Flew out to our Villa two weeks ago.. had to nip back home for an appointment on Sunday... flew back Tuesday. Flight was 3 pm. Two women mid to late 40s travelling in pjs . One set from Tu..l know because l have the same .. other womens was shein or temu.. it didn't look like they were running late or anything.. both had full face of makeup and hair styled lovely... no slippers but one in trainers.. other in sliders.. my companion told me they had seen women before flying in pjs. What are your opinions?

Admiring the stealth post “our villa”. Subtle but effective.

And the reference to flying backwards and forwards due to an appointment

milveycrohn · 12/03/2026 13:46

I have travelled overnight twice and not seen anyone in Pjs or worn them myself.
I don't have any joggers, but would wear them if I had. Otherwise I wear loose fitting clothes; always trainers or similar, and layers.
if you ever have to evacuate a plane in a hurry, you want shoes, rather than flip flops, and trousers. The experts recommend having elastic waistes, and trousers that are not loose fitting at the ankles.

IsThistheMiddleofNowhere · 12/03/2026 13:53

Each to their own. I wouldn't do it but can see why some might from a comfort point of view

Harry12345 · 12/03/2026 13:55

No I couldn’t be in pyjamas in public and I couldn’t chat to a grown ass woman in the street or an airport seriously whilst in pyjamas

God no! It’s lazy & slovenly. Not even bothering to get dressed shows they’ve no respect for themselves and others.

Edited

Or, they have enough respect for themselves not to care about the opinions of others, and enough respect for other people not to judge them on how they dress.

Terriblytwee · 12/03/2026 14:01

No because I’m not a slob and I have some self respect.

Offshore111 · 12/03/2026 14:07

Considering my pjs are nothing at all no I would not

Clearinguptheclutter · 12/03/2026 14:17

walking through the airport in your pyjamas, no.(though I'm sure it happens in Liverpool, where I have seen people wander around Asda in their PJs).

Getting dressed into your pyjamas on a flight to australia? Reasonable

I own a limited edition Ferrari. My Daddy bought it for me at the local garaaaage last week. It cost him 1.5 -millies-. Anyway! While I was there, I spotted this family in a three-wheel car, poking around the 2nd hand car lot, wearing TESCO VALUE PJ's!! I was utterly traumatised. Daddy bought me a therapist, on the way home. She lives with my live-in cleaner, in the shed, outside on my 100 acres of land.

Anyway, I digress. I've awful PTSD. I just had to ask my chauffeur to give me a ride into town, whereupons't I spotted what must have been a homeless family wearing nothing but Sports Direct outfits and jogging. I thought maybe they must have been running from the police, so I flung a few pasties out of the window their way. My good deed for the day.

Some thirty years ago, I, wife and two daughters went camping. Wife insisted on nightwear for females. I still remember watching the three in PJs walking from tent to toilet block for their first morning visit on the morning sun. Me: underpants for sleep, trousers/short trousers outside the tent

SleepingStandingUp · 12/03/2026 14:33

In assumed they weren't crumpled and covered with breakfast egg, so y why does it matter if thry technically labelled as sleep clothes? I sometimes sleep in a clean t-shirt for bed. Am I also gross, disgusting, uncouth, lazy etc?

I'd insist on nightwear for all children. Rarely is it warm enough for kids to just sleep in pants whilst camping, if they need a wee urgently I want them up and out not looking for clothes, same for any other urgent issue arising in the night.

Bit grim really.

Ugh. I'd see it as pure skanky. If they want to wear that, up to them but my opinion is that it's super tacky and rough.

Disclaimer: Others will think it's fine and argue profusely its no one's business, but that's my opinion and I can think what I like 😂

This I’m afraid. I saw a man walking down the road in pyjamas and sliders on a cold windy day last week. What’s behind this trend for never getting dressed properly?

PurpleLovecats · 12/03/2026 14:46

My first thought was no, it I actually have a pair of pjs that are basically black leggings and a navy long t shirt. I think I could wear those and nobody would realise they were pjs .

Sennelier1 · 12/03/2026 15:11

None of my business what other people wear but I prefer to dress before I go out. Comfy clothes for a long(ish) flight, I agree, but not my PJ's.

Obviously it's a trend : I live in a university town in Belgium and lots of the young female students walk the streets dressed in what I would call house-wear or PJ's - wide stretchy joggingpants and oversized baggy sweaters all in whites, greys or tans. Over that they often have long fluffy coats in Barbie pink or electric blue.

Honestly, the first time I thought they were out in their bathrobes.

Oh well, I do me, they do .... whatever, but I think in a few years they will recognize this trend as one of the more ridiculous ones 😂

Sidebeforeself · 12/03/2026 15:15

i have a thing about “ performative travelling” e.g changing into PJs, walking around with your inflatable pillow etc etc. Yes it’s a long journey.. we know we are on the same flight. Sit down, shut up and don’t faff about when it’s time to get off!

Bulbsbulbsbulbs · 12/03/2026 15:18

I saw a woman getting on a plane to Greece wearing a onesie and slippers once! I did think it wasnt quite the thing to do. I've also seen people walking down the street in pyjamas and dressing gown. Let's just say you're unlikely to see your GP or solicitor or teacher doing this type of thing

In long haul I guess if people want to wear pyjamas to sleep it's better they put them in at the airport rather than hog the toilet for ages getting changed.

Wexone · 12/03/2026 15:23

I just wouldn't I detest the trend of constantly wearing pyjamas dressing gowns outside of the house. I also don't get it wearing all time in the house either but each to their own. My nightwear consists of missing matched old boxers and t shirts. as soon as up am dressed
I must be a freak going by these posts though as I travel in jeans- I actually live in them nearly. I don't understand how people think they are uncomfortable but that's just me.

EstherGreenwood63 · 12/03/2026 15:30

Grim and totally performative. Yuk.

Ohwhatfuckeryitistoride · 12/03/2026 15:33

Personally no, I'm not five.

JugglingMyNuts · 12/03/2026 15:52

I wonder if those saying no never would you put them on in first or business when handed out?

No I wouldnt. PJs are Pjs no where they come from

Miyagi99 · 12/03/2026 16:02

Wouldn’t bother me, I don’t see the difference between wearing PJs loungewear/joggers and a hoody. I’ve taken my slippers for longer flights. Obviously they’d be clean on. Not sure why the shop is relevant!

Yes, I've worn them. But I took them off when I woke up, I didn't go parading through the airport in them. They were just navy blue jogging bottoms and a t shirt though, they didn't have teddies on them!
