That's according to BBC news. Can't say I'm sorry.

The families of his victims finally got justice.

I am not “celebrating”. But I believe he should have got the death penalty along with his girlfriend.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 07/03/2026 10:19

Well Huntley tried to commit suicide but apparently he was walking around in a Man U football shirt trying to create drama. Madness.

Carr gets some sympathy though (not from me) as apparently Huntley was vile towards her.

Perhaps it has nothing to do with the prison system being overstretched and underfunded but more to do with staff turning a blind eye with people like Huntley and letting justice take its course.

No. Just no

prison staff do not turn a blind eye. Don’t start that kind of rumour.

Oh dear. Never mind. One less monster for tax payers to have to fund.

Unless of course his family make a claim to the prison service for compensation which will then cost the tax payer an awful lot of money - not to mention the cost of the inquest.

I find the idea of a prison system so overstretched and underfunded that one prisoner can kill another completely shocking.

I see it as some sort of almost fitting punishment. Living in daily fear that you may get done over.

He was attacked by another man who committed horrifying crimes. Killed a pregnant woman, amongst others. He wasn't some kind of hero doling out justice for victims.

Yes, Im aware of the background of the man who killed Huntley. I hope the same happens to him too.

There was an interesting interview online with a female governess of a prison.

We have a legal justice system to prevent this sort of ‘vigilante’ action.

It’s remarkable that people think vigilante’s killing people is a better thing than a legal system, even more remarkable that they applaud public servants usurping the legal justice system to allow this.

There was a man recently freed after a long time in prison his wrongful conviction for rape was overturned. Presumably you’d have applauded him getting a vigilante ‘death sentence’ when he was in prison too?

That's true. It's not like that type of person feels remorse over what they did to their victim, so being afraid for themselves is probably the only psychological punishment they'll get.

But everyone in prison has done stuff wrong. That's why they are there. It's not like he was the one bad apple..The guy who killed him had killed three other people. There's plenty more evil from where Huntley came from. So we should just allow them to kill each other?

Catspace · 07/03/2026 10:24

iceteababy · 07/03/2026 10:14

I 100% agree with this.

We should not have a system in which prisoners are able to harm each other, let alone murder each other.

It is not a cause for celebration that we do.

What horrified me was the fact that the other bloke could have got hold of a metal pole in order to do this. Scum on scum

HappyHarridan · 07/03/2026 10:24

Violent, disturbed men in prison together…these things happen and will happen again.

My thoughts are with the families of Holly and Jessica.

The absence of the rule of law does not work out well. Particularly for the most vulnerable.

This is not an example of justice. It is retribution which is different and should not have happened.

Wolmando · 07/03/2026 10:27

Hopefully posters on here agree with the death penalty, murderers shouldn't be murdering each other in prison

ThatCyanCat · 07/03/2026 10:28

Evil piece of shit killed by an evil piece of shit.

CapacityBrown · 07/03/2026 10:29

Good. More money saved. It would've cost £300,000 a year to have him in a secure hospital.

iceteababy · 07/03/2026 10:29

To the people applauding Huntley’s murder. We have a legal system to restrain the violent instincts of people like you. People murdering other people in revenge attacks, and being celebrated for doing so, does not make a safe or just society.

Even if we did have the DP, under what grounds exactly would Maxine Carr have been eligible? You can’t seriously think she should have been worthy of the same penalty as Huntley?

If you don't want to be murdered in prison, perhaps don't go around murdering young girls?

I agree with the fact that prison murder doesn't make for a safe or just society - but neither does the current legal system, to be fair.
