Feeling very full here as had some soup then a smoothie, a bit much to be honest!

A day of slightly annoying tasks such as ringing up to cancel things (can't do it online) taking deliveries, doing the usual laundry and having a bath and getting changed / doing hair, now resting.

Missing the days when all that would not be thought about, I guess as others are saying it is about what we can and can't control.

Doing the Ocado order now. I guess it makes me feel like I am helping although it gets delivered. the family write down stuff needed on a white board and it saves last weeks order so it is easy.

Then I might try and get in the garden for an hour. I did that yesterday and it was quite nice.

Also I have given up the swim/gym pass and cancelled it is too expensive when I am not going. I keep thinking I will and then cancelling, they will be getting fed up with me.

Tiredandwired2 · 10/06/2026 16:35

@Orangesandlemons77 I absolutely get that feeling of wishing things were done on autopilot. Everything needs so much thought to make sure not using too many spoons 🥄

I have come to accept that I am not in control of any of it so I just do what I can, when I can but it's not easy and won't exactly be helpful when I have to get back into work 🤦‍♀️

Shame about the swimming/gym
but at least you can put it towards something you will use or do

TeaAndStrumpets · 09/06/2026 19:46

Thanks for hugs 💕

The house viewing does sound hopeful. Is it big enough for your stuff? Main thing. Hopefully you'll be spoilt for choice.

Yes @Swanhilde is a lovely fixture on our thread with her tea and cheese, an example to us all to Keep Calm and Carry On....not to mention Dig for Victory!

I'm going to settle down with a favourite audiobook now, very calming.

Aw, thanks @TeaAndStrumpets - it's tea, toast and jam today, we've run out of stinky cheese 🧀

And I'm loving the cardi @bedfrog . My jumper is still not finished, I've no energy to even knit at the moment 😴

But I've finished work for the week and have a massage booked for tomorrow morning. Baked potato, cheese and beans for tea 😋

Have a restful evening all 💕

TeaAndStrumpets · 10/06/2026 17:24

I just spent 5 minutes standing in the kitchen helping to pack some freezer portions. It was about 2 minutes too long as felt suddenly faint. Back on the sofa now!

MewithME · 10/06/2026 17:55

I'm so exhausted. Work was too much. Ended up in tears after a big meeting because goal posts got shifted and I just couldn't cope. The room was boiling. It got too noisy. And a piece of work I was responsible was held back from sign off because someone change the goal posts so I now have to jump through yet another hoop at the last moment. I'm totally sick of work and other people.

My ears are ringing, I'm in pain, body buzzing. I need to stop BUT I have to take my car for it's service tomorrow. Life it's impossible on my own. I've had enough today.

Still in tears now I'm home.

And I have to work this weekend on Sunday. I'm done in.

@MewithME I can feel your pain reading that (and I know it all too well). It's all too hard 💐 this world isn't set up for us chronically ill people.

Can you rest this evening? An easy meal for you and DS and just take yourself to bed?
Can you go off sick? Sounds like it's been a real struggle for a while

MewithME · 10/06/2026 18:15

Thanks for hearing me @Tiredandwired2 . Sometimes it means the world just to be understood.

TodayIsatrickyone · 10/06/2026 18:38

Aw @MewithME I’m so sorry it’s all too much today. Is DS home? If not can you curl up in bed and just let the tears flow. Sometimes we just need to. Sounds like a hell of a day that would have got to a well person so of course it’s too much for someone who is chronically ill. Sending hugs 🤗

Tiredandwired2 · 10/06/2026 18:41

@MewithME❤️ Hope you manage to rest this evening

ValleyClouds · 10/06/2026 18:42

I’m really sorry you’ve had such a shitty day @MewithME - take it easy if you can and maybe treat yourself?

MewithME · 10/06/2026 19:07

DS is home. I've managed to make something to eat for me which is in the oven. So my visible app is telling me I've done double my pace points today (from the point of stressful work crap onwards) but I have eaten so badly all week I probably need some nutrition so I've just got on with it rather than think too much.

