Why are the Americans not out protesting to get Trump to stand down and maybe force a snap election.

He needs out as president.

Protests picking up now.

I suspect the networks have a bit more time to cover it ?

Give him the Peace Prize RIGHT NOW!

Who, the Pakistan president?

RedTagAlan · 08/04/2026 05:28

What are we getting now. From CNN.Does he not know ?

"Trump says he believes China helped get Iran to negotiate ceasefire
By Yong Xiong and Ross Adkin
President Donald Trump said he believes China helped get Iran to negotiate a ceasefire, AFP news agency reported.
“I hear yes,” Trump said in a telephone call when asked by AFP if Beijing had been involved in pushing Tehran – a key ally – to negotiate on a truce.
Asked for comment on reports Beijing had nudged Iran towards the ceasefire, a spokesperson for the Chinese embassy in Washington told CNN that since the conflict began China had “been working to help bring about a ceasefire and end to the conflict.”
“China welcomes all efforts conducive to peace,” Liu Pengyu told CNN.
“We hope relevant parties will seize the opportunity for peace, bridge differences through dialogue and put an early end to the conflict.”
CNN has reached out to China’s foreign affairs ministry for comment.
Beijing previously played a key part in brokering a rapprochement between Iran and longtime rival Saudi Arabia in 2023. And Chinese leader Xi Jinping’s alternative vision for international security includes Beijing as a mediator."

Another TRUTH

Is this "all hail the peacemaker" ?

logicisall · 08/04/2026 05:38

Morning all!
I note that a time was not given for the ceasefire. My contacts in two different countries in the ME have reported attacks continuing. Kuwait at 1am UK time. The feeling I'm getting is that they don't trust either side.

Two points on that 10 point peace plan.
The rest of the world, via tolls, will have to pay to repair/replace infrastructure caused by Israel and the US.
Israel won't agree to stop their attacks on Lebanon

Yup, His TRUTH he just posted he said "big money will be made",

By who ? These are not new oil fields ? The oil was already there, bought and sold. Trillions of damage cost by his stupid war. And it is looking very much like the Iranian "regime" will be even stronger.

I just watched RTE news. Irish truckers demonstrating because they will go bust in weeks because of fuel costs. They wont me making big money. They are losing big money.

MsJinks · 08/04/2026 05:57

I think this will soon be the 13th, 14th, 15th war the greatest, bigliest peace maker stopped. He will also claim regime change in Iran (he already has made this claim) and the golden era for the ME.

Whoever believes this shite is definitely low information - I love this phrase!

I sort of expected TACO but as he seems more and more unhinged I wasn’t sure and Iran weren’t as obsequious as some, which makes him madder.

I can’t see Israel stopping in Lebanon, even if they stop bombing Iran - were they involved at all or is Netanyahu hiding a bit behind the US?

I can’t see Trump paying $2m toll fees either.

I understand no one wants Iran to have nuclear weapons - but I don’t understand what right the US has to dictate this nor to take away their uranium - personally I’m team Hilary on the US having nuclear under Trump - can we make him give them up?

I woke in the night and was so glad to read of the ceasefire - it’s quite novel to me that Pakistan brokered it so I checked I wasn’t dreaming it this morning ha. The world certainly has changed.

Maybe Trump will now ignore or forget this ever happened and some grown ups can complete the full ceasefire.

This was quite scary - wonder what crisis it will be termed? And what history will make of this.

I was wondering about PTSD. It's not something I know about, but I do know it's not something to be made light of given the people who are really devastated by it.

Anyone here that understands it who can share their thoughts ?

MushMonster · 08/04/2026 06:50

TokyoSushi · 07/04/2026 22:59

Right, prediction: there will be some crappy deal to cover a TACO, there will be no apocalypse tonight, all Don has done is made everything worse but it’ll somehow be fashioned into the Bigliest Victory The World Has Ever Seen, Nobody’s Ever Seen Anything Like It, They Said It Couldn’t Be Done etc etc.

But nothing will be done, no regime change, no improvement for the Iranian people, Strait still controlled by Iran, but no apocalypse, today.

It’s TACO Tuesday folks, and with that I bid you goodnight!

