That's according to BBC news. Can't say I'm sorry.

This is the most ridiculous post yet.

These types of threads bring out the worst in many.

Are you really unable to see the bigger picture here?

The bigger picture that you're upset that a child killer is dead?

IThinkPink · 07/03/2026 11:04

climbintheback · 07/03/2026 10:41

Maybe prisoners who commit violence in prison should be in solitary for the rest of their stay - might put them off the idea especially lifers who have nothing to lose.

Some actually like to be segregated like that. Seg is no deterrent at all

Ooodelally · 07/03/2026 11:04

If we strung up child molesters and killers like they deserve we could avoid this problem (and the associated costs) altogether. Bring back the noose for perverts and monsters.

iceteababy · 07/03/2026 10:14

I 100% agree with this.

We should not have a system in which prisoners are able to harm each other, let alone murder each other.

It is not a cause for celebration that we do.

Please do not criticise the prison service who do a fantastic yet extremely challenging job.

He has been protected, obviously extremely well to survive for over 20 years despite being a major target. He would have needed as much protection as POTUS to avoid an attack -however prison protection for child killers and rapists has to be proportional but you can never account for every eventuality.

No I don't think they are. I've read this thread with my jaw half open.

It's frightening, isn't it?

IngridBurger · 07/03/2026 11:06

Those of you who are pleased about this - if you had a loved one working in a prison would that change your view? I find it terribly worrying personally.

NoWordForFluffy · 07/03/2026 11:06

Dollymylove · 07/03/2026 10:42

If that changed tomorrow they will still find a a way to get at someone.

Apparently W. Couzens is shit scared that he will be next.
I bloody well hope so!!

Well, you might say that if you don't want to end up in prison, fearful for your life every waking minute, you shouldn't commit the heinous crime which got you imprisoned to start with! Cause and effect.

Mumsgirls · 07/03/2026 11:07

I am old enough to remember many people who have been wrongly convicted of murder. All demonised in the press as Evil Killers. For that reason alone I don’t support the death penalty. Huntley was suffering in prison rightly, but that should not include execution by an inmate. He would have suffered more spending the rest of his life in prison. Had done 23 years and could have done another 23. No sympathy for Huntley , but who made his killer judge and execution.
Our society is demeaned by such actions.
Even more worryingly in the same prison guards have been seriously injured,
No one can condone that happening surely?

Don't start fabricating things because I am challenging your opinions.

DairyMilkFreeZone · 07/03/2026 11:08

I would support assisted suicide though I think

That's easy to say but people end up in prison for many reasons. Some of them are even innocent of the crimes they have been convicted of. Regardless of that, our justice system shouldn't and isn't based on 'an eye for an eye'. We have a responsibility to keep prisoners safe whilst they are in the care of the state, whatever crime they committed.

You believe Maxine Carr should have got the death penalty? My god.

Yes that was my thought too. Their crimes are not even remotely comparable

Well, I care, for starters. A lot of us do, as is evident on this thread. Don't be disheartened.

Personally, I find it very worrying that a rapist and murderer was able to get hold of a metal pole, but I'm quite glad that - considering he did - he decided to attack another murderer instead of a prison employee, and on balance, I'm pleased that Huntley's dead. All's well that ends well, in this specific incident.

Toddlerteaplease · 07/03/2026 11:13

CurlewKate · 07/03/2026 10:08

I find the idea of a prison system so overstretched and underfunded that one prisoner can kill another completely shocking.

Thing is, they have nothing to loose, if already on a full live tariff. That makes it difficult to prevent.

WildMintPanda · 07/03/2026 11:13

DeftWasp · 07/03/2026 11:02

Indeed, so why are the police and CPS looking at preparing a file (which apparently they are) even if you convicted him it makes no difference - absolutely no public money should be spent on this.

We shouldn't bother to prosecute for murder if the person is already a murderer?

Justgorgeous · 07/03/2026 11:13

It absolutely is wrong that anyone is murdered in prison, however, my thoughts are with Holly and Jessica.

Jane143 · 07/03/2026 11:13

iceteababy · 07/03/2026 10:17

Seriously? So let’s say you go to prison, maybe wrongly convicted. You would be okay with having the crap licked out of you, as it happens in real life?
Presumably you are also okay with having the crap kicked out of you in real life, as it happens in real life?

This is different. Not talking about car thieves, burglars etc. this man was a child killer and deserves what he got

Misspacorabanne · 07/03/2026 11:14

Amazing! We were definitely over due some good news! So much doom and gloom lately! I’m thinking of the families of the two young girls!

Maxine was in a coercive and controlling relationship with him. Of course she didn't deserve the death penalty.

@Muffinmamis too frightened to come back and explain why they think MC deserved the death penalty

I'm specifically talking about Wayne Couzens being scared.

I have no sympathy if he's worried for his safety. And I would imagine that it's nigh on impossible, even with the best intentions, to make a high security prison, full of the worst offenders going, a totally safe environment. All the risk assessments and mitigation going isn't going to be able to stop incidents of violence taking place. That's too high a burden on staff.
