What did you eat this Mother’s Day?

We went to book something too late and both my favourite haunts of Hickory’s and Harvester weren’t available, so the kids had pasta and we’ll get a takeout in an hour, probably Mexican I am leaning towards!

What did you end up eating for your ‘main meal’ (whether lunch or dinner) today?

Had a pretty usual breakfast and lunch although DH did lunch. DH also cooked roast gammon for dinner which was lovely and I know he hates cooking so extra nice. I made a “Bruce Bogtrotter/Matilda” cake with the children today which we had for pudding

gemdrop84 · 15/03/2026 20:46

DC made me breakfast: pancakes with crispy bacon and drizzled with maple syrup washed down with a coffee which was delicious.
I made a roast chicken dinner and we are just sitting down to share a big bar of toblerone in front of the telly.

Sourdough with sausage and egg for brunch.

Roast beef, roast potatoes, brocoli, carrots, peas, stuffing & gravy followed by a huge slice of lemon meringue pie with cream 😋

My fave macaroni cheese and 11 Ferrero Rocher!

Waitingfordoggo · 15/03/2026 21:03

My nearly 18 year-old son cooked for us. We had gyozas, Vietnamese summer rolls and Vietnamese sticky beef. All made from scratch. He’s a total poppet.

popcornandpotatoes · 15/03/2026 21:03

Pub lunch - pie and chips then sticky toffee pudding. Was lovely

Nando’s takeaway 😋

Also Nandos takeaway, but someone else's. Deliveroo brought the wrong order!

moggerhanger · 15/03/2026 21:06

Leftover pizza for late breakfast. Then scones with jam and cream mid-afternoon. Boiled gammon, roasties, mixed fresh veg and parsley sauce for dinner (one of my favourites!)

Coco Tang Vietnamese in Nottingham, with my 2 daughters and 2 grandsons. Delicious. Happy Mothers day all 💐

I LOVE Coco Tang!

I made jerk chicken and rice (single parent, nobody to cook for me), followed by a family pack of maltesers!

golddiamond · 15/03/2026 21:18

I made a paella. It was delicious.

EavanBoland · 15/03/2026 22:55

Croissant and Mimosa for breakfast then Croque Monsieur and fries for lunch with a glass of champagne. Not usually so extravagant but it’s Mother’s Day! That’s me now for the day - going to bed happy

honeyrider · 15/03/2026 22:58

I had a light breakfast of yogurt and satsumas as I was going out for lunch with DH and MIL at a fine dining restaurant and it was fab.

I had a scallop dish for starters, monkfish is a lush sauce plus veg for mains, gateau marjolaine and hazelnut ice cream for dessert then something that was a cross between a profiterole and a bombe but was delicious plus soave wine.

Autumngirl5 · 15/03/2026 23:12

A gorgeous courgette and lemon lasagne, salad and garlic bread cooked by my lovely son. Fruit salad with cream and a couple of glasses of champagne.
I do feel pampered.

blackheartsgirl · 15/03/2026 23:15

I cooked a roast dinner. I’m a lone parent, wasn’t too bad tbf

its just been a pretty normal day for me tbh. I have had some nice cards and chocolate though. And my dd2 bought me a fleece.

lingmerth · 15/03/2026 23:27

My son visited yesterday and we had fish and chips which was delicious. Went out with dd, dsil, dgd and dh today for Sunday lunch at our local pub. Delicious too. Roast beef, turkey and all the trimmings followed by Oreo chocolate cheesecake. Yum yum!

Pinklightning · 15/03/2026 23:30

Two Cinnamon buns, half a packet of breadsticks, three slices of leerdammer light, 4 digestive biscuits, and a sweet waffle. It’s not been a good day. Oh and two M&S Viennese biscuits. The plain ones. So fat and sugar with a side of protein.

ksjnijsnijsnjhgbsk · 15/03/2026 23:31

All you can eat Chinese buffet 😛

MumAsYouAre · 15/03/2026 23:33

Out for a Rudy’s pizza (plus Aperol spritz and tiramisu). Breakfast was a lovely pastry my 4 year old brought me while I had a bath. 🤣 🛀

Pinklightning · 15/03/2026 23:36

Oh I didn’t read the OP properly, thank you adhd, and didn’t realise you said main meal and gave you everything for the day. I’m envious you live somewhere you can get Mexican take aways and hope you enjoyed it.

Cinnamon pastries, strawberries and coffee for breakfast. Skipped lunch because it was a later breakfast and had an early dinner of steak, asparagus and truffle mash.
All washed down with a fizz.

This sounds lovely

ChoresChoresChores · 15/03/2026 23:42

I had a bowl of bran flakes 😆

KeeleyJ · 15/03/2026 23:42

Home alone, jacket potato with HUGE pile of grated cheese, coleslaw and proper butter.

Was pretty amazing 😀.

My 11 year old DD made pasta from scratch for dinner and it was incredible- followed by apple crumble and custard. Currently in a food coma

I made a prawn cocktail, courgette fritters, a lasagna and a marble cake. Everything tasted amazing because I cooked it and chose the menu 😁 The husband and kids did all of the washing and tidying while I curled up on the sofa with my favourite child, the dog.
