Is anyone else done with Vinted?

I have been a seller for 2.5 years on Vinted, mainly used it for clearing out before I take the charity shop and use the funds to buy things I need in future.
Happy buyers, 5* reviews, I've bought items some fab, some haven't been great but it is what it is.
The past 4ish months it's gone down the pan.
Complete change in sizing which has caused my items listed no be incorrect. Great that you have more opportunity for buyers as they have partnered in USA but which takes forever to get the money due to shipping (you can't turn this option off) and buyers being very fussy, even though you are practically a jumble sale.
I like to sell on Vinted as it's a great way to declutter but it's literally becoming so much more stress than it's worth now.

I buy most of my clothes 2nd hand and really like eBay and Vestiare Collective for designer 2nd hand clothes.

But I only buy natural fibre clothing which helps to filter out cheap polyester tat that people tend to sell overpriced on places like Vinted.

If I want, say, a green dress I might send multiple offers and see what comes back. Then choose which one I think offers best value. Sorry if that offends you - I have limited funds and am trying to get the best that I can for what I have. Shrugs.

Yeah, this is another problem with Vinted. People pissing about doing things like this. On eBay, if you make an offer then you are committing to buy at that price, so if the seller accepts then the money automatically goes out of your account. I find it weird that Vinted doesn’t do that. Nobody has the time for this.

Good manners? Jesus wept. There is no obligation to buy anything from anybody. We can work the site as we see fit. All of us. I never assume an offer will mean a sale because it often doesn’t. It’s not a sale till paid for.

Of course there’s no obligation to buy anything. But if you don’t want to buy it, don’t make an offer.

Good manners are obviously an alien concept to you.

Exactly. Thank you

Well, I make offers on several items which are exactly alike, to see what is going to be the best price.
I don't see why sellers are annoyed about this.

I sell far more than I buy and people do the same to me. It doesn't bother me in the least. That's just how Vinted is.

Because accepting an offer from someone who doesn’t intend to buy it is a real letdown. A different scale, I know, but how would you feel if you accepted an offer on your house and they immediately went off and bought a different house without even bothering to tell you?

I'm not sure that that is a good comparison.
There are laws governing house purchase.

I've stopped using it since the sizing changed. It has all my stuff grouped size 12 - 14. I categorically don't fit a size 12 and I do fit a size 14. I don't want half the things I search for to be things I'm too fat for. It's hard enough finding stuff as it is. So I've given up.

BooneyBeautiful · 02/02/2026 03:07

ForTheForseeable · 31/01/2026 10:24

I may be using it wrong these days but the sizing is a nightmare. I'm looking for size 10 jeans but I have to slog through all size 8 and 10. Why?!?!

I agree! In the last week I have had to ask at least four sellers if their item is a 16 or an 18. Some sellers show a photograph of the label, so that's always handy.

The sizing changes are annoying but id still be lost without vinted
I've got 3 kids and im able to make sure they are well clothed in a way I just would not be able to if I was buying new.
And for me it's great too.
I get some beautiful vintage pieces.
I got a pure wool hand kitted jumper recently that is so beautiful and warm. No way id ever be able to afford items of this quality going into actual shops.
Its also so much quicker to look for specific things you need.
You can think 'I need a blue shirt to wear to work that matches these trousers' and you can search for it and find something suitable so quickly. And you can't do that online even, searching through loads of websites.. takes ages and is tedious and expensive
I live vinted

Yes I’m the same - I’d be lost without Vinted for my kids clothes.

I completely gave up on Vinted but for quite a different reason.

There were a few things I looked for which eventually popped up and I bought them. The packages arrived but, in each instance, the different sellers hadn't a clue how to pack safely and securely. One lovely piece of china, easily over 100 years old, was squeezed into a cardboard box with four sheets of crumpled newspaper. It arrived in pieces.

The seller offered to discount by a third of the price and a gentle haggle with Vinted got my money returned.

It would be lovely to say this was a 'one-off', but it wasn't. I did suggest to Vinted they stress that things are well packed and offer advice and suggestions but in the end it says more about the gormlessness of people today.

This happened to me when I bought a dog ornament, not expensive, came to £10 with postage. Arrived broken, not bubble wrapped, and seller offered £5. Why should I pay anything? I declined and eBay refunded me. I never spend more than £10 on Vinted in case of losses.

