What are your favourite teabags? Currently like twinings everyday but trying to budget.

For me it's my Nanna's favourite PG Tips. Followed by Yorkshire Tea and then Tetley in terms of tea.

I've tried fruit teas, herbal teas, Earl Grey and Redbush, but nope - it has to be good old PG for me.

JustGiveMeReason · 01/04/2026 15:47

Yorkshire, and Yorkshire de-caff.
Both a class above the rest.

When this has been asked previously, there has usually been a realisation that it depends a bit on where you are in the country, as the water varies a lot, but Yorkshire Tea seems to come out as top ranking wherever you are.

Brightbluesomething · 01/04/2026 18:50

I always used to prefer Redbush as I’m not a huge tea drinker. But someone left a box of Yorkshire Tea in my kitchen and I thought waste not want not and gave them a go. I’m a convert, absolutely delicious. Also I’m a northerner and they were free.

Twinnings everyday

Thompson red/green or Barry’s my favourites, otherwise M&S extra strong in the blue box really dislike PGtips/Tetley it’s dishwater not keen on Yorkshire tea either.

I know this is a heinous crime, but Yorkshire biscuit tea 🫣

I love the Yorkshire biscuit tea! I always start my day with normal Yorkshire but the rest of the day it’s biscuit tea for me!

I do have a teapot and strainer but how useful is it for just a cup?

I have an individual strainer, looks like a little ball on a handle you'll fill up around half a loose tea.

It's okay, it's a bit more fuffing round than a teabag. Depending on the moods I am in we use loose tea when we are both wanting more than one cup and sitting together so weekend afternoons and in the morning for breakfast.

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 02/04/2026 08:16

It varies - lately I’ve got into M & S ones. Think they’re just called Gold. I like Yorkshire Tea too.

Bjorkdidit · 02/04/2026 08:31

Another vote for Thompson's Gold. I stock up when they're on offer, which is quite frequent, just use the Trolley app to find out where.

Myblueclematis · 02/04/2026 08:31

I like Thompson and Williamson teas but am currently using Clipper for the second time round.

I have also used Duchy teabags but the others seem to be stronger tasting so I preferred those. I hate weak tea.

Sainsburys assam is the best of all (teabags) and half the price of Twinings

Ooh another contender! I have a big Sainsbury’s near me too.

Yorkshire decaf
Twinings Assam
Twinings Lady Grey

ThirdStorm · 02/04/2026 08:35

Typhoo! I was devasted when they were going under but they were brought thankfully, still available on some shops!

Honestly some things are not worth budgeting on - caffeine is one of them imo (along with cream cheese, loo roll, coffee, vodka, shoes, coats and a mattress).

This is not an extensive list but it is the hill I'm willing to die on. Life is so miserable and bleak, we deserve a little treat.

I have some Absolut vodka I was given ages ago but I’m not a huge vodka drinker now compared to when I was younger!

I’ve tried various teas in the past, Clipper, M&S, Typhoo, teapigs and I keep coming back to Twinings! I agree good tea is worth a lot.

See when I was a teenager I loved earl grey with sugar (yes I know!) that’s all I’d drink! Now it’s normal tea! And I love the scent of lapsang souchong.

Thompsons blue .
I do tea leaves at the weekend using Yorkshire Gold or Sainsbury’s Gold or Red. I used to get a huge bag of Campbell’s tea but it is not easy to find. I did come across it online in a London shop which sells household cleaning goods.

rumred · 02/04/2026 08:42

Lidl Gold Label. Won in a blind taste test against Yorkshire, which I still love but can't really afford.

Sugar! 😅.

If I have Earl Grey I have it with lemon, no milk. Lady grey, I just drink black. No additions.

ThatQuickCat · 04/04/2026 13:09

I love Yorkshire tea. It just just hits different. I'm a tea drinker. (coffee gives me migraines so never touch it) If I'm out and somewhere has Yorkshire tea on the menu it makes my day because I know its going to be a good brew! 😀

WimbyAce · 04/04/2026 13:22

I drink Lidl tea. Its not the best but I drink a lot of tea so had to go with affordable.

totk · 04/04/2026 13:23

Thompsons Irish or Gold!

Gatekeeper · 04/04/2026 13:24

Rington's Extra Fresh...local family run company in The North East. Best tea in the world and the best ginger snaps! My Granny bought the tea 1910 onwards as did all the family and my Mam's family as well.
We still have a travelling salesman call with his basket of wares

Flannelfeet · 04/04/2026 13:28

Wish I was into tea to try all the different kinds, think i drink 1 a month if that. I read on here a while ago about someone drinking fortnum and masons tea in silk bags, had to do a Google to see what these were like and thought fuck me, id need to remortgage my house to drink those. 😆 🤣

queenceleste · 04/04/2026 13:33

I’m almost 💯 tea leaves now. Assam loose leaf with a one mug tea strainer.
Tea bags don’t have enough taste for me now.
