I was listening to PM on my way home and they had a market analyst on who explained why the UK pays more for its borrowing by referring to the 'moron premium', as in the Truss budget. Fabulous.

So yesterday I went with friends to watch Project Hail Mary. We all loved it, despite it being a long watch, and thankfully the cinema had great comfortable seats.

Today is the day Labour launched their manifesto for the May elections. Thought it was a good, solid launch.

DuncinToffee · 30/03/2026 18:49

Kemi Badenoch today continued her “fuel Britainnia” campaign to extract “every last drop” of oil and gas from the North Sea, by visiting a company whose oil executive owner has so far donated more than £250,000 to the Conservatives since she became its leader

Hmm

Their is an Ask Kemi session on LBC at 7. I am not sure I can bear listening.

The film was brilliant. I was so worried about the adaptation as I am a huge fan of the book, but they did it justice. Amaze, amaze, amaze.

Glad to meet a fan! I loved the sentiments and the backstory (apart from the obvious - running away).

BestIsWest · 30/03/2026 20:19

I’m going on Wednesday. I’m sorry to say that I’ve started the book several times and not got very far despite loving The Martian.

The UK government is exploring triggering the break clause in Palantir’s NHS contract, the FT reports.

Pleased to see that you had a good time at the march @MsJinks and thank you for telling us all about it

The whole thing sounds ridiculous.

DuncinToffee · 30/03/2026 22:54

Why @derxa ?

Why @derxa ?

The leader of the Greens turns my stomach. He’s a complete charlatan.

What has that got o do with the march and MsJinks' post?

Edited

Isn’t he the face representing the marchers or have I got that wrong. He was dancing around on a stage at one point.

He gave a speech. He was no more the face than Dianne Abbott, Corbyn and Sadiq Khan were.

DuncinToffee · 30/03/2026 23:35

It was an anti far-right march organised by Together Alliance.

Well Diane and Jeremy have had the same views for many decades. I admire them actually. Polanski not so much.

He couldn’t hold views when he wasn’t even born. 🙄

We could say the same...

Efacsen · 31/03/2026 03:15

Indeed

pointythings · 31/03/2026 07:11

I mean, marching to show opposition to far right hate and rising fascism sounds pretty great to me, but you do you, @derxa .

So the Together Alliance was formed after the Tommeh March last September. It was believed that this type of right wing did not have the majority numbers, but were shouting the loudest and doing better organising.

It was formed by many organisations concerned about the above and Trade Unions are heavily involved, and initially we just heard that Lenny Henry, Paloma Faith, Wolf Alice were supporting it - didn’t hear about other speakers/acts as it was still being worked on.

Polanski didn’t head this up, and wasn’t mentioned even at first. However, he would clearly support it, and the Green Party presence there, so will then have been interested in going and showing his support I imagine.

As he’s like quite big in politics now then people will want to hear him, so I don’t know if he was asked to speak or he asked to do so, as I don’t know how it works, but it is more of an event if bigger name speakers are speaking so I guess it was mutually agreeable.

Like Diane - she is keen on the women stuff and gets involved with the Women Against the Far Right - heading up some marches, speaking etc - she doesn’t organise or put herself up as the headline though.

I didn’t see any of them, as I was so far back we didn’t get to the final bit and needed to be back on the coaches. But it was a great day, not ridiculous, to see so many and everyone working together under one banner.

You should have come along.

What a strange thing to plop about.
