You can pass a law eliminating redundancy payments.

You can but you can’t make it retrospective. If those people’s contracts specify a redundancy payment, a redundancy payment they will get.

Good morning and another fuck off Trump day.

He is such a bully. I hope the government continues to stand firm.

Rock and a Hard Place... Don't support Trump and he can and probably will, stop supplying weapons and or increase prices for Ukraine & we need that oil supply more than he does, could even slap on more tariffs, pull out of NATO etc

Support him and yet again, he bullies Europe... he really is a first class XXXX

He caused this disaster, which shows zero signs of ending.

Sending frigates to the region is hardly an easy fix, will require dozens of them and even that may not satisfy the insurance industry, so still no ship movements plus its many weeks away.

Trump has been throwing out that NATO is in doubt if his ‘allies’ don’t support him on control in the SoH.

I really, really, really hope that we don’t.

If we did and agreed to stuff then it would be all meaningless anyway, as he’s so untrustworthy.

Iran said they’d not offered talks, because it is pointless, as they were talking already when Trump attacked them anyway.

I have no time for the Iranian regime but that is (as Epstein’s Gang) true and to the point and I wish sometimes Trump’s ‘allies’ could be so blunt with him.

Wondering what was said on the Starmer/Trump call yesterday - I’d be very, very depressed if I were Starmer and waking every day to Trump’s new shite and then having to actually listen to him - he must be a very patient man!

BIossomtoes · 16/03/2026 09:11

I see pacifist is now out there as an insult. I absolutely bloody despair.

Surely only a mad, war-mongering frother would use that as an insult?

In any case, if Starmer is a pacifist, so are Badenoch, Farage (since their u-turns), Davey etc. as well as the majority of the British public.

DuncinToffee · 16/03/2026 09:23

Badenoch didn't u-turn, she merely re-arranged her words Wink

Agree. Is it an attempt to set up a straw man? "If you're against the Iran war you must be against all war. But that's incorrect because sometimes war is necessary". Sort of how anyone who isn't on board with the Rwanda plan/sinking dingies/remigration must therefore be "open boarders". Obviously pacifists and people who believe in open boarders exist. But the people opposed to involvement in Iran (or the far right) are a much much broader coalition than that.
Maybe the "it's all the pesky Muslims stopping Starmer from bombing Iran" argument isn't working.

Parliament is supreme and can do what it wants.

Retrospective laws may be against natural law and convention but they are not something the UK parliament cannot do.

I can remember when the Tories retrospectively changed the law to deny people unlawfully sent on workfare compensation.

I am expecting a lot of TS posts from Trump having a go at Starmer/UK again

If anyone knows of a respectable petition that suggests Starmer ignores Trump - with direct reference to why, then I'm game.

BIossomtoes · 16/03/2026 14:17

I missed the farrago about Spencer’s clothes. Just checked it out - sad, sad little people.

BIWI · 16/03/2026 14:41

The thread on here about it was awful.

PandoraSocks · 16/03/2026 14:47

The general reaction from the right wing about Hannah Spencer and the Greens generally is a sight to behold. There is a fair bit of paranoia.

PickAChew · 16/03/2026 15:50

Something about selling the country out to trans Muslims or some such nonsense. And she dares not to have the regulation brown bob, which is just so disrespectful.

BIossomtoes · 16/03/2026 16:14

I’ve just found and read the thread here. I really wonder what some of these women look like. “Business attire”, “Appropriate”, “Professional” - whatever the last two mean. Presumably it means drab clothes that make the wearer fade into the background. God forbid that a woman should express her personality and individualism through her clothes. So bloody depressing.

It is. And on a more serious note, the British obsession with class and appearance is really holding this country back.

Piggywaspushed · 16/03/2026 17:04

I don't think this is especially British - remember Trump's comment on how Zelensky dressed. I think it is more symptomatic of a corporate obsessed society . going right back to Mrs T and her twinset and pearls. Certainly Michael Foot's donkey jacket was about class.

I like Hannah S's look, personally.

Actually you have a point - it's wider than I said. It's still pathetic though - people should be judged on what they do, not what they wear.

There is however a strong element of sexism about it - Theresa May got hit with it, now Hannah Spencer, and they also went after Angela Rayner over her green suit. Woman, know your place!
