Wasp in bedroom

My bedroom window is open and a wasp is in and on my bedroom light on the ceiling. How do I encourage it out? Don’t want to hurt it.

Can you entice a bat or a magpie in? Both love wasps apparently 😉

WonderingWanda · 08/04/2026 21:01

Just get a large glass and a bitnof card and catch it then release it outside.

FernandoSor · 08/04/2026 21:02

Just catch it with a cup and card and lob it out. We do that with bees, wasps and even giant hornets. Dragonflies require a big Tupperware box though.

Won't be cheap but out of hours pest controller I can give you a recommendation for if you're in London?

Pest control for a wasp?? Are you serious?

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 08/04/2026 21:14

I need to find the stepladder now!

It's strangely reassuring that while half the world is panicking about getting nuked, there's a MNetter somewhere posting about a wasp in a bedroom 🤣

WhatFlavourIsIt · 08/04/2026 21:15

I would just thwack it with a towel. Fuck those bastards. They'll sting you without a hint of remorse

Sorry I read op post too fast, thought she said werzul

SentFromIpheon · 08/04/2026 21:16

I kill them by spraying hairspray on them. I'd never do it for bees but I am shit scared of wasps so try and kill them they're nasty things

Not this time of year. They're busy busy. Later on when their stomachs stop working they will. But tbf I'd probably be a bit grumpy as well.

Nourishinghandcream · 08/04/2026 21:17

If the window is open, can't you just leave it to find it's own way out?
They don't want to sting you so unless you are allergic and can't take the risk, I would leave well alone.

We had a couple in our garden today and the biggest problem is stopping Ddog snapping at them!🐝🐶

Maybe ShakyBake IS the pest controller and touting for business!😆🐝🐝🐝🐝

ShakyBake

what’s a werzel?!

SunflowerL · 08/04/2026 21:26

Might be a queen at this time of year looking for somewhere to nest. Get that bitch out ASAP or she'll be setting up home for her ferocious offspring before you know it!

I also need to know this.

ohyesido · 08/04/2026 21:27

please don’t waste your time trying to save it, kill it dead before you find it in your bed and it stings you.

and close the window so it can’t summon its mates with a pheromone

Err no. Just popped up after watching tv downstairs I’ve left light on in bedroom. The bugger is inside the lampshade on the bulb.

The window is open but it doesn’t seem to be shifting. What with this and the rats in the garden I’m overrun with wildlife atm.

Woah what?

Dying wasps are detected by others who then come to avenge them, I swear it’s true
