I drink at least 6 cuppa’s a day
how do you take your cuppa

No, it’s a brew.

watermybegonias · 21/03/2026 07:17

I feel your pain and will raise you A coffee.

JustAMiddleAgedDirtBagBaby · 21/03/2026 07:18

I really dislike the phrase 'hating on', where just 'hating' would do.

No, it’s a brew.

Now brew is fine , there’s just something about cuppa I hate

It doesn’t bother me. However “spag bol” or even worse “spag bowl” and someone saying “can I get” really do bother me.

Offherrockingchair · 21/03/2026 07:25

When MIL says ‘sarnie’ it turns my stomach.

I agree. It doesn’t make sense.

Me too.
Also “ick”.
People in glass houses and all that.

I feel similarly about ‘biccie’ - you’re not saving any time so just say biscuit

agree with pp regarding brew.

CallingOnTheMegaphone · 21/03/2026 07:29

Paned, cariad?

pinkpalmleaves · 21/03/2026 07:30

Love the word cuppa, having one now! Hate the word bubba

GlassHalfFullplease · 21/03/2026 07:34

Agree with them all, also:

Hubby
Wifey
Going on my/our "hollies/holibobs."

It sounds like an overgrown toddler doesn't it.

There are so many more as well, but my mind has gone blank this morning.

PersephoneParlormaid · 21/03/2026 07:16

No, it’s a brew.

It’s only a brew if it’s iron 😉

Wildgoat · 21/03/2026 07:38

I feel the same also about brew, and lush makes me irrationally annoyed, if used about anything other than greenery,

Janeaway · 21/03/2026 07:39

Agree, OP. I also hate 'spud'

Hopefulsalmon · 21/03/2026 07:47

Don't mind cuppa, though I'd say brew. I absolutely hate 'baby daddy'.

DonewhatIcando · 21/03/2026 07:48

@hattie43
Try this one for size.
My new boss says "pot of tea"
If we need a catch up he says "let's grab a pot of tea" but it's not an actual pot as in teapot (are they even a thing anymore) he means a big mug of of tea.
Makes my teeth itch every time he says it 😬

BigButtons · 21/03/2026 07:49

Lush- omg -I hate the use of that word. Couldn’t care less about cuppa.

Squirrelblanket · 21/03/2026 07:49

I absolutely hate 'brew'.

LlynTegid · 21/03/2026 07:50

I don't like the word either.

Just stop following said person on Facebook. Or better still, leave Facebook.

Ca2026 · 21/03/2026 07:53

Oh I’m a cuppa girl sorry! Can’t say I use it on Facebook but would ask someone if they fancied meeting for a cuppa. Not sure if it’s a Yorkshire thing?

Also tell the kids were having Spag Bol, mainly because I can’t spell it (or maybe I’m common from the tones of this post?).

There are a few others on the post that I hate though (not hate on, just hate 😉).

Ca2026 · 21/03/2026 07:54

Although now I’m giving it some though, I wouldn’t say it out loud, like at home or in the office etc, only in text.

LaMarschallin · 21/03/2026 07:57

pinkpalmleaves · 21/03/2026 07:30

Love the word cuppa, having one now! Hate the word bubba

Also hate "bubba" - they often grow up into a "kiddo". Cf "pupper" and "doggo".
Drinks-wise, I've posted elsewhere today that I don’t like "a wine" or "a few wines" whereas "a gin" or "a few beers" sound fine to me.
Unlike a PP, I don't mind "a coffee" but dislike "a tea".
Never use "cuppa" or "brew".

history505 · 21/03/2026 07:59

I hate ‘cuppa’ as well. Not sure why, I have a pretty high tolerance for similar words eg spag bol. Maybe because it conjures in my mind someone aaahhhing in content and slurping. I definitely don’t have a high tolerance for food and drink noises.
