I have been a seller for 2.5 years on Vinted, mainly used it for clearing out before I take the charity shop and use the funds to buy things I need in future.
Happy buyers, 5* reviews, I've bought items some fab, some haven't been great but it is what it is.
The past 4ish months it's gone down the pan.
Complete change in sizing which has caused my items listed no be incorrect. Great that you have more opportunity for buyers as they have partnered in USA but which takes forever to get the money due to shipping (you can't turn this option off) and buyers being very fussy, even though you are practically a jumble sale.
I like to sell on Vinted as it's a great way to declutter but it's literally becoming so much more stress than it's worth now.

I've recently had a nightmare getting money back from vinted. I sold a bundle for around £30 of small ticket items. It got lost and the buyer was refunded almost immediately. This was in October. I kept reporting that I had not received any money back for it and a very rude agent said that it wasn't their problem and not to ask anymore as she was closing my case- this was after a previous agent had said to wait until the 5th December and I would get the money. I then messaged again last week and I got the money but it was put very clear that this was a good will gesture and not to expect compensation again in the future. It was all very bizarre and as a seller I will not use them again, how can I risk selling higher priced items if there's no guarantee that I will be covered it it's lost by evri etc.

Tbh offers that never went through used to really annoy me. I read a differing view about it on a different forum and tbh it has changed my view on it. I read something along the lines of people are gauging whether you’ll sell that item at X price and then they’ll make a decision. They’re gauging whether you’ll sell at that price. They might like 4 items exactly like yours (made easier now with the picture search option !) and they’re weighing up which one to buy at which price. A bit like you might google a particular item and then shop around a bit before making the decision. They said there’s no point focusing on an item where there’s no movement so sending an offer is gauging that.Weird as someone might find that, it help me with processing the offers situation etc. I now don’t get too caught up in offers…sure if someone sends me an offer of course I hope it comes off, but if it doesn’t, it doesn’t. Similarly it’s bit like really low offers. Some days I don’t accept them, some days if I’m in the mood, or I’m already going to the parcel shop, yes I’ll accept them. But if I do or don’t, I move on from it whatever the outcome. I recently turned down loads of offers on a particular item that were all around the same mark, hanging out for my price which was roughly two to three pounds higher. One day I just took the offer. It suited me that day just to get rid of it.

the not picking up does wind me up, I can’t lie. It’s like buyers regret and they’re happy not to pick up. I think that’s bad of Vinted to allow that to happen really. I really think sellers should get paid after x amount of time, just like they would, if delivered to a home address. I can’t see why a shop address should be any different, as a seller I’ve still done everything required of me whether it’s sent to a shop or a house address. However after many a sale where I’ve had to politely and carefully plead with buyers to pick up an item after say 4/5 days (which I think is a reason amount of time to give someone) I’ve now disabled that option. I only send to home delivery now. Some may say it may lose me sales but I’m happy with that.

I have the opposite and need an 8 and everything is a 10 🤣

Yes, same for me.

CointreauVersial · 01/02/2026 21:25

@Pickledpoppetpickle below a certain value I'm just sending it to the charity shop. And, as others have said, just because you accept a low offer there is no guarantee they will actually buy it. Just grinds my gears.

Netcurtainnelly · 01/02/2026 21:29

Vinted used to ask for feedback
It's sad when the owners are rich not to take on more staff.

PippinKat · 01/02/2026 21:29

Their customer services is beyond shit. All AI. Nearly lost £100 because they wouldn’t look into my case. The only way I could win was to pursue them through my credit card, which I did, successfully. Wouldn’t touch them with a barge pole. Or sell anything worth more than £20.

And to be honest if I’m selling something for under £15, I’d rather give it to a charity shop, than deal with all the crap around buyers and sellers on the make on Vinted.

I sell on eBay, occasionally Amazon, because they have proper customer services if push comes to shove

Exactly

Netcurtainnelly · 01/02/2026 21:33

People should stop using it until they offer customer services.

Yes. Deleted all my ‘For Sale’ items last night.

I am sick of numerous ridiculous offers on New with Tags items already priced at only 40% of original price.

But worse are the lying sellers. Describing things as New without Tags when it is clear as soon as they arrive that they are not. Yesterday’s blouse smelt appalling, and was covered in deodorant marks and stains. Totally different to the photos. Add that the seller had delayed posting to the last possible day and had somehow managed to ship using a different method to that payed for. How that seller had hundreds of five star reviews, I will never know.

I AM DONE

Yep, the new without tags that have obviously been used and stink to high heaven. Been there. They get five stars purely automatically, within two or three days, unless someone deliberately gives them less, which invites retaliation of course. Vinted have a ridiculous “reviews” system.

At least with eBay, you have to actively give a review, or not.

DeltaVariant · 01/02/2026 21:42

For cheap kids stuff no it’s still decent value with bundles. For me - it’s hard work with the size change and useless search function/filters

freakingscared · 01/02/2026 21:42

I only ever bought on vinted and I only started last month . Made about 50 buys and all great apart from today where I received a clothes item that absolutely smells vile ! I mean I washed it and it still smells vile . It wasn’t one of those for just a few pennies either so left me a bit annoyed

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 01/02/2026 21:46

A few weeks ago I bought a pair of jogging bottoms.

