Useful, that ECHR.

Piggywaspushed · 29/03/2026 07:30

The US had No Kings protests yesterday, too. Huge numbers , especially in Philadelphia.

Wonder if @MsJinks is on the protest march?

Hey - yes I was! Amazing day, and so heartening to see the many, many different groups marching together.

I see there’s a discrepancy with numbers between police/organisers - I’m here to say it would have been the organisers figures. Where I was standing we didn’t get to move for nearly an hour and a half - I honestly thought there was a hold up but no the front started just after 1 and it took that time to filter back it was so big. ETA that it was huge behind us too - I heard someone say they didn’t start moving till half 3!

We didn’t even get to Whitehall due to the having to return to the coach at 4 like quite a few groups.

Lots of happy and fun groups - singing, activities- Extinction Rebellion had an awesome drama set up, and just stop oil a great dress up. Choose love were so energetic and fun near, then there were steel drums, dogs with flyers and so much more - No Kings marched as well so some fun Trump stuff.

Very long day to stand in a crowd for a couple of hours pre moving and miss the end lol but the vibe was buzzy, happy and it was a great day.

I can also confirm the police looked a lot more chilled than the on the Tommeh March ha!
ETA size of March behind us.

The Reform party Treasurer is citing articles 6 and 7 of the European Convention on Human Rights in writing to the government to oppose the proposed £100k cap on donations from voters resident abroad.

Reform would quit the ECHR

They don’t want their own rights taken away, silly. Just ours.

Kemi Badenoch admits that her plan to expand drilling in the North Sea, whilst scrapping Net Zero plans, probably won't make a direct difference to what people pay.

"The drilling isn't going to go directly onto people's bills" she tells the BBC

Revealed: Farage’s farming adviser calls for wheat prices to double - despite cost of living crisis

Coupled with Reform’s policies to import US chlorinated chicken & frack rural areas, it’s clear that Farage would be a disaster for the countryside:

The important thing is that she is on record (Neil Record) for her fossil fuel donors/clients.

I wouldn't want to create a them and us, but also don't see why offences against elected officials should not be treated as aggravated in the same way hate crimes are.

I wonder what the legal implications of adding "elected official" t o the equality act would be ?

PandoraSocks · 29/03/2026 15:49

It is not a million miles away from the sort of thing some of the Labour haters on MN write. Maybe he is on here!

Piggywaspushed · 29/03/2026 17:18

Yes, it has a familiar content for sure!

I am enjoying the fact that he accidentally said that someone who urgently needs NHS care should vote Labour.

And here is James Orr again, at CPAC Hungary

Reform's James Orr shared a stage with Martin Helme, the leader of the far-right Estonian Conservative People’s Party, who has previously been accused of making a white power gesture

Bloody hell -

In 2013, Mr Helme said that his immigration policy was “If you’re Black, go back,” adding: “I want Estonia to be a white country”. He also appeared to make an alleged “white power” gesture at his swearing-in ceremony as Estonia’s finance minister in 2019, a role he held until 2021.

Karistyleaftea · 29/03/2026 19:30

I thought the BBC constantly reported on Farage and Reform?
Seemingly not the challenges though.
Wonder if it was mentioned on LK today, I have to leave the room now when it is on.

Never mind all that Jane, the serious news is the theft of 12t of KitKats!

This was nice whilst it lasted

The number of job vacancies rose for the first time in seven months after a “rare moment of optimism” in the labour market shortly before the outbreak of war in Iran
