Flew out to our Villa two weeks ago.. had to nip back home for an appointment on Sunday... flew back Tuesday. Flight was 3 pm. Two women mid to late 40s travelling in pjs . One set from Tu..l know because l have the same .. other womens was shein or temu.. it didn't look like they were running late or anything.. both had full face of makeup and hair styled lovely... no slippers but one in trainers.. other in sliders.. my companion told me they had seen women before flying in pjs. What are your opinions?

Funnily enough, I noticed a few people wearing PJs on a daytime flight recently actually. Definitely a new trend I think. I like to be comfy but full PJs are a step too far for me!

it is different. Just stick some leggings on, they are outdoor clothes.

Why is it different?

one of these are sold as pyjamas, one of these as casual wear...

one of them according to you is completely unacceptable, the other is fine...
which one is which, and please tell me what the real difference is between them...?

So much so that one of these outfits would be "grim" and one would be acptable to wer outside of the house.

''One set from Tu..l know because l have the same .. other womens was shein or temu..''

What on earth does the brand have to do with anything???
Would you not have complained if they had been designer?

Admiring the stealth post “our villa”. Subtle but effective.

God no! It’s lazy & slovenly. Not even bothering to get dressed shows they’ve no respect for themselves and others.

Edited

they are dressed. How are loose joggers and a t-shirt that are sold as pyjamas and different to loose joggers and t-shirt sold as lounge wear?

ByQuaintAzureWasp · 12/03/2026 10:07

They give you PJs in Emirates business class

JugglingMyNuts · 12/03/2026 10:10

Yes as they are given out in business class so I always change in the toilet and back again just before I land. But even when travelling economy I try and wear comfy stretchy clothes.

Hoppinggreen · 12/03/2026 10:11

I was on a flight to Munich couple of years ago and there were a couple of Russian women in front of us
They had on PJ style clothes, hair in (soft) curlers, flip flops etc
On arrival they vanished into the loos and came out looking incredibly glam, heels, full make up the lot
I try to look clean and tidy to fly but can't be bothered with make up or anything like that

TheTortiePuffinNeedsHerBreakfast · 12/03/2026 10:12

I tend to travel in lounge wear for long haul because it's a bit more sturdy than pj's. But it doesn't look much different I suppose. Would never wear it on a short flight though, there doesn't seem much point.

AbzMoz · 12/03/2026 10:14

Not actual PJs but often a soft t shirt / harem-type pants which perhaps wouldn’t be too far off some styles of PJs for longer haul. And a pair of flipflops for the cabin. Often with a smarter outfit or at least jumper to get changed into on arrival.

PixellatedPixie · 12/03/2026 10:16

BA don’t give out pjs in business anymore sadly 😔 We used to get a stupid amount of miles due to DHs job involving long-haul flights monthly but now flights have gone up so much since Covid that I don’t ever get to fly business even if using huge amounts of miles.

My post above is me crying in first world problems…

CurlewKate · 12/03/2026 10:17

Extraordinary level of snobbery here! It’s obviously the Tu or Shein that’s the issue, not the pyjamas. 😂

One thing I always wonder on threads like this-how do people KNOW that they are pyjamas, not leggings and a T shirt?
And why is it “grim”?

Both outfits look really grim honestly.

Zov · 12/03/2026 10:21

LOL that's so funny. Of course I wouldn't. I can't imagine most airlines allowing people on the plane in their PJs to be honest!

Exactly! Probably the same type of people who play thumping loud dance music at full volume, have a massive trampoline for the kids in the front garden, allow their dogs to bark constantly, and sit on a plastic set of garden chairs in the front garden sucking on a vape! 😂

I doubt if this is the style that the op means. I wouldn't think they were pajamas even if they are. I'm imagining traditional style shirt and bottoms with a cutsie pattern or text like "sleepy time" all over. I wouldn't wear pajamas but don't really care if others do.

it's irrelevant as to whether you like them or not. I'm asking what the difference is as one of them are apparently pyjamas and therefore unacceptable, and one of them isn't therefore acceptable.

RandomUsernameHere · 12/03/2026 10:27

I wouldn’t, but it wouldn’t bother me if others did. Pyjamas are not really that different to some other casual clothes.

the point reminas.

IF I'm wearinga cotton t-shirt with "sleepy time" on or a cotton t-shirt with "Life's a beach" on it... what's the actual difference?

If I'm wearing blue leggings with sleeping teddies on them or I wear blue leggings with a nike tick on them ... what's the actual difference?

CanISeeYourLicence · 12/03/2026 10:28

I have seen it before (I travel long haul annually).

No, I would not do it. But I'm 53 and quite grumpy and recall the days when people would dress up for plane travel.

I need to be comfy for a 24 hour flight though so i tend to wear soft jersey harem pants in navy blue, a navy blue long sleeved tshirt and navy blue sweater and i have a patterned blue pashmina. So just as comfortable as pyjamas, IMO. I stick to the same colour palette and dark! as it covers hopefully all eventualities. Last year the woman next to me was in tight white jeans from Heathrow to Sydney and I thought the poor thing must be so uncomfortable.

MmeWorthington · 12/03/2026 10:29

TU 😱
In front of people with their own villa 😱
Sliders 😱

Quelle Wind up.

( but No, I wouldn’t wear pyjamas on a plane (or out of the house)

Mumofoneandone · 12/03/2026 10:45

Absolutely no way!! Am disabled and getting dressed is hard work but never leave the house unless properly dressed. Rarely fly, but when I do I manage to be comfortable (loose dress etc) and presentable!
Can not get my head round this sort of attitude!

cupfinalchaos · 12/03/2026 10:54

Not in the afternoon! I’d wear pj’s for transatlantic they give them anyway.
