I left some Chinese food on the counter top last night as forgot to put it in the fridge. It’s prawn dish. It’s chilly here overnight and I put it in the fridge first thing this morning. Would you eat it tonight?

No, and I’m a very relaxed type of person with all this stuff normally!

susiedaisy1912 · 22/03/2026 15:58

Nope

Fluffypuppy1 · 22/03/2026 15:59

No. Even if it was the only food left in the house.

Hatty65 · 22/03/2026 16:01

Blimey. Yes, I would. Slighly surprised others are so adamant. I know it's prawns, but it's cooked. And I'm assuming you don't live in Florida?

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 22/03/2026 16:02

I would. I have.

Yourangduckie · 22/03/2026 16:03

You must not eat ANY chilled food that has been at room temperature for more than 60 mins! Look it up, it’s called the food danger zone. I also think you need to look up Heat Resistant Bacteria! 🦠

Tontostitis · 22/03/2026 16:06

Yep cold Chinese or Indian for bfast is my favorite. Prawns are my go to so yes I've often eaten them. I put a lid on the container leave them in my admittedly cold kitchen overnight and either eat for bfast or refrigerate til lunch.

The rule is 4 hours.

FKAT · 22/03/2026 16:19

Yes I would and have. I would nuke it in the microwave then eat it.

I've only ever had food poisoning from pork.

Wickedlittledancer · 22/03/2026 16:20

Nope. Not a chance. There is no way I’d want the food enough to risk thay kind of food poisoning.

MrsBennetsPoorNervesAreBack · 22/03/2026 16:21

No, I wouldn't. Not worth the risk tbh.

Catcatcatcatcat · 22/03/2026 16:21

No

Purplecatshopaholic · 22/03/2026 16:25

Golly, surprised it’s so adamant. I’m eating them right now. Will let you how I get on, lol..

I would eat it myself. I wouldn’t let the children have it though!

DH hates prawns, so would be spared the decision for himself.

daysofpearlyspencer · 22/03/2026 16:29

I would as the prawns already cooked and my kitchen is bloody cold overnight. I eat stuff left out and past sell by dates regularly.
