What did you eat this Mother’s Day?

We went to book something too late and both my favourite haunts of Hickory’s and Harvester weren’t available, so the kids had pasta and we’ll get a takeout in an hour, probably Mexican I am leaning towards!

What did you end up eating for your ‘main meal’ (whether lunch or dinner) today?

Nando’s takeaway 😋

Nara2k · 15/03/2026 19:07

Well I'm going from my home to my home of origin, which means the latter family will have had dinner at lunch time and the former will be eating in the evening. So no real main meal for me today

RoseDog · 15/03/2026 19:09

Nando’s takeaway followed by a yellow sticker custard slice.

I cooked a roast chicken dinner and it was bloody good if I do say so myself (single parent and DC is too young to cook in case anyone was wondering why I wasn’t cooked for!)

Marmite27 · 15/03/2026 19:11

Greek takeaway, chicken gyros, oregano fries and halloumi. Kids had pizza, chips and chicken tenders. We were in a posh food court.

DustyMaiden · 15/03/2026 19:12

DD cooked a roast with all the trimmings felt like Christmas.

SauvignonBlanche · 15/03/2026 19:12

I’m awaiting Deliveroo’s knock with Chicken Gyros.

mamaduckbone · 15/03/2026 19:12

Roast beef dinner, a glass of rose and crème brûlée - went out for lunch with Dh and ds, my mum, dbro and SIL, dsis and her partner. It was very, very nice!

supafish · 15/03/2026 19:13

Sadly plans changed as I’m poorly so no nice meal out . Led on sofa and frequent trips to the loo . We will try again next week 🤦‍♀️

Catarinabella · 15/03/2026 19:13

Coco Tang Vietnamese in Nottingham, with my 2 daughters and 2 grandsons. Delicious. Happy Mothers day all 💐

WeepingAngelInTheTardis · 15/03/2026 19:14

Roast chicken dinner, had a nice relaxing day playing UNO with the dc and watching films. Was lovely.

SMM2020 · 15/03/2026 19:14

OH cooked a chicken roast dinner and I stuffed in two pastel de natas that I picked up from Lidl earlier.

TeddyBeans · 15/03/2026 19:14

We had Chinese with my parents today - was bloody lovely. Haven't had one for a very long time with the price of everything now

TheGirlWhoLived · 15/03/2026 19:14

I would normally lean towards a Nando’s but we ate that last week. Just checked the Mexican and it says it’s busy, will be very disappointed if I end up with Burger King 😢
That Greek sounds delicious, the only one around here is ‘Eugreeka’ which I think is a dark kitchen chain!? I’ve not tried it but I’m skeptical

Fantastic blue cheese soufflé cooked by DH, sadly only with DS2 as DS1 is working, washing up for other mother’s having lunch/dinner in our local pub. DS1 was very sweet before he went apologising for missing part of the day.

TheGirlWhoLived · 15/03/2026 19:15

Sorry to hear that @supafish , just call it a day and have a redo when you are feeling better!

Just waiting for a Chinese takeaway to arrive. Not sure how busy they'll be with it being Mother's Day, but we pre-ordered for 19:30, so hopefully shouldn't be waiting too long. Kids just gone to bed so I'll probably open the bottle of wine Dh they bought me and have a glass

mondaytosunday · 15/03/2026 19:19

On my own so it was leftovers from last night (a tasty pork rice bowl)! DD is away at uni and my son lives about 80 miles away. I’m on a diet plus no alcohol because of Lent and while tempted to cheat (food not alcohol) I stuck with it. If my kids had been here one of them would have made a roast for lunch

Greenwriter76 · 15/03/2026 19:19

DH cooked pork loins, roast potatoes, veg, huge yorkshires, gravy

TommorrowsToday · 15/03/2026 19:20

"European Breakfast" which we have on celebration days, baguette, cheese, thick sliced ham, hard boiled eggs.

For lunch we started to have prawn cocktail with brown bread triangles, until we realised, the prawns were literally RAW, and so stopped and made a chicken tikka paratha wraps (yet to see if we'll be poisoned by prawns).

Now settling down to slow cooked beef shin, mash and veg.

We don't usually eat much meat, so this is a meaty day.

MsSmartShoes · 15/03/2026 19:24

My favourite- roast ham, new potatoes with butter & chives, salad & pickles.
Even had some champagne and a pear drizzled with a dark chocolate sauce.

Hesma · 15/03/2026 19:26

My daughter made me a breadedshrimp burger in a brioche bun with lettuce, tomato and sweet chilli mayonnaise. Okay, so it was a practice run for her food tech exam tomorrow but it was delicious!

TomatoSandwiches · 15/03/2026 19:26

I've had lots of coffee, some homemade pasta, tomato, anchovy and basil sauce and a slice of chocolate cream swiss roll.

That sounds pretty amazing.

Cinnamon pastries, strawberries and coffee for breakfast. Skipped lunch because it was a later breakfast and had an early dinner of steak, asparagus and truffle mash.
All washed down with a fizz.
