Went to see my 91 year old great aunt who I have not seen in person for several years.

Within minutes of arriving aunt told me I look like I have lost weight. I have but only about half a stone not intentionally but also it’s not a drastic amount.

I said I may have lost a bit biting my tongue not to say stress will do that.

Aunt followed up with I thought you had been on the mounjaro jabs. I mean wow! The older generation really shoot from the hip.

I was on a group bike ride yesterday. We are a small mixed group of women, about 7 of us. Some Muslim, most not. One was wearing a head scarf. We were stopped at a junction. Man in a van shouts,' he died on the cross for us'. I don't think he subscribes to the Christian message of peace for all and love thy neighbour.

Did you report him?

Yes the poster said that they reported but nothing was done, because the management didn't care, or something like that.
Sounds like an awful place to work.

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 02/05/2026 20:09

At work yesterday.

I work with adults with learning disabilities. One can pinch and scratch when frustrated.

Not frustrating her is easy. Stepping away is also easy.

My colleague stated yesterday that ‘they should put a DoLS in place and strap her arm down.’

Charming.

Don’t put your loved ones in care.

Amberlynnswashcloth · 02/05/2026 20:13

When I gained a bit of weight DM told the extended family that I wouldn't be attending the upcoming reunion because of course I wouldn't want them to see me until I "felt a bit better about myself".

Thanks mum!

I feel this is reportable, the poor resident 😱

Thank you! I’m slowly reading through all the posts.

About 7 years ago my H saw that I had a job page open on my phone as I had been looking at small PT jobs in addition to running the back end of our business, I have less to do these days as various bits are outsourced and thought something interesting 10 hours a week but different might be nice - his response was ‘what are you doing that for, who would want you’ ? Given that I can manage accounts, payroll, social media management, digital marketing, , mail order servicing and all admin on 2 limited companies with HMRC and companies house, I did feel somewhat miffed aswas only 57 at time and for many years worked in HR and also as an office manager. Some people are just incredibly thoughtless before opening their mouths

When DHs ex wife asked me ( whilst married to DH) if I was on contraception !

I have a distant relative ( cousins child) who has recently transitioned male to female. We are having a family get together soon and my elderly dad said that if she comes he will just not speak to her at all. There's a few of the older family members who cannot accept it. It's upsetting as this young person has gone through so much turmoil.

Your dad would love it on MN!

She was still married to him, or you were?

Perhaps he was being an arse paying maintenance fir his existing children

IWasTangoed · 02/05/2026 21:33

@Mskittenheels So pleased he is your ex. He sounds horrible.

Just smile to yourself when he tries to put you down again, and if he asks why, just say you are just so happy you aren't with him anymore.

What's wrong with that?

Scary, your friend died from the same condition? All the other doctors managed to stop at you were very ill.

blankcanvas3 · 02/05/2026 22:44

My DD was sitting on my lap, facing me today and she pointed at my forehead and said ‘that wrinkle is new’. Unfortunately I’ve had to forgive her as she’s 3.

I'm child free by choice. I'm sick to death of people telling me I'll never experience true joy and happiness...and that I'll be very lonely in old age. For the record, I do experience joy and happiness without kids

Why do they say that? All you ever do is worry when you have dcs and gdcs. I don't blame you at all!

SorcererGaheris · 02/05/2026 22:51

A FB acquaintance telling me that he supports bullying and prejudice being directed at my community (so, by default, me as well.)

I work in social care. Report that.

It was reported and at least one colleague I know of reported it to a bullying at work government body type service, I can’t remember the name unfortunately.

My elderly MIL asked my FIL to take care of his wallet in his back pocket because of the foreigners around. While I stood next to him. I’m a foreigner. (They aren’t Brits btw. I am)

🙄

How mean and hurtful. She sounds thick as mince.

But come to think of it, she also sounds insecure. Maybe her gagging-for-it husband is looking elsewhere ...

She was actually pretty intelligent but her husband was 12 yrs younger. I think she was trying to assure herself more than anything, but how bloody insensitive!

Hopefully you also reported @CrapGardener

The more complainants, the more likely a complaint is likely to progress.

Downunderduchess · 03/05/2026 07:00

Some of these comments are reminding me of an ex-boyfriend and a few of his family members who would tell me quite regularly that I could be a model if I lost some weight. I am five feet tall, I have never expressed any interest in being a model, I had a very good job and didn’t need the money. I think it was a concerted effort on their part to try and get me to go on a diet.

I’ve lost count of the number of inappropriate comments people, particularly men have made over the years. I’m enjoying less of this now as I’m older and I don’t mind it at all.
