@FurForksSake but you NEED clothes so you are properly fitted out for work! And at that discount it is futile to resist!

CoffeeBeansGalore · 02/03/2026 18:24

Evening all. Thank you for the messages. It went fine. Cannula in 2nd time. The vein moved as it went iin. But the nurse was very gentle. Can't bear it in the hand, just too painful for me.

Ooh wincing for you! Bet glad it was OK in the end.

MewithME · 02/03/2026 22:37

Awww @FurForksSake you deserve some nice new things.

I'm getting the urge to get rid of a load of clothes and get some new stuff. Loads of my stuff is ancient. I have to admit I'll never fit half of them again!

Morning all!

Looks like a sunny day again. I slept better last night so hopefully my busy few days didn't do too much damage. I have got costochondritis on one side, I think briefly carrying a toddler did that! I remember when mine were tiny I constantly had aching hips and ribs.

martha79 · 03/03/2026 08:29

@FurForksSake Glad you've treated yourself to some new things!

@CoffeeBeansGalore Glad you got on OK.

Dreadful night's sleep here, and I'm running an all-day online event at work today. Don't feel too bad so far, but it's a long day of concentration ahead.

MewithME · 03/03/2026 08:45

I slept badly too @martha79 . I'm at least working from home today. I tend to sleep badly when I've done too much. It was one of my on site busy days yesterday.

It's remarkable though... I was in bed most of the weekend. It's like I ended last week in winter and this week Spring has sprung. My daffodils and crocuses are out. It's lovely.

Hope you are all as ok as you can be today.

FurForksSake · 03/03/2026 08:56

Gah! Gp has refused to issue a prescription for any pain medication and instead wants a telephone consultation in a few weeks time. That’s not helpful when I’ve basically run out and I’m trying to do a phased return. Issuing the prescription and then saying I need a consultation before the next is fine but refusing to issue and then making me wait weeks to speak to someone is just crap. It’s bloody naproxen and cocodamol it’s not morphine?! So I’ve just filled in a consult form to complain and point out they are leaving me without medication.

MewithME · 03/03/2026 09:00

That's awful. I've had this with BP meds once before and I had the day I needed the meds and would come for review asap after! Not the best start to the day @FurForksSake

FurForksSake · 03/03/2026 09:03

It’s so annoying. The person is a community pharmacist so it’s not even a gp wanting to discuss my diagnosis or anything. They will definitely think I’m drug seeking after my shitty request 🤣

CoffeeBeansGalore · 03/03/2026 09:47

@FurForksSake that's really annoying, and painful. Not fair at all.

Didn't sleep well. Been awake since 3am. Hopefully I'll get some tonight 🤞.

@TodayIsatrickyone Hope your dog is okay.

@martha79 enjoy the new clothes!

Apologies I only scanned through yesterday, wasn't really with it.

Hope everyone has as good a day as possible.

TodayIsatrickyone · 03/03/2026 11:02

Morning, sorry to all those who didn’t sleep well and hope the surgery gets back to you soon @FurForksSake I sometimes think common sense has gone out of the window in GP surgeries at times as a quick call from them would resolve it in a few minutes.

Thanks @CoffeeBeansGalore little dog is feeling very sorry for herself bless her but hopefully lots of rest and she’ll recover soon.

Pretty rubbish night here too.
I had the dogs crate in with me so had half an ear out for her and was up to settle her a couple of times.
I’m full of a cold and my throat was raging in the night so that made it hard to sleep.
Plus DD had a concert and didn’t return til 3 am which I’m not really used to. She is 18 so officially an adult but not quite there in my head yet! So had the other ear listening out for her and kept checking my phone to see where she was as she does put her tracking on for nights out.

So a sofa day here keeping an eye on the dog who is on crate rest for 3 days so I may just start Bridgerton later today.

TeaAndStrumpets · 03/03/2026 12:19

Just admin from the sofa today. I bought a paint card in hope of needing it for the new house. Also a design book for ideas. I am absolutely clueless. Decades living here it's all a bit boring and old fashioned, so a clean slate is very appealing! I'll end up on Home Decoration threads I'm sure.

