Bring on Ange (as soon as she squared away her outstanding tax liability, of course…)

Good result for the greens. Great to see Matt Badloss' face . What a graceless loser.

Notonthestairs · 27/02/2026 07:28

Yep - graceless in defeat.
Reform modelling their responses on Trump again.

I’m good with anyone but Reform/Tories. Will be happy to see Plaid do well when the time comes.

That looks like an Alistair Heath generated headline.

I’m just relieved Reform were given a bloody nose. I see they’re as gracious in defeat as you’d expect. I suspect there might be a few dark nights of the soul in Downing Street now.

MsJinks · 27/02/2026 07:33

Thank very goodness - hardly dared check. Showing a lot lower right wing preferences than is suggested by media too, so I don’t think Regorm would have beaten labour in any case.
Tbh I wondered how long Goodwin would last if elected - either by getting in bother or defecting to a more ‘Re’ party, but pleased I don’t have to find out.

Yep. The far right of Mumsnet are already spinning the fraud line. Unhinged.

As for Starmer I agree with @Piggywaspushed . Take note!

DuncinToffee · 27/02/2026 07:56

I expected a Green win but not by this much. Glad to see the peiple of G&d saying no to this so called 'gift for Farage'

I think also Reform are bad at choosing candidates. Goodwin had said some bad things about Manchester in the past amongst other stuff. He doesn't represent the typical voter either (unlike, say, Lee Anderson) and there was nothing to relate to at all.

People may have Reform sympathies but turn out in their demographic is amongst the worst - this gives me cheer.

Did you not know already?!

Piggywaspushed · 27/02/2026 07:59

I saw someone on MN complaining that none of the Green MPs have children. The Leadsom thesis is alive and kicking.

Yes, re: turnout. Reform is supposed to appeal to those who feel voiceless politically. But they seem to stay at home.

Are they by any chance wanting to talk to Hannah Spencer about ‘biological reality’ and the need to get sprogged up?

Piggywaspushed · 27/02/2026 08:13

That wasn't directly said. I think given the poster's history it was the latter. Lots of mention of the former, too.

I don't think they have a choice or want too, the sort of people who wish to become Reform candidates, are not nice people.

Why the hate on Labour? they finished just behind 3rd on around 10k, the Tories got just 706, yet there is nothing....

The embarrassment for Starmer is nothing compared to if Burnham had stood but lost.

Piggywaspushed · 27/02/2026 08:25

I don't know how they can keep pushing the sectarian line when the candidate was a white woman and the leader is Jewish.

I am sure they are very disappointed the Greens didn't field a Muslim.

In fact, they probably ultimately expect this to be Greens Achilles' heel at some point : they are a very white party, as are the Lib Dems.

Cultural groups are allowed to align with parties!

That's hilarious 😂

I was right about the Tories losing the deposit.

We'll never know so all they have is 'Burnham would have won'. It's really demeaning to the Green candidate.

LlttledrummergirI · 27/02/2026 08:30

I am very happy and feel vindicated in my faith in decent, honest people standing up against the divisive politics of the right.

Reform and the other right leaning parties were rejected by the majority and that makes my heart sing. Contrary to the very loud noise, coming from the right, Britain is not a facist country.

LlttledrummergirI · 27/02/2026 08:36

I meant to add that screaming about voter fraud is straight out of the Trump/ MAGA facist playbook and only to be expected.

I'm looking forward to learning more about those who raised concerns after the event rather than while it was happening, and the vetting and training that these volunteers received as well as what was actually recorded.

It's not that I don't trust unproven allegations and prefer an evidence based tangible fact.

PandoraSocks · 27/02/2026 08:39

There are some very unhappy posters on MN today. They really thought Goodwin had it in the bag.

I bet there are some tantrums in Reform HQ as well.
