelette (I’m another one curious to see the pan) - does he have stuff in it or just plain? Does he have it as an extra to his normal meal? Does he have other things - veg/salad etc or just the omelette.

It’s obviously crackers but why is it a problem? I was never allowed more than a single egg growing up but I think that was due to my mother’s rationing trauma. She would never use more than one egg so I was brought up on flat cakes and Yorkshire puddings that resembled rich tea. “You’ll get egg bound” was the cry if she caught you looking at the eggs. I was in my 30s when I had my first omelette.
Is he spending too much money on eggs? Does the single leftover egg bother you? Is he crashing about the kitchen turning it into a performance? Is he weird? Is he fat?

What by cooking an 11 egg omelette? Maybe she was defending herself by throwing it in the bin. Who knows?

No, maybe she was criticising him or telling him not to have it cos MN said not to and was being controlling so perhaps he just defended himself against that and said he'd eat what he likes and that's why it turned into a blazing row. Doesn't mean he was to blame.

I’d say too much. I don’t want to imagine the state of his bowels either 😬

I also agree this is crazy, but what’s the effect on bowels exactly?

My nutritionist is obsessed with eggs and I generally think it’s a bit much. However I did have a week of eating eggs every day and it gave me some issues.

So if you could elaborate that would be great, avoiding eggs for now…

OP a lot of calories in these 11 eggs, if that’s the only thing the person eats that day then fair enough, but I doubt it! Where’s the fibre?

yonem · 09/05/2026 09:29

@ElleintheWoods eggs can make you constipated

Edited

I get where you are coming from. Another perspective, he was sitting there eating his 11 egg omelette and her stomach turns watching him. She gets up, drags the plate away, tosses the omelette in the bin, blazing row ensues.

Not good either way!

It could have all began as a lighthearted, rib from her to him, on a Friday night which then escalated.

Hopefully OP will update soon.

You must have a bloody big bin as well as a strange diet!

THisbackwithavengeance · 09/05/2026 09:34

Eggs are very, very good for you. If the eater of the eggs is in good health and not overweight then I don’t see a problem.

MNLurker1345 · 09/05/2026 09:37

OP, says she will update, and so we wait. Sounds like blazing row was the result of OP showing him the thread. He gets upset. I think the fact she showed him the thread, it all began lightheartedly.

Yes could have been but again he wouldn't be to blame in that example you gave either.

Yes hopefully, we are all invested 😅

Monty36 · 09/05/2026 09:44

For one person it sounds very heavy going.
And not probably good for you. Eggs are good for you. But not I would wager, in excess. And 33 eggs a week is too many.

I knew a girl at work whose boyfriend had given her a tray of eggs. She was trying to get through them every day. She was sick of eggs, her breath smelt and she became constipated because of eating too many.

Surprised the bloody thing didn’t rebound out the bin with all those eggs in it.

BellaBlister · 09/05/2026 09:49

I know the OP will update but it's hard to comment without more context on why he's eating what he does. Is he training? On some sort of diet? Or does he keep chickens and is trying to use up eggs. That said if my husband chucked my food in the bin I'd be furious!

If her stomach turned then she should have walked away not thrown it in the bin. Could you imagine if you were describing a man doing that to his wife? Or him dictating what she ate?

JayJayj · 09/05/2026 10:11

That’s ridiculous. I have a 1 egg omelette with peppers, tomatoes and cheese. My husband has a 3 egg omelette with mushrooms, tomatoes and cheese. And sometimes he can’t even eat it all.

11 is just greedy.

Oh yes egg breath is disgusting