If that wasn't exciting enough I bought a new gravy ladle! Spend, Spend, Spend! That's me!!

We watched the new Bridgerton last night, not as good as the first few seasons but good for escapism.

FurForksSake · 03/03/2026 13:19

Ooh a gravy ladle! All that sounds very exciting.

GP texted to say they will try and find me a gp appointment following my follow up message asking for medication. So they really, really don’t want to give me some naproxen 🤣

Hope they take pity on you soon!

Well I never knew I needed a gravy ladle either, but mine is too big, with no lip. I only have the diddy ones for sauces. My usual technique of tranferring gravy into a jug is to lift the roasting pan by one corner and pour using the opposite corner, perilously gripping everything in in a silicone glove and a folded tea towel. I am getting cautious in my old age after tipping soup down myself!

My DDs use gravy granules but I like the traditional ways 😁

martha79 · 03/03/2026 16:55

Good luck with getting naproxen soon @FurForksSake

I don't know if I have a gravy ladle - I bought a pack of new kitchen utensils recently as I got new pans and wanted nice new non-scratchy utensils to go with them. I must inspect the ladles. I do know it included a 'spoonula' which was a new word for me!

It's been a long day but very glad for working from home so I could snack, stick ice packs on myself, operate Zoom whilst lying down. I definitely need to switch of screens and zone out for a while now though.

Swanhilde · 03/03/2026 17:16

Home from work and in bed with a cuppa and homemade salty popcorn (my new crack) ☕ 🍿

Still shattered, but of course I was rolling clay slabs on Thursday ... I really cannot get to grips with pem and the delay. Hopefully though that means I should start to feel better tomorrow 🤞

DH is cooking tea and then I'll have another early night. Good luck with the meds @FurForksSake . I have a cancellation to have my ears hoovered on Thursday morning 👂🏼👂🏼

Have a peaceful evening all 💕

FuzzyPuffling · 03/03/2026 18:09

Today I went into town to choose new glasses and this afternoon painted a small wall in the garden.
And then had a nap!

CoffeeBeansGalore · 03/03/2026 18:32

Well so much for doing very little today.
Had a shower, did 3 loads of washing including our duvet cover & pillow cases which I then tumbled & put back on the bed. Put away the dry stuff from the airer before loading it up again. Vacuumed. Then prepped a chicken pasta bake & cooked it in the Ninja when dh got home.
I think I'll be having an early night, & hopefully will sleep!

TeaAndStrumpets · 03/03/2026 18:52

Those slabs sound very tough @Swanhilde. Is there any easy way to press them? Thinking miniature mangle!

@FuzzyPuffling i can delay choosing for years, then I always end up with virtually the same style!

@martha79 spoonula sounds intriguing.

@CoffeeBeansGalore you sound on fire today! So satisfying to do a good wash though!

FuzzyPuffling · 03/03/2026 20:18

I've gone for some turquoise frames. Ooer!

TeaAndStrumpets · 03/03/2026 21:21

Bet they're lovely.

Thank you. I, obviously, liked them!
They're sort of translucent, so not a whopping block of colour on my face!

TeaAndStrumpets · 03/03/2026 22:20

@FuzzyPuffling mine are a sort of pinky bronze . They are an extremely lightweight rimless titanium, spares me a bit of weight from thickish lenses. I have early cataracts and when I finally get them fixed I could theoretically choose good distance vision. I'm not sure how I'd cope with seeing myself with a naked face!

I had my cataracts done last year and it has made an enormous difference to my vision.
The clever surgeon also managed to improve my astigmatism by about 75%- magic! I could just have reading glasses now, but have stuck with varifocals. I no longer need "extra thin" lenses and my lenses are half the price of previously.

And....( fanfare) I can go out in the rain glasses-free and not have that annoying "I need windscreen wipers"! Love it.
