A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour* *government. 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Oh god that. Apparently a few women on mn who pointed out Labour’s economic policies were dire pre GE are responsible for bringing down Starmer 😬

Perhaps if Labour had listened they wouldn’t be facing annihilation.

It is utterly ridiculous.

It’s a conspiracy between you lot, and the right wing media.

Apparently.

Cantering to catch up; looks like I missed some fireworks. Thank you for the new thread, @WaffleBomb - and great cartoon.

Between that and my alleged funding from the far right (due to not believing you can change sex - see FWR), I'm a one-woman political hand grenade!

The TRAs believe that the GC 'movement' is funded by the far right / Russia. It's a running joke that no regular poster has yet received any funds! 🤣🤣

I have no words for that tbh Fluffy. I thought I'd heard it all....

This week is going to be interesting. I think I'll stay on this thread.

Interesting indeed. We may have to be careful what we say else the thread may end up with more holes than Swiss cheese!

Yes we will.
I can't fathom the 'holes' from today, so someone is on the warpath.
No TAAT and grey rock ploppers is the way forward this week imo.

I've just read a local farmers post on FB. He's been getting really nasty messages on X because he's questioned politicians. Another farmer replied his children were threatened because he'd spoken out. So it's nasty in my Welsh neck of the woods.

I blame the USA they started all this ten years ago. Egged on and emboldened by social media

I’m very sorry to hear that. Intimidation and abuse is all too common these days.

It’s absolutely disgraceful, wherever it comes from.

That's awful.
It's getting worse with each election.

It’s a real shame - I could use that money. My downstairs bathroom is falling apart.

Whilst I ‘get’ Reeves on this occasion, I wish she was as firm with Labours back benches….

US Treasury secretary Scott Bessent had a fierce row with UK chancellor Rachel Reeves in Washington last month over her outspoken criticism of the Iran war, according to people familiar with the matter. The chancellor, who was in Washington for the spring meetings of the IMF, gave an interview to CNBC on April 15 claiming the goals of the Iran war had “never been clear”. Reeves expressed the view that she was “not convinced” that “we are safer today than we were a few weeks ago”, prompting furious criticism from Bessent. When the pair met later that day Bessent berated Reeves over the remarks, according to people familiar with the situation. The Treasury secretary insisted the world was safer because of the US-Israeli war against Iran, even invoking the spectre of Tehran launching a nuclear attack on London. Reeves responded angrily by telling Bessent she did not work for him and disliked how he had spoken to her.

I'm surprised Reform are polling so well in Scotland. Really surprised.

I'm not. Glasgow has taken an enormous amount of asylum seekers and refugees and they've been linked to a number if sexial assaults. Some issues in Dundee and Aberdeen also. Then there was the stabbing in Edinburgh by a nursery school, with the very obviously 40 something year old man called 23 by the police. Said man subsequently bailed.
There's a lot of anger.

Ah yes. That makes sense then.

What a mess it's all turned into.

SpaceRaccoon · 05/05/2026 08:04

I'm terrified of an SNP/Green coalition in Scotland. I guess we could sell and move but I like where I am!

NoWordForFluffy · 05/05/2026 08:06

I would be too, @SpaceRaccoon. I'm glad we didn't move to Scotland, which was a potential move 10 years ago.

I bet. I listened to the PC person this morning admonishing people for being concerned by this (where he is presumably not Scotland) and the usual mantras.

Yes because people love it when you dismiss their fears, gaslight them and call them racist...
They don't learn, do they?