I'm in bed while it cooks.

I think treating myself is just being in bed and not moving at this point @ValleyClouds but appreciate the thought x

Hope everyone is ok. Haven't managed to read posts yet.

Well done on the divorce steps @Tiredandwired2

@MewithME sorry you've had such a difficult day 🤗

@TodayIsatrickyone you've really made me laugh with the door story.

I didn't get the house 🙄 They helpfully told me I was second in line if it doesn't work out or another of their properties becomes free. So more emails and phone calls etc today. Went for a lunchtime nap and forgot to set my alarm so I woke up just five minutes before a meeting with my manager and couldn't really follow half of what he was saying!

Had a friend pop round for a quick cuppa then I've had to do a bit of clearing in the cellar as I've got someone coming on Friday to service the boiler and generally check all the gas appliances. Think it might be bedtime soon.

danglethedingle · 10/06/2026 20:11

Hello Peeps! Just caught up with the thread from the weekend. Phew.

Woke up on Saturday with everything hurting, thought it was a Fibro flare up, maybe a reaction to going out on Friday. Spent most of the day on painkillers, just laying on various surfaces, as you do.

That night it transpired that what I'd got was a lovely dose of norovirus, I've been either in bed or in the ensuite ever since. This is the first outing to the sitting room in 4 days. Our Wifi doesn't reach the bedroom, and the sitting room is too far away from a loo for safety.

I've just eaten some crackers and a cup of tea that was a weak as I feel, the most lovely meal I've had in ages!

DD1, who fancies herself as a wit, said that it was probably an income sensitive virus used by Waitrose to keep the plebs out. And that this was my sign to stay in my aisle - Aldi middle aisle.

14 hours in labour for that child.

Onwards and upwards from now on hopefully, hope the rest of the week goes ok for everyone. 🌺

TodayIsatrickyone · 10/06/2026 20:17

Aw no sorry about the house @martha79

You poor thing @danglethedingle hope you can start to feel better soon

TeaAndStrumpets · 10/06/2026 21:10

@MewithME that sounds rough. Take care of yourself. Work sounds pretty awful. Hope things get sorted. 💕

@martha79 better luck next time.

@danglethedingle that is just awful. Glad you've got your home comforts back.

I've had an impromptu sleep, just woken up. I've had a lot of pain radiating from my treatment areas. Although my neck is far less tight I've now got stabbing pain in my jaw so it has just moved round! Had TMJ before during a flare....I always think I've got sudden tooth loss until I twig it's a general inflammation..sore glands eyes etc. I always jump to worst case scenarios of course. Moving down my body, the sciatica is going well.

The BEST symptom is one @danglethedingle will sympathise with, I will draw a discreet veil though. Not the runs as such more rapid transit if you see what I mean. I have been reading up on post osteopathy reactions and it's to do with everything sorting itself out, worse before better etc. The runs is (are?) due to the vagus nerve being involved. Sets off the fight or flight then does some calming of the nervous system. Reckon 48- 72 hours should settle things down. Fingers crossed.

JewelleryCat · 10/06/2026 21:36

Sorry to hear you’ve been unwell @danglethedingle woukd a WiFi booster help so you can get the wifi to the bedroom? I bet you really liked that tea and those crackers and it should be gentle on your stomach too

bedfrog · Yesterday 06:13

@MewithME sorry to hear you have been struggling with work. I really don't know how you do it going into the office. Can you wfh at all or more, if you already do? Make sure you're requesting all the adjustments you can to make everything easier.
Im thinking of cutting my hours down after my sick leave finally ends. If I ever am well enough to go back!!
This illness is completely incompatible with work IMO

Hope you're feeling better soon @danglethedingle Flowers

@Swanhilde hope you manage to get a bit of knitting done soon! I know things are bad if I can't knit so hope you are doing ok

@Orangesandlemons77 I do a sainsburys online order every week too, i definitely give myself a pat on the back for being marvellously helpful. Although I do some weird shops sometimes and rely heavily on previously ordered stuff. Brain fog really can be a laugh sometimes when I order 20 bananas or something. Thank goodness for grocery delivery, otherwise we'd starve.

