It's extremely annoying because it makes no grammatical sense. They've missed out 'to be'. Or better still say 'needs to go...'

Regional dialect. Don’t visit Scotland if it winds you up that much.

I loathe " can I get" 😖

One of the meanings of the verb ‘to get’ is ‘to receive’. That’s the sense in which it’s used in this context.

As long as someone says please, I don’t see what’s wrong with them asking if they can receive (get) a cup of coffee in a cafe, for example 🤷‍♀️

I'm in Scotland...... (and it's so feckin irritating).

Then you'll know it's perfectly normal, widespread, and not incorrect for up here.

People who go to Scotland and object to the way people there speak, might even be a bit irritating.

@Ironingablueshirt has explained the history of the word already - I still don't have to like it.

Just checked that my feeling that cuppa is new is correct.

https://books.google.com/ngrams/graph?content=cuppa&year_start=1800&year_end=2022&corpus=en&smoothing=3

It always grates when someone writing something with an historical setting inserts 'cuppa' into a 1940s-60s situation when it wouldn't have been in common currency.

Google Books Ngram Viewer

Google Ngrams: cuppa, 1800-2022

No of course you don't have to like it! It's just part of our normal way of speaking and not incorrect at all. It's like saying 'I loathe outwith' or any other random part of our everyday speech.

Although youse is pretty bad...!
