I really fancy my dentist

He's my age, really good looking and just a really nice person. I feel like we have chemistry. I know I might sound a bit delusional. Is there a way I could ask him out? How would I do this? He's ringing me next week about my treatment. Obviously I would need to find a new dentist and/or dental practice but I'd be okay to do that. Its just rare that you feel genuine chemistry and connection with someone.

The only way I can imagine is a hand written note. Thank you, if you'd fancy a coffee, phone number.

That doesn't put him on the spot, doesn't require immediate reply (or any reply at all) and you both can forget about it before seeing each other the next time.

AllTheWatersTurnedToClouds · 23/04/2026 17:32

Chap across the road from us is a handsome dentist. Married to his equally gorgeous dentist wife.... i'd lay bets he's not single.

Branster · 23/04/2026 17:33

At least he’s not your gynaecologist- that would be even more awkward.

Honestly, I'd rather hold on to a good dentist than have him as a boyfriend!

That was my first thought too 😂

You know what its like then! I tried to look him up on fb but couldnt find him.

I dated someone who worked at my local practice LOL and they sometimes slightly change their names so patients can’t find them🫣

Apparently it’s quite common!

As soon as she does that he'll pass her onto another dentist in the practice.

Watch that James Nesbitt TV short series The Secret.

Then you won’t fancy the dentist.

I was just thinking that !

Please don't confuse the two in her mind. It could get awkward when he says "Open wide ."

Wish I’d thought about this when I started seeing my handyman 5 years ago. Now I have to wait for things to be done in the house.

Calliopespa · 23/04/2026 11:49

I think you have to change dentist first.

It isn't fair to put him in that position otherwise.

I think the OP is thinking of all kinds of positions she’d like to put him in!

Mischance · 23/04/2026 17:50

He'll have a partner/wife/husband - all the really good looking men are gay!! 😀

At least he wouldn’t recognise her in the street!

User086758 · 23/04/2026 17:51

If you know for sure he's single (social media stalking?) then it can't hurt to try. However if he's not single, leave it alone. DH is a dentist and it's not forbidden to have relationships with patients or assistants. It might be different if he's employed at a hospital since they have their own rules and HR policies, but dentists who own their own practices can do what they want.

Dental assistant tends to be the cliched one. A huge number of dentists end up marrying one of their assistants. We do know someone who had a LTR with someone he met as a patient for about 2 years but they ended up splitting.

Butteredtoast55 · 23/04/2026 13:05

I could say exactly this about my dentist except we are both straight women and she's 30 years younger than me.

That’s ok!

GameOfJones · 23/04/2026 17:54

What are the chances of a handsome and kind dentist being single? I would bet money on him being in a relationship. Plus all private dentists I've seen have been absolutely lovely and very chatty......they want your money, it doesn't necessarily mean they're interested in you romantically.

Fair play for going for it but even if he is interested, he can't do anything if you're his patient so you're going to have to change dentists before you ask him.

EBearhug · 23/04/2026 18:14

I have a hot dentist. I don't know if he's single or anything, haven't asked. I just consider it a bonus of not the greatest appointment I have every year.

(Also, he's NHS.)

Tel12 · 23/04/2026 18:18

My dentist is really nice too. You're private, it's his job to develop a relationship.

Calliopespa · 23/04/2026 18:29

I'd actually hate to have a hot dentist.

I like to be free to make a fuss and generally be a total wimp.

You know what its like then! I tried to look him up on fb but couldnt find him.

That’s because, if he’s got one, he will use a made up name not his own name to stop patients finding him. Same with police etc

So, good looking, single AND the practice owner?

Nah, what are the chances? 😁

Offherrockingchair · 23/04/2026 18:35

All I can think of is Agnes in The Testaments 😭 IYKYK! Soon put you off, OP.

Slimtoddy · 23/04/2026 18:43

One of the doctors at my GP practice is crazy attractive. I find it disconcerting. He is also a very good doctor. I would normally avoid him because it's like being seen by a young Brad Pitt. But then I really needed to be listened to by a doctor so I opted for Brad. He was excellent and has referred me onto relevant specialists for an ongoing medical issues that for the first time seems to be improving. I am not sure why is good looks unnerve me. I couldn't possibly imagine asking out a health professional no matter how good looking. Just seems wrong.

LaurieFairyCake · 23/04/2026 19:28

Can you grab his cock when he drills as if you were surprised 😮

(I mean not really but that’s what would happen in a Mills and Boon though it would be something like:

”OH! She startled and reached out to grab at the chair. Accidentally brushing his mahoosive erection” )

LittleMissClutter · 23/04/2026 19:36

TittyGajillions · 23/04/2026 19:13

Would you really have the nerve to ask him out and go on a date if he said yes?

This is what I said upthread.

I honestly think the very likely rejection could be quite damaging to the OP.