Agree about the vagus nerve @TeaAndStrumpets when I had long covid (or my post covid ME flare up) I couldn't ride in the car without getting a horribly upset stomach. It seemed to make no sense at all until I read more about the vagus nerve. Bodies are weird.

Up really early today eating breakfast at 6am. Back to bed now. I was so hungry I woke up and couldn't get back to sleep until I ate!!
Today is going to be an even slower one than yesterday now (if that's possible!)

MewithME · Yesterday 07:23

I have thought about cutting hours but I don't have a very good pension as I was late managing to start one and I'm only 4 days a week anyway so it'd be even worse then.

I don't know. I think there are some things I am not getting away with now. Yesterday just tipped me over. I got upset because I wasn't feeling well enough to cope. Then being upset just made me feel worse. I'm probably going to have to rest today apart from taking the car in. Feeling very shaky. Maybe it's menopause in the mix too. I had some night sweats last night which I don't usually.

Hope everyone has a good day.

JewelleryCat · Yesterday 08:56

I do Ocado for my grocery delivery. Very friendly drivers but I would like a different van to the cherry van I get every week

bedfrog · Yesterday 09:03

Can you take some time off sick to recover a bit, @MewithME ? Flowers

My pension will be crappy too. I've only ever worked f/t for about 2 years.

TodayIsatrickyone · Yesterday 11:55

Morning all,
Hope you can rest today apart from taking the car @MewithME and figure out some way of making work more manageable as it sounds such a lot to deal with .
If menopause is perhaps adding to the mix maybe a chat with the GP and bloods to check hormone levels.

An early start today as had to be at the osteopath first thing. Things are slowly loosening up and pain is less acute which is great but she still discovered lots of stiff and sore bits!
She does acupuncture at the end too so think it’s all gradually helping.

Lots of rest now as DS is flying down from Scotland later today. Only here for one night/ tomorrow as he’s calling in on his way to an event but not seen him since Xmas so looking forward to a catch up and a hug from my boy!

Have a restful/ manageable day all

Tiredandwired2 · Yesterday 12:30

Morning all
@MewithME Hope the car service doesn't cause too much hassle today. Treat yourself to a bar of chocolate or something else nice if you can.

@martha79 Sorry about the house. At least your on their radar now. Something better may come up.

I have been to the post office and pharmacy today. Did some housework very slowly and worked on some planning for christmas. I know it's June but I always find christmas super stressful so trying to get ahead with at least knowing what I am planning to buy or do so it doesn't floor me all at once towards the end of the year.

martha79 · Yesterday 12:34

Afternoon. Another one in the rubbish pension gang here - lots of moving around, doing maternity cover contracts, was self-employed for about eight years...

Just plodding through work here. Trying to limit the house searching admin to maximum of an hour in the morning and an hour afternoon/ evening. I wish letting agents weren't obsessed with phoning in response to an email, especially when it's to tell you they don't quite know when viewings will be available.

@JewelleryCat when I got Ocado I always got the apple van!

JewelleryCat · Yesterday 12:36

@martha79 I wouldn’t mind seeing the apple van, just not cherry!

TodayIsatrickyone · Yesterday 13:32

@JewelleryCat & @martha79 I sometimes do Ocado shops and had no idea which van but according to my texts ( yes I checked… I needed to know and resting is boring 😂) it’s usually The Plum Van so now I know! Apparently it was once the Raspberry van 😊

Good idea to plan ahead re xmas @Tiredandwired2 I always used to get bits over the year when the kids were little. Spreads the cost out too! Nowadays I need to wait til the adult kids give me ideas 😊
