I’m staying in a Travelodge, guess how many rooms have dogs booked in?

45 apparently šŸ«£šŸ˜‚. Some rooms have several dogs. I fear I should have brought earplugs.

Never encounter a cat-filled hotel though. MORE’S THE PITY 😤

we recently stayed at a Premier Inn in London where a friendly local cat waits by the front door until someone lets it in every afternoon. It then sits in the reception for an hour or so, getting acquainted with any guests who are friendly before making its way elsewhere. I was a little surprised to see it sat there, my cat loving daughter was thrilled. The reception staff didn’t even bat an eyelid when it strolled in, and said it’s a daily visitor.

Thank you. My second ever show. First was last weekend. Go big or go home šŸ˜†

There is a branch of Morrisons where I live where there is a lovely black and white mog. He sits in the entrance to the store, or he sits on the trolleys.

Quite normal on the continent- personally I love seeing well behaved dogs and its lovely that they can go on holiday with their owners and not be carted off to a horrible kennel! I have no problem at all in hotels - its the humans in hotel rooms that make the rooms smell - smoking vaping etc it stinks the carpets and curtains out!

I am autistic, and I do not have a dog.

Sure!

Sunisgettinganewhaton · 07/05/2026 22:03

When my mate had to escape abuse (by a ndn) the police booked her and her 3 x dc plus ddog into a TL... They would have been at risk otherwise..

NorwichMom · 07/05/2026 22:04

The boarding kennels in my village is £50 a night. This travelodge was £34 plus an extra £20 for the dog. But crazy that without a dog would be cheaper than kennels.

My dog loved her holidays.
Hotels are grim. It is usually people that wreck the experience for everyone else.

Lovely - doggies are the best! Enjoy meeting them.

I’d be so happy trying to meet all the dogs, this is the opposite of a problem for me šŸ˜‚

Same here. My dog died earlier this year.
I love to get fuss from other dogs. It makes my day.

There’s a cat that hangs out in our local precinct. Obviously it’s traffic free so safe. He goes into a lot of the shops where he’s always welcome….his favourites are a Blue Cross charity shop and Card Factory. He’s very popular in our town and his photo is forever on our town’s facebook page. Occasionally there’s been pictures of him being accidentally locked into the Blue Cross shop so the volunteers have to go to let his m out. A local artist has painted him for Blue Cross Christmas cards! He’s very well loved and looked after. His owner loves how everyone looks out for him!

I like dogs, but people who have an allergy or a phobia are being royally screwed at the moment by the fact that dogs are seemingly being allowed in more and more places.

There was one in the chemo suite I go to last week šŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø

Corvidsarethebest · 07/05/2026 22:10

How can this be true? I stay in Travelodge and Premier Inn's quite often at the budget end of hotels and I can't think of any dogs I've seen! Posher hotels tend to have the odd dog on weekends.

FinchiePink · 07/05/2026 22:11

BippityBopper · 07/05/2026 20:57

You shouldn't have to Google whether a hotel is dog friendly in the same way you shouldn't have to Google whether you are allowed to smoke in a hotel room. No should be the default and most obvious answer but, alas, here we are.

"No", thankfully, is the wrong answer 100% of the time, as guide dogs are allowed in all establishments.

There is no such thing as a legally completely dog-free hotel in this country.

Corvidsarethebest · 07/05/2026 22:11

Silly me, it's a dog show! I thought it was a bit unusual...

Is there a dog show nearby?

Because if theirs isn’t, I can’t believe the stats are true!

And as a PP said afaik there are allocated rooms for dog owners and an additional fee for the cleaning.

I doubt there are particular rooms allocated for pets - I'm disabled so need an accessible room, plus we have a dog, so always stay in Travelodges, which has been pointed out, have always accepted pets for an extra charge. I don't think they would keep one of the four to six accessible rooms set aside just for pet owners.

Anyway, plenty of other hotel chains that don't accept pets for the dog haters out there. But any excuse for a moan for some people. šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

If you don't want to stay at a dog-friendly hotel, make sure it's not on this site:

Aloealoealoe45 · 07/05/2026 22:17

It was the same at Newbury Travelodge last weekend - a big agility show 5 minutes away. Everyone staying had a dog and it was fully booked. Didn’t hear anything, but just met other dogs on wee breaks and when coming and going from the hotel.

Yes. Very big one. Think about 10,000 entries.?

Yes, it’s the National dog show this weekend. We are entered for tomorrow. You have to pay an extra Ā£20 for a dog. Receptionist said lots of people try and smuggle dogs in without paying extra but they’re on to them. šŸ˜†

I once stayed in a hotel near where Crufts was being filmed! It was pretty fun. A lot of dogs in my hotel then too and they were very well behaved (as you’d expect). I wasn’t there for Crufts, a boring work conference instead. I did like the excitement of being near it!

TheBeaTgoeson1 · 07/05/2026 22:24

I’d love this happening
