US strikes Iran

In conjunction with Israel.
Why? Starting wars has never ever ended well for the US, or for the country they are trying to 'help.'

I’ve just seen the news reports that Iran have targeted Dubai and Abu Dhabi with missile strikes. A big tourist hotel has been struck.

I think it was from falling debris.

because democracy is so perfect and better,

It is better. At least it gives some power to the population of the country to choose the direction of their lives.
Plus the separation of Justice and Power and Religion and Power, it makes it more likely to make those in power accountable to the laws (like Trump and his tariffs been deamed unlawful- he is still going on the tariffs!). And less likely to choose dates of an attacked based on dates in a religious book- like said above on this thread.

Not perfect. There are plenty of problems in many democracies. But better.

I suppose they will go for a republic, without supreme leader and revolutionary guards, and less religion focused. We shall see.

Not perfect, but certainly better than an oppressive regime surely?

Olympeagal · 28/02/2026 15:51

@EvangelicalAboutButteredToast This doesnt surprise me. This is how i think the UK will get dragged into this conflict.

EasternStandard I've discussed this on other threads where poster's lazily parroted the propaganda of 10's of thousands of death of "protestors" despite there being no proof of this.

Many of those "protestors" collaborated with Foreign entities and killed many innocent Iranian civilians (including Children).

When Mossad and Ex CIA directors are saying "we're with you" there is nothing organic about these protests.

The Iranian's I know in Iran are very different, not all support the regime but one thing they do value is autonomy and the freedom to chose their own paths, they remember the 1953 coup. They also have the honour and integrity not to stand next to or support the countries that killed over 20'000 children in Gaza let alone normalise with them. I won't tell you what they say about diaspora Iranians begging for Iran to be bombed as it is not very nice.

This is quite a surprising post once you decode it-

Paragraph 1- cast doubt on the claims that the regime has been murdering its own.

Paragraph 2- accuse the people protesting in Iran of murdering children.

Paragraph 3- plant a seed that its all Mossad's doing anyway.

Paragraph 4- refers to people in Iran some of whom support the regime some who don't, then mentions the 1953 coup critically but doesnt mention the much more significant 1979 coup. Then mentions that their friends in Iran would stand in support with Palestinians rather than with Israel, and that they'd definitely not wish to normalize relations with Israel- so they don't want peace? These friends sound... familiar...

You're quite something Belle.

In a nutshell. This will not end well.

Whenever the West interferes in the Middle East it never ends well. This will be no different.

Why did Israel/US strike a school in Iran? There's footage of it on the news. I can't understand the reasoning behind that.

Also, the US and Israel want regime change by bombing Iran. I can't see how that will realistically achieve that.

Let’s all pray this isn’t true

But a simple search of the school complex looks like the same building in the images and videos and so has indeed been hit by missiles

It stands amongst residential buildings to the west. Not much at all to the East

No reason at all given as to why it was bombed
The US and Israel have not commented

The girls school note 51 killed and 60 injured ( numbers not verified by third party but then how could they be at this stage)

The Medical centre they were all being sent to has also been hit Aparently but I haven’t spotted images / location of that in the news.
Will wait and see for updates before judging

Me too - it seemed to have caused a fire but I don't know how wide spread.

The uk will be next i hope not, but its like a build up to something coming.

You think the UK will be bombed by the US or Israel or Iran??

AtomicBlondeRose · 28/02/2026 16:06

Iran have been bombing Qatar all day - not sure why it’s hardly mentioned in the news. Limited damage as they are all being intercepted but everyone is on a stay indoors notice, schools moving online tomorrow (Sunday is a school day there) and of course the noise and strain of constant warnings and sirens. Last time it was all over in half an hour but this time it looks as though they won’t stop. They’ve also targeted Dubai, Bahrain and Kuwait but keep on at Qatar with wave after wave of attacks.

piscofrisco · 28/02/2026 16:06

Dh stayed in that hotel last year for work. You could not pay me enough to go anywhere near that region for any purpose.

I dont know i cant answer that.
But it feels like a build up, to something.
The world's gone mad.

Some Qataris have been recording the shock waves/aftermath and posting on social media. You are right though, very limited coverage on MSM.

In a nutshell. This will not end well.

I suppose the question is whether the theocracy really has the support of a substantial part of the population.
Quite a few people in Iran seem desperate to get rid of the current regime.

It’s all over the BBC in fact

AtomicBlondeRose · 28/02/2026 16:13

The general gist of the attacks on the ME are on the BBC but I don’t think it at all gets across the relentless nature of what’s been happening in Qatar. I can’t speak for the other countries but I’m getting first person accounts from people who live there and it’s been literally all day. If I went by the BBC I’d think it was just a few missiles that had been sent over. I follow Al Jazeera mostly for this stuff.

Yes, that post was rather wild

If Iran is bombing Qatar, hopefully they'll take out a few Hamas leaders.

If it happened, and it may have done, then I wouldn’t be surprised if the regime are the ones responsible. Bombing their own citizens to generate negative publicity for Israel and U.S is something they’re more than capable of.

The strikes from the U.S and Israel are strategic. The targets are specific governmental and military targets, not random schools.