I think we will all have to chant how great this ceasefire and END OF THE WAR this was. How great Trump is. How grateful we ALL are!
Pakistan did its part, now it is our turn to praise the emperor's new clothes.
Regarding this of charging to use the Strait.... though I get that Iran needs to repair some bridges, that US and Israel brought down. And the Gulf States need to fix quite a bit of damage, no way they can charge such a fee in the long term. It is Israel and US who should consider paying reparations, though I can imagine it will be a sticky point on their peace treaty.
But, as life goes on, thank God! We shall start the work on renewables, which we are overdue for, and find new alliances and trade routes. It is a new day and it will be a new World!

I don’t know much about it - but have heard good things of EMDR to help with it.

I don’t mean to sound flippant but I expect 90m Iranians are at least at risk of it.

I grew up in the Cold War, and watched Threads as a teen - based in my home city and it frightened me.

Also very scary was a bit after I was filing on a temp job at the local hospital, and found (and naughtily read!) some plans on what to do in case of a nuclear event - there was a map with zones on whether to treat or not and estimates of drs available/ people injured etc - think it was an old one and definitely it was later realised such estimates of damage weren’t accurate. However, I lived in a ‘no hope let ‘em die zone’ - the reality of these was scary - but I was also young, immortal and more interested in fun then!
Edited to add - this level of stuff doesn’t put me into anxiety or PTSD but so much of PTSD is very personal.

My own Mum only started talking about the local bombings (WWII) when she was around 8 years old in her very much later years so I imagine she just sort of ensured she never thought about it - possible indicator there was some severe impact - maybe we’d call it PTSD today and try and resolve it but I don’t know.

A ramble without much info, and also to say I’m ok Jack, which is only good for me and selfish.

I cannot imagine living in the ME with the anxiety you must have - and yes I think some around the world will struggle with this shitshow too - I tend to compartmentalise stuff, so poor things get accommodated that way too, I’m lucky I barely worry either and focus on today - maybe I have a Trump like attention span! - incredibly hard if you’ve more worry in you. I do find it helps for me to be active eg I am deeply concerned re the far right and my kids’ futures so I go on counter protests to at least feel I’m addressing it.

logicisall · 08/04/2026 06:58

Re PTSD.
My FIL ran away to fight for Canada in WWII. When he returned home, to his dying day, refused to talk about his experiences. He too compartmentalised in order to cope; today he would have been diagnosed with PTSD.

Starmer off to ME to meet with leaders, discuss opening of SoH.

RedTagAlan · 08/04/2026 07:13

I wonder if MAGA will notice that Trumps off ramp is from an A road to a farm track? Because looking at the Iranian plan coming out, if true, and if that is what Trump agreed as a starting point, it's not a win of any sort.

NO.
Because they will be listening to Trump crow about victory while ignoring the two week clause.

Ohh. He does like his little jaunt's don't he. Always jetting somewhere to a world leaders meeting. But yesterday he could not spare the British people a few moments to reassure them brit bases would not be used.

I would much rather he spent time at home on policy to deliver his manifesto, and to keep reform out.

Disclaimer. In the non political spirit of this thread, that is not me on about Tories v Labour v libs etc. We have mixed politics of course. But I do think anti Trump = anti Farage.

:-)

MushMonster · 08/04/2026 07:26

Now, for the future.....
Nobody can make money out of wars or we will be back at square one faster than the speed of light! Cuba will be next and we will have Trump and Putin at our ports in 5 minutes, demanding our blood and cash.
Yes, to help rebuild the structures needed for the civilians, of course. No effing way any of these idiots are going to line their pockets with anything!
And to clarify, because I was asked a while back in other threats, I consider the US, Israel and Iran leadership equaly useless, idiotic and crazy. The whole lot!

UYN · 08/04/2026 07:28

What a relief. I really wish I'd stayed up until @PickAChew 's post at 23.41 - would have slept a lot more soundly!

Fingers crossed that this madness is over.

I was looking up for Starmer's firm words yesterday, indeed.
Nothing official came out....

And the Guardian spent ink talking about Farage. Who the hell cares if Farage would or would not allow the use of the bases? I may stop reading the Guardian... I am still thinking about it....
