I made an apple and blackberry crumble earlier.
Very tasty.
I must split my snowdrop bulbs this year...I always forget

I've just finished DD's latest hair dye art - it's a birthday present for me, she has let me paint bath duckies on a blue background on her head. And it has turned out amazingly well.

Also I have decided I am going to get a tattoo this year.

Go for it! What are you getting? I have 3. I only have pics of these 2. One is a Camino memento, the other is more about my life in general. The 3rd is a triskele with deBeauvoir’s ‘One is not born a woman, one becomes one’ around it (give me a break, I am an English teacher)

We need a picture!

I'll ask if she's willing to provide.

The tattoo will be a triskele and within each arm there will be a depiction of an animal representing one of my three kids: A dragon, a wren and a shark. We have just identified two artists in the studio DD uses who work in the style that I like (delicate, greyscale, organic) so I reckon a consult will happen quite shortly.

pointythings · 22/02/2026 18:40

@cardibach snap on the triskele!

I made an apple crumble!!!

Got DS out today to the beach and arcade. He can’t drive ATM but I’m not 100% sure what’s going to happen because he still hasn’t got his license that expired last August through and has had 3 medical all of which the dvla have lost!

Not sure how they can decide whether to suspend a license they don’t seem to be able to produce 🤣🤣

But I got him to text his 2 best mates to meet us and I brought them all bacon rolls and a drink at the very popular and amazing beach front cafe. I’ve know one for 10 years and the others mum Died just before Xmas and his dad has just had surgery for bowel cancer and is on chemo. He’s only 21 and so I’m very protective of him.

I also chucked them cash to play air hockey etc in the arcade and it’s been lovely to hear ds laugh again after the past few days.

BestIsWest · 22/02/2026 18:57

Glad to hear the horse is recovering @countrygirl99.

Busy day here. I’ve finished knitting a jumper from left over wool (it’s very, very bright but DD and DS like it and can fight over it), been to Tesco, visited my DM and sung Welsh songs with her, pruned my rose bushes, cooked dinner and have dug out the needlepoint I started two years ago.

PandoraSocks · 22/02/2026 16:45

If he isn't paying for it, won't he need to declare that?

Edited

Several months later no doubt.

dontcallmelen · 22/02/2026 19:36

Glad your horse is improving Countrygirl must be a big relief.
itsgettingweird great news Ds has been out & enjoyed a lovely day with friends .
you’ve all put me to shame with the busyness of the day, I didn’t get up until very late I took some extremely strong painkillers last night as a bit desperate to get more than an hour or twos sleep been in a lot of pain with my shoulders did me good.
dds hair art sounds awesome Pointy
As for Farage & his stupid stunts no doubt no will ask who paid/has he declared & the grifting fuckwit continues on with his obnoxious self publicity shame he wasn’t marooned out in the Indian Ocean the traitorous corrupt bastard.

We had a beautiful apple crumble after a lovely Sunday lunch cooked by one of our sons, I have managed to come down with shingles to add to the fun here, so my two came over and helped with some legal paperwork and cooked. DSS is here for a couple of days so have some help.

Oh, your poor thing! If you haven't already, get some antivirals ASAP x

Evenstar · 22/02/2026 19:52

@Raven08 thank you, I was straight on the phone to the GP surgery as soon as they came out. It’s the third time I have had it which is rare apparently, I have five horse sized pills a day for the next week ☹️ and I have it on both sides of my back this time.

cardibach · 22/02/2026 19:59

Sorry to hear this @Evenstar I had occular shingles a year or so ago. No fun whatsoever.

RafaistheKingofClay · 22/02/2026 19:59

Ouch. Hope it clears up soon.

countrygirl99 · 22/02/2026 20:01

Thanks @dontcallmelen he's 27 and has had a few close shaves with the grim reaper before. My yard owner reckons he identifies as a cat with 9 lives.

Evenstar · 22/02/2026 20:02

@cardibach hope you have made a full recovery, that’s really nasty. Main concern is DH being very vulnerable due to his illness and treatment taking all the precautions I can.

I have thanks, but I’m a bit paranoid about getting it again!
You should be ok re vulnerable DH as I understand it as long as there’s no contact with the rash. It’s a worry for you though.

County girl im glad your horse is improving

pointy hair sounds fab! I’ve also been pondering about getting a tattoo. A yellow daffodil in memory of my my mum.

even Star sorry to hear about the shingles. I had it once a few years ago and the burning pain is horrendous. Hope you feel better soon

As for Farage. There’s no words. Other than he seems to be playing straight from the Trump handbook of stunts rather than actual governance.

Sorry to hear about the shingles @Evenstar - quite coincidentally I have my second jab tomorrow. DH has had shingles twice, although thankfully fairly mildly. But it sounds awful.

PickAChew · 22/02/2026 21:31

That sounds really painful, @Evenstar

My sister had a shingles outbreak in her 50s and it was so painful for her. Take care and it's good you have a lovely family support.

dontcallmelen · 23/02/2026 08:39

@Evenstar you poor thing as if you haven’t got enough to worry about hope the meds work quickly & you feel much very soon💕

pointythings · 23/02/2026 09:15

And in this morning's news: DD has managed to secure a driving test at the first attempt in the location she wanted.
