Interestingly re the repeat threads on here about discounts at attractions for those on benefits, it was one of the daily questions on YouGov today. I happened to do them as I was sent a survey - I then checked the results. I’m not sure that’s what some posters on here (or YouGov) were expecting…

I have deduced that the scheme means there aren't enough rich people around who want to spend money at these attractions.

ChatGPT agrees with me 😂

Guardian article about Reform donor Dan Delo and crapto ⬆

What does a billionaire with money laundering convictions and a pardon from Trump want from Farage I wonder.

"So what attracted you to the millionaire Paul Daniels ?"

Notonthestairs · 11/04/2026 12:34

Trump has gutted crapto regulation. Disbanded the Department of Justice National Crapto Enforcement team and ordered the Maket Integrity and Major Frauds Unit to cease investigation.

money laundering paradise.

Its so bloody obvious that Farage has promised the equivalent.

The free speech champion is making legal threats to those who reference his 2022 US conviction

Yes, I noted the Times article about him made no mention of the money laundering conviction or Trump's pardon.

Notonthestairs · 11/04/2026 12:44

Will await the letter from Addleshaws.

There definitely appears to be an uptick in the art of sticking your nose into other peoples business. Which is a clear prelude to the snoopy-stasi state that would be required to keep any far right government in power.

Probably lubricated by the hammer blows of "...if it saves one child ..." technique of closing debates by putting a target on your opponents back of the past quarter century.

Fun days out for the Victorians used to be going to slum houses. Called slumming. Mainly in the East End of London - Bethnal Green and Whitechapel.

It was an "attraction" as popular as going to galleries or a museum.

LittleBowSheep · 11/04/2026 14:18

I've just posted this on the US thread but thought some here might appreciate it.

Greek Easter involves the burning of an effigy of Judas. This year they've given him blond hair...and we all know why.

That is lovely! Did it hurt?

cardibach · 11/04/2026 16:06

Love that @pointythings !

BIossomtoes · 11/04/2026 16:31

That’s so pretty Pointy.

It was surprisingly much less painful than I was expecting. The first 10 minutes were a bit ouchy, then the adrenaline kicked in. The shading hurt a bit more, but there isn't a lot of it. I'm under 5 hours out and it doesn't hurt at all, it isn't oozing and I can moisturise it without pain. Mind you, it's delicate linework - if I were having serious blackwork or colour, it would hurt a lot more. Ditto if I picked another part of my body - upper arm is easy.

I'm so happy with how it turned out, the artist who did it is a specialist in this sort of delicate stuff.

DuncinToffee · 11/04/2026 18:03

Lovely @pointythings

Didn’t they put second skin on to keep over it for a week? That’s what I’ve had for both my recent ones. Healing was a breeze.

None of my kids have ever had that on any of their tattoos and they have all healed over beautifully. I guess different places follow different protocols. But honestly I have no pain at all.

I had one without too, and it healed fine with no pain. The second skin was better though. Think it’s becoming more common.

Young folk (where i learned to word "sleeve") told me that you wrap clingfilm around it ...

Not a fan myself, but appreciate well done ones - and @pointythings are definitely gallery quality 😀

Clingfilm is the traditional choice! Second skin is truly brilliant though.

pointythings · 11/04/2026 19:30

We went with clingfilm. I'm letting DD1 guide me re aftercare, she is an experienced canvas.

Next one will be about my cats, I want to use the same artist. And DD1 is planning her one which will be a two day job and will be about finally coming to terms with everything that happened with her dad.

cardibach · 11/04/2026 19:35

Clingfilm has worked for years - nothing wrong with that!