Pistachiocake · 01/02/2026 20:42

I used to like those sites but I agree it's too much hassle now. I kind of wish that with all the empty shops we have these days, you could just take things and put them on rails there-almost like a charity shop, except you get vouchers you can spend. As there's lots of people unemployed, some people would be happy to run these. You could get vouchers for dropping stuff off that you could then spend or give to friends to "buy" other things that had been dropped off. This would be more environmentally friendly and a lot less hassle for those of us just selling cheap stuff, who would like the chance to get other clothes, maybe because we've changed size or whatever.

Look for a local clothing swop.

We have one every few months. People get a token for every item they bring and can use the token to buy something that someone else bought in.

I tried a couple of times but it was just far too busy for me.

Frenchcremefraiche · 02/02/2026 07:18

I bought some trainers "in excellent condition". When they arrived they were disgusting. Seller's attitude was "they were cheap. Suck it up buttercup". I opened a case, Vinted ruled in my favour. The seller objected. Vinted changed their mind and let the seller keep the money and refunded me as well.

I couldnt leave a review and the seller is still mis-selling crap.

"It's not a sale til paid for" ... so just pay the money I am asking for, and I will send it to you. Don't come at me with your offers. I honestly don't have the headspace.

If you want to get rid of something why won’t you accept offers? That’s the point of vinted, to make offers. If I want to sell something for £10 I will list it for £13 or £15, someone will offer £10 and I will accept it.
I wanted a dress listed for £6. I offered £5 it was declined, I found something else and bought that. The dress is still not sold months later. Fine the person wants £6 but they don’t have £6 wouldn’t they rather have £5 than £0 ? They can make up that £1 difference on another item they sell.

I genuinely have no issue with it, and struggle to understand the angst. I’d suspect in real life many people don’t or they’d change their model back,

I’ve bought two items this week, and will continue to use it. I’ve bought a lot on there as I lost weight, and the issues have been few, a couple of sellers sent items unwashed and smelly, I launder anyway, but I don’t like that at all and someone sent something stinking of perfume but laundered, I had to wash it three times to get the perfume out. I dislike that too, only once have I had an issue with something not as described out of about 100 odd purchases.

i check sellers reviews, look at the images carefully, look at their other items etc, before buying.

I don’t make offers on vinted as I don’t have time for going back and forth as i’m not on there often; if I see something I want and the price is fair, then I buy it. If it’s priced too high I just scroll on buy. It’s disappointing to find that some people are overpricing items expecting people to put offers in - who has time for that for every item they want to buy?

The person who has listed that dress will have priced it at the price they’re willing to sell it for; if I wanted that dress I’d just pay the asking price for the sake of £1.

pinkswirl · 02/02/2026 08:06

Also I only search for brand new with tags now, after also having received clearly not ‘new’ without tags items.

I think those plastic bags make items smell strange too.

I always overprice things, in the expectation of getting offers.

It's then a treat when someone pays the full price.

You're expected to make offers on Vinted.

TheGoddessAthena · 02/02/2026 08:52

I’ve just had an offer accepted. Dress up at 12.50 for 5 months so I offered a tenner.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 02/02/2026 08:54

I've also just had an offer accepted.

Item on at £15 for 8 months.

I offered £9 and they've accepted.

Rainbowdottie · 02/02/2026 08:57

Tbh I think offers are in the spirit of Vinted. I make offers and I receive offers, tbh I thought that was its charm, that was what it was all about.
in fact I regularly see one seller who puts she doesn’t accept offers. I must see her stuff a lot, I like a certain brand of dress and it’s there that I see her. As soon as I read that, I don’t go any further. She prices her stuff way too high and for me there’s no point looking at her stuff if she’s not going to take an offer. Neither of us are wrong, both of us entitled to a decision not to buy or to sell. But I notice she doesn’t shift much.

What is a full time reseller?

It's my only job, not a side hustle or selling old clothes, a business

I don’t sell but I wouldn’t mind if people made offers.

However there are people on the thread complaining that a) people are making cheeky offers and b) that people are making offers for a very small amount which aren’t worth it, so it seems that you can’t win!
