Flew out to our Villa two weeks ago.. had to nip back home for an appointment on Sunday... flew back Tuesday. Flight was 3 pm. Two women mid to late 40s travelling in pjs . One set from Tu..l know because l have the same .. other womens was shein or temu.. it didn't look like they were running late or anything.. both had full face of makeup and hair styled lovely... no slippers but one in trainers.. other in sliders.. my companion told me they had seen women before flying in pjs. What are your opinions?

I'm so glad you told us where they bought them from.

Not sure how we would've coped without that important information.

OSTMusTisNT · 12/03/2026 12:17

Private Jet, yes. Commercial plane, no.

FlowerFairyDaisy · 12/03/2026 12:20

Loungewear, maybe. Jogging bottoms, yes. PJ's no.

I think I just wouldn't want the faff of getting dressed on the plane or shortly after landing.

notimagain · 12/03/2026 12:26

Changing into PJs or something similar after take-off and out again prior to arrival is one thing...

Wearing the damn things before take-off and leaving on until post arrival could well leave you utterly rubber ducked (in the unlikely event etc) if you get chucked down the slides because something has gone really wrong on departure/arrival...and as I think someone mentioned, it's similar with footware.

I'm not suggesting everyone should wear survival suits but it might be worth at least wearing outdoor'ish clothes for some of the flight....

wishingonastar101 · 12/03/2026 12:38

I wear comfy clothes - baggy trouser, vest, hoodie and trainers or sliders. But no - I wouldn't wear PJS. I have changed into PJs on a long haul over night.... but more as something to do!
it's like the daft bints walking around in hair curlers. idiots.

mushypetits · 12/03/2026 12:41

Some people just don't have any pride in themselves OP. Don't care if it's TK max or Givenchy ( I don't understand why you put that piece of information in)

DancingLions · 12/03/2026 12:47

If I'm flying for 8hrs plus I tend to go in business now due to pain issues. I always change into PJ's to sleep. I can't stand the feeling of sleeping in normal clothes, however comfy. And the thing is your journey isn't over when you land, you still need to get out of the airport, travel on to your hotel or whatever (depending on the time of day you might need to wait to check in) and I don't want to be doing that in clothes I've slept in. I really don't care what other people think!

That said, for what was presumably a shortish flight at 3pm in the afternoon? No, I would be dressed for that.

MmMmMmMm3 · 12/03/2026 12:49

Only the ones provided by the airline in business / first on a long haul flight. I certainly wouldn’t be wearing pjs on a flight from Leeds to Spain for example

elizabethdraper · 12/03/2026 09:32

Who cares ?? They werent harming anyone

That’s your measure of acceptable standards, whether or not someone was harmed?

Christ.

PropertyD · 12/03/2026 12:57

I honestly think its a general dresing down in society. I wouldnt wear pj's but I have seen the ocassional person wearing them at the supermarket. Very silly they looked too.

People now dont seem to give a stuff. I got into a kerfuffle a few months ago when someone was saying it didnt matter what people wore to a funeral of a close relative as long as they turned up. The young lad was wearing a hoodie, low slung trackies and trainers.

dizzydizzydizzy · 12/03/2026 12:59

nooooo! Joggers or leggings absolutely fine. I cannot understand why adults are happy to be out and about in public wearing PJs. It’s really crossing a boundary. I get that my thinking is more about perception than logic but I would struggle to take anyone seriously if they were wearing PJs in public.

I usually wear a pair of smartish lightweight joggers, a linen-mix t-shirt and a thin long sleeved top. I’m comfortable but still look respectful. Also, I know some airlines give out PJs for overnight flights, presumably for Business and First, but I recently had a free upgrade to Business for an overnight flight on BA and imagine if they had seen my wearing PJs at the airport, they would have changed their mind.

Bonkers1966 · 12/03/2026 13:01

It would make me giggle if I saw that. I would also be grateful if they were sober and causing zero trouble.

Dellmouse · 12/03/2026 13:11

Absolute no from me. I’ve seen people wearing them in my local KFC recently in the evening (getting a take away).
Im probably old fashioned but I just think it’s slobby. Lounge wear is such a thing now, you can easily be comfortable without resorting to pyjamas. As I tell my two year old daily “no, these are your night time clothes”.

Lemonfrost · 12/03/2026 13:15

MaidOfSteel · 12/03/2026 10:00

God no! It’s lazy & slovenly. Not even bothering to get dressed shows they’ve no respect for themselves and others.

Edited

100% agree. There is just no need, is there?

ACynicalDad · 12/03/2026 13:18

Not adults, no, maybe kids on a night flight. But unless it was very late, I’d change them on the plane I think.

ThatFlakyGuide · 12/03/2026 13:18

Don’t care either way what they are wearing as long as they are clean and tidy!

Typical out of touch post though -flew home from out villa for an appointment and then flew back!! 🙄😂

hypnovic · 12/03/2026 13:23

I always fly in comfy lounge wear doubt they were the Pj's they slept in ..mostly though I mind my own business

Happyholidays78 · 12/03/2026 13:27

I've never seen anyone wear PJs on a flight & would never do it myself. I'm usually in leggings & a comfy top. I was at my local airport recently very early & was people watching & I noticed a lot of younger (18-25 ish) ladies looking very dressed up & a few with big curlers in their hair!

dizzydizzydizzy · 12/03/2026 13:31

Noooo! I cannot understand why adults wear PJs out in public. It is crossing a boundary. I know logically-speaking, it shouldn’t matter but my perception is that it is disrespectful. I really could not take any adult seriously if they were on a flight in PJs.

I probably have the biggest PJ collection in England and wear them at every opportunity, but only at home.

Joggers or leggings are fine.

Also, BA recently gave me a free upgrade to Business on a long haul overnight flight. It is their computer that selects people but I imagine that if I had been wearing PJs in the airport that tbey would have changed their mind.

TheNinkyNonkyIsATardis · 12/03/2026 13:32

I've done it once getting a late coach back from a hen do in London (10.30pm). My husband said it was out of character, but I was adamant that I was changing at the coach station.

Turned out in the end that I was very fractionally pregnant, so maybe it was an incredibly premature nesting instinct.

pouletvous · 12/03/2026 13:33

fine for sitting on a plane but factor in the travel to airport, checking in, security, bag drop and then the other end immigration, taxi or transport to end destination

odd

Berlinlover · 12/03/2026 13:35

Nobody with an ounce of self respect would wear nightwear on a plane.

SooticaTheWitchesCat · 12/03/2026 13:38

Absolutely not. I always wear something nice to travel in. I would never wear PJs outside the house anyway

Ducksbehindthesofa · 12/03/2026 13:39

Plain(ish) lounge wear tops and bottoms, maybe and why not. Flannelette, brushed cotton, button-up PJs with fluffy sheep, prancing unicorns or fairies waving magic wands all over them, then nope.

Uvorange · 12/03/2026 13:41

Can’t see why anyone would care, or why the place they bought their PJs from was relevant
