Can’t help feeling sorry for Victoria Beckham

I’m not interested in VB at all for fame etc but even at a distance I can’t help but feel sorry for her as a mother having comments thrown about by her estranged son and his wife. Latest is the DiL saying her parents see the Beckham lad as like their son. That must be so hurtful. I can’t imagine being in that situation. The connection with your child is so deep and she seems no different in that respect so it must be awful. I hope there is a way to mend it long term.

You do realise that the DM makes up stories to sell more rags?

anddeepbreathandsigh · 20/03/2026 15:09

Everyone has arguments and disappointments within families, cruel things can be said in the heat of the moment, but to have no communication with any of your parents or siblings is so extreme. Who gains long term? A bit of forgiveness and compromise goes a long way. I just hope there is a way back for all concerned.

I’m sure her many millions of pounds can pay for therapy

twentyeightfishinthepond · 20/03/2026 15:10

Yes and the Beckhams are all over their PR. Go away. We don’t care.

Yes, obviously there is a market in pushing this but the estrangement is there and the gutter press will milk it.

just seems so sad though

I’d reserve judgement and sympathy because none of us know the full story

that said even with all this shit going on they still can’t do anything privately without releasing it to the press tbh it does seem like he has a point about how his mum and dad put media money and image before him

Really? There isn’t any amount of therapy that could compensate for not having a relationship with my child. I just can’t imagine how awful it must be.

Honestly these things aren’t worth getting invested in. Every so often all of these ‘celebs’ have to get their names in the paper.

Nobody knows what happened, which is why I say it’s not worth getting invested and wasting your empathy

LlynTegid · 20/03/2026 15:15

It should be a private matter, regardless of who is to blame for where it has got to.

Yes, you’re probably right. It just blows my mind as a parent. You’re only as happy as your saddest child is the phrase I think that comes to mind though.

You know absolutely nothing about their private Ives & relationships. You know a few snippets from what both sides have chosen to tell the press.

Save your sadness for people who aren't making their living bleating to the media for publicity

They will no doubt be divorced in a few years and he will be running back home with his tail between his legs.

BillieWiper · 20/03/2026 15:20

I feel sorry for someone who appears to have a decades long severe food restriction issue but I don't for the fact it appears she and her husband choose to sell stories endlessly about her own children for profit.

She looks like she's in pain physically. Her eyes are so sunken into her face she does not look well or happy. But she's still selling it as 'perfection.'

And the idea that she's hilariously funny has yet to have been witnessed by the countless cameras she has following her around. Though the narrative remains 'oh yeah she's really funny'. She doesn't seem funny she seems tired and like she's desperate for her husband's affection.

wishingonastar101 · 20/03/2026 15:22

Bit weird if her parents see him as a son... That would indicate she is married to her brother.

SaturdayFive · 20/03/2026 15:28

I think she's extremely lucky, to have becomes so rich on so little talent and minimal work. Her business has been bailed out by her husband so many times.
Estranged kids often have their reasons, none of which we'll ever know in this case because the PR is so tightly managed.

YerMotherWasAHamster · 20/03/2026 15:28

Fame and riches doesn't always make you a functional family and it doesnt always make you happy.
It's very sad all round really. These are still people and will still have feelings.

She must be prone to osteoporosis after all the decades of living on edamame beans and ice cubes.

JuliettaCaeser · 20/03/2026 15:46

She sold her kids op. I don’t feel sorry for her because she made a deal with the devil. Hope the money is worth it.

Viviennemary · 20/03/2026 15:46

I don't like her. Never have. The publicity seeking is off the scale.

Seriously. It's not right and she's smaller than her 14 yo daughter. She broke her foot a while back and she's got the poshest doctors in the world. It seemed to take a really long time to heal. Longer than people I've known in their 70s who rely on the NHS.

I don't think that's quite fair. It's not unusual for fashion brands to need a lot of money. She seems to me to have worked really hard to achieve her goal. Despite the sniggering. She has received many plaudits from the industry.

crayonmess · 20/03/2026 15:51

This is the downside about giving up your privacy and your dcs in pursuit of money.

AnnoyedAsAllHeck · 20/03/2026 15:51

I dont find the fact that her parents see him as a son as being strange. My Mom always has said my husband treated her better than her own son.

After my parents met my future husband (they knew hi a bit before and did not like him then) and spent a bit of time with him, they liked him and then loved him.

In fact, (not in front of my husband), my parents told me that if we got a divorce, they wanted custody of DH.

It's only been 48 years, but I am hopeful that we will stay married, though I may ask for an "open marriage" after another 27 anniversaries.

But that isn’t their way
