What did you eat this Mother’s Day?

We went to book something too late and both my favourite haunts of Hickory’s and Harvester weren’t available, so the kids had pasta and we’ll get a takeout in an hour, probably Mexican I am leaning towards!

What did you end up eating for your ‘main meal’ (whether lunch or dinner) today?

We don't do special food on mothers day. So we had roast chicken cooked by me, dh and ds4, same as every Sunday. I don't like chicken so I had cauliflower cheese and veg, followed by chocolate fudge cake and ice cream. Then I did about half the clearing away and washing up.

The dc gave me presents though and I got a video call from ds1 at university and a hug from ds2 who hates hugs and only hugs anyone voluntarily once a year.

So all in all a very good day.

I thought I'd booked the local pub for 11.30. Got there, no booking. Quickly called a smaller local pub and they had 12 or 2.30. I was bloody starving, stood outside the pub with DH, DMIL and 3 kids so we gratefully took 12. Only problem was it was bloody cold and they literally opened at 12 and it was 5 minutes walk away. Finally let us in about ten too whilst they were still setting up. New menu since last time, food was nice pub grub, play corner for the kids. We'll def go there again over the larger chain one.

So yeah, macaroni cheese with puri puri chicken, garlic bread and salad. Followed by lemon maringue pie and ice cream

A banana for breakfast as wasn’t very hungry

Met (Uni student) DS in town and had a nice bacon Brie and cranberry panino for lunch with 2 coffees in one of our favourite cafes

He came home with me where DH was cooking a lovely chicken roast dinner. Couldn’t manage my chocolates afterwards so will save them for next weekend.

Had a lovely day.
