Posted for the title.

Following the net-zero news upthread, I wonder what the spectacle of Farage being forced to court popular opinion and dump Trump (the assonance itself suggests it's Gods will) would look like through the prism of interpretive dance UK mainstream media

PandoraSocks · 20/03/2026 10:57

Whately is always awful. I know someone who worked for her at HMT and apparently she is very intelligent and was good at her job, so why she is so consistently awful when wheeled out is strange.

Daniel Kruger of Reform asks the Church of England to say the Muslim Adhan in Trafalgar Square is "incompatible with our constitution"

"There is an issue itself with Islam as a religion". "It is the scale of Islam in Britain + ambition of its leaders for greater scale that makes the problem."

How the fuck is it incompatible with our ‘constitution’?

do we not have freedom of religion anymore? Where does this leave other faiths? You can practice your religion but we shouldn’t see you do it?

I see some on the right straining to equate this to the buffer zones around abortion clinics. Hence the request for the CoE to speak out against the prayer service.

Edited

On the other hand I think Badenoch is good at presentation, (don't at me), but if I may be blunt, she's not the sharpest tool in the shed.

Badenoch and Farage stand alongside people like this

https://bsky.app/profile/nadiawhittomemp.bsky.social/post/3mhikwuiqnk2i
Within just 48 hours of the Tories refusing to sack Nick Timothy for his Islamophobic comments, the far-right is circulating a list of MPs “of foreign descent” trying to “silence” him. [1/2]

That is really worrying.

The Badenoch loyalists are strangely silent on all of this. Either they share the bigoted views of Badenoch or they can't bring themselves to criticise her.

Of course Badenoch should speak up against this rhetoric but she’ll avoid doing it rather than offend the far right. But my goodness the Conservative Party have fallen a long way.

This is how far we have fallen - you have taken a once great party and reduced it to this 👇🏽
Enjoying endorsements and plaudits from convicted fraudsters and far right fascists
Shame on those of you that have dragged the
@Conservatives
Party into the gutter.
You have damaged decades of work that so many of us put in to make our party a decent inclusive space and you’ve committed electoral suicide in the process.

Sayeeda Warsi

I wonder how she feels, having plugged the Tories for years despite being warned repeatedly they are not the friends of the Empire.

Warsi is much missed by everyone. She spoke up bravely about the awful Islamaphobia within the Tory party.

Well that was a wasted career.

I did like her - she came across as a bog standard conservative. I guess if she were starting out again, she'd probably swerve to the LibDems.

I've long believed that Reform & the Tories are one in the same thing.

I'd not vote Tory to prevent a Reform win, its pointless.

They are now. However there used to be a small-c conservatism which was basically the same vaguely right of centre that equated to the vague left of centre that was 1960s Labour.

If you don't believe me (or can't remember) "Yes (Prime) Minister" was able to run and run and remain credible despite the party of government never being stated.

Couldn't do that in 2026.

Yes Minister was hilarious, little did i know at the time it was actually a documentary.

The Jewish News published an editorial in defence as well

"It is counterproductive to combat extremism by telling many Muslims they – alone – should not celebrate their faith in public"

"Uphold religious rights for all - you'll be glad you did"
