It does help to keep my Google feed mostly interesting though among the politics, squirrels, needle craft, pokemon and buses, it still tries to throw me the odd article WARNING!!! me that everything I knew about watering my hydrangeas is wrong or that I need to act now to make sure I'm polishing my windows in the most effective way.

PickAChew · 26/03/2026 18:14

If Smudge was on a picket line, I wouldn't dare cross it.

It's a conspiracy, I tell you!

I had my doubts about that data, but only based on the cohort of young people around my 3 kids - not a religious one among them.

Farage totally loses it when he’s actually held to account. Pretty much every time. If he get’s an easy ride and isn’t challenged he’s fine.

I wasn’t able to take part in #BBCQT from Clacton tonight, as we were told MPs are not allowed to appear on the show in their own constituencies. I’m sure I’ll be back on before too long!

The excuses are in. It won’t surprise you to know the BBC have no such rule and MPs have appeared when QT has been in their constituency.

It's a little like Reform supporters ...

Plaid Cymru candidate stands down over comment he made on social media.
Reform stand by their candidate who appears to be mimicking a Hitler moustache and Nazi salute in a photo. They don’t hold people to account for things they might have done when younger. Fair play, at least they are consistent (see Nigel).

Dan Thomas, leader of Reform in Wales which had distributed a screenshot of the message, said Plaid leader Rhun ap Iorwerth should "give urgent clarity on whether he supports these comments".

Oh, the hypocrisy!

Glad the PC candidate stood down. Idiot.

The government has announced the formal start of the promised official inquiry into the violent policing at the Orgreave coking plant during the 1984-85 miners’ strike and the discredited prosecutions of 95 men that followed

It seems that prospective candidates in Reform haven't been to the school of Maga, (because the lecturer Farage didn't show up) and if those stupid enough did go, then they obviously took out their Bibles and read them in a circle. On damp grass.

I checked our local candidate, and yes, former Tory.

Was so about to give Tugendhat a round of applause for taking Bruce by surprise and agreeing that the Tories had left a terrible defence legacy. But then he spoiled it by answering the next question with ‘a government shouldn’t still be blaming the outgoing government after 2 years.’

Imagine a government still doing that after 14 years, Tom.

BIossomtoes · 27/03/2026 09:25

I was heartened by QT, Skinner was nowhere near as bad as I thought he would be and the debate was civilised. I wish every episode was like it.

MsJinks · 27/03/2026 09:51

I posted this on the Trump thread - unfortunately, this morning I came across a tweet from Zia Yusef showing Farage at an event - all light shows, camera and Farage ‘aura’, as Yusef called it 🤢 - very ass linking tweet all round.

So Trumpesque it is scary - some comments were very in line with Trump supporter type ones too.

We can literally see daily what Trump does for the US, and it’s baffling that this is used as a model and that so many fall for it or want it here.

I queried on the other thread the link with media/AI - all designed like gambling machines to make you want more - but politics shouldn’t be set up like this - once upon a time it was considered quite boring by a lot of folk - great to get engagement now, but is this the way to get full engagement or just for people to follow certain ‘highlights’ as part of downtime and then think they’re involved though actually it’s just pretty pictures and sound bites like watching a cartoon they have got addicted to.

I also saw a Reform stage set saying Reform ‘Will fix it’ - I have to assume this is fake AI - it’s difficult to tell always though.

DuncinToffee · 27/03/2026 10:04

I have seen it confirmed that the 'will fix it' was not AI, it was real. They have been using it for a while now.

Meanwhile in Germany, the AfD party is quietly pressing members to dial back overt displays of affinity for the U.S. president in the run up for elections.

If anyone is interested, proof that it was real

So is the slogan Reform UK Wll Fix It a reference to the animated children's tv show Bob the Builder or the paedophile Jim savile's show?

RafaistheKingofClay · 27/03/2026 10:49

Got to be Saville. Bob the builder is more ‘Can we fix it? Yes we can!’

I agree about QT, @BIossomtoes if only more of our politics was like that. Skinner was much better than I think any of the reform MPs would have been.

PickAChew · 27/03/2026 11:01

Just need a wobble board and the ick will be next level.

placemats · 27/03/2026 11:44

No doubt square plastic garish gold badges with red ribbon attached will be handed out next.