The seller didn't send them, so I gave her a bad review. It wasn't the only one! Her average was only 4.3.

Anyway, she messaged me and said she'd still send them (as she had the label) and when I got them, would I amend the review.

They finally arrived. I had to put them straight in the bin, they were in such poor condition. Usually if things are poor, I let the charity shop have them, but I couldn't with these. They weren't even the trousers from her photos.

She's still pestering me to amend the first review, but I'm ignoring her now.

TBF this is just about the only bad experience I've had.

PippinKat · 01/02/2026 21:54

In 20 years of eBay I’ve only had two very slightly poor experiences. In 6 weeks of buying on Vinted I had two VERY nasty experiences.

I rest my case …..

Vinted’s AI is appalling and not fit for purpose. I wish the only ill.

TitsInAbsentia · 01/02/2026 21:57

I've gone back to selling on ebay. I don't sell that often but tend to hold things up to sell together, hence I like the fact I know when I've got to pack things up and send them, whereas with vinted you never know when you will sell. Ebay is a lot better know with seller paying postage etc. I just had to remember to turn off the 'offers' option on my listings.

I've bought a lot of vintedin the past but the whole size change just made it a chore looking for things.

PickledElectricity · 01/02/2026 22:00

I might have to give eBay another go. My mum was a prolific seller in my childhood/teenage years. Nothing in our house was safe!

I used to use Vinted for a variety of things and when I was pregnant with my first baby nearly 4 years ago I could buy big bundles for cheap, opt out of the seller protection fees and get things sent to the corner shop for £2. It was brilliant.

Now it's an absolute slog. Even things that are cheap you end up paying double once fees etc are added on and I just CBA anymore. I've been taking things directly to the charity shop but maybe I'll try eBay once baby #2 is out of his current size.

They are on a yellow card with me as a buyer. Was poised ready to start selling this month, but I’m seeing how my issue gets resolved first….

I bought an alleged RL purple label shirt, which RM delivered to a different address so I did the pause ‘I have an issue’ whilst I tracked it down. I emailed support to say I’d found it, and would be picking up that night (phew). VINTED ONLY DECIDED UNILATERALLY TO RELEASE THE FUNDS TO THE COUNTERFEITING SELLER AT THAT POINT. Soon as I saw it I knew it was a fake, and a bad one. Vinted frontline support just shrugged and said it’s too late we released the funds… I’m now down a chunk of cash and have a poor quality fake item. After eight days of stonewalling the seller admitted it was a fake and asked for my bank details to give a partial refund?! Like I would do that. I have no idea what the buyers fee is actually for. I’ve complained to legal@Vinted so will see what they say, but their systems are not fit for purpose if counterfeit fake goods are sold so easily and dupe buyers!

”LegalVinted” were shite, little better than AI. It was “ computer says no”, closely followed by “your case is closed)”. Arses.

Even though the case certainly wasn’t closed, as far as I was concerned. Appalling customer services.

I then had to fight Vinted through the credit card charge backguarantee system, and after a stressful few months, I finally got my money back. Never again.

Good luck 🍀 with your issue though

Strawberries4days · 01/02/2026 22:10

I normally use vinted to shift through my kids toys and give them the money back after birthdays/Xmas. Just as little pocket money with toys that they don't play with anymore.
Very honest descriptions, would never post "as new" or "new without labels" etc and keep it low. I still get daft amount of offers that I had to put a "Read my description" title saying I'm not reducing anymore!! The favourites also doesn't do me justice as they just save and carry on while I'm just waiting to shift it! I'm having it up for a other month before I do the charity shop run and give my kid their money that I promised. I'm debating on closing the account and moving to eBay if it's easier for sellers 🙈

PippinKat · 01/02/2026 22:28

@SurferRona go through your bank chargeback system if necessary. I got my £100 back. re. a “new@ lol stinky handbag.

Chargeback was the only way I could get £ back from a scummy seller who lied about a return and knew the timing ropes of Vinted to get my refund revoked by saying a handle was missing (a complete lie).

But it was sooooooo stressful I wouldn’t go through that again.

Doggymummar · 01/02/2026 22:31

I'm a full time reseller and dumped vinted in September as a seller, I never bought off there. My items were all cross listed, eBay and vinted. In nine months I sold £900 on vinted and over £10k on eBay. eBay was slow to build up sales but afte4 th3 first 500 it really started to fly. I had a problem on Friday and someone from eBay called my mobile within three minutes and we fixed it. Customer service is real people 24/7 would not use v again

Sheldonsheher · 01/02/2026 22:43

What is a full time reseller?

babyproblems · 01/02/2026 22:44

I Love it but am in Europe!! I make a lot of money on vinted.
I get the impression from afar that the uk version is a bit of a shitshow.

babyproblems · 01/02/2026 22:45

@Sheldonsheher someone who buys and resells items as their job - ie professional, a business.

ImDoneOnceAndForAll2 · 01/02/2026 22:49

Can you add a picture of the label size and state the size and even measurements in the ad so it is very clear to the buyer?
