True crime podcasts

Hoping I can get some recommendations..

I listen to a lot of true crime podcasts. Usually ones covering a particular case per episode or two.

I really enjoy true crime or interesting conspiracy documentaries.

Can anyone recommend any true crime podcasts series or one offs that cover just one case or event… like a deep dive over several episodes or one long episode?

Thanks!

Have you listened to Bone Valley? That's excellent. True Crime Conversations is an Australian one that I like, different story covered in every episode. Lines of Enquiries is an Irish one and very good too.

My Favourite Murder is the only true crime podcast that I listen to. It’s not a genre that I naturally lean towards but MFM is so much more that. It’s grown very organically over 10 years and the hosts Georgia & Karen are brilliant. I started listening about 8 years ago - now 100% a murderino.

The Forgotten Dead and Bad Women on BBC Sounds are brill!

Assume Nothing on BBC Sounds.

I used to listen to psychopedia a lot, I would recommend starting from the beginning. I'm listening to alan carrs life's a beach at the moment but that is most definitely not true crime.

your own backyard for a series.

i sometimes listen to redhanded, but the older ones are better. Not a huge fan of the presenters anymore.

Bear Brook podcast is brilliant - I listened to it because I saw a recommendation from Stephen King on X!

Fairy Meadow and The Doorstep Murder on BBC Sounds are good too.

MrLarsonsNailGun · 30/01/2026 20:33

Proof
Serial
In the Dark

All absolutely brilliant.

The Walk Among us is very good

Casefile is outstanding but you either love it or hate it. The narrator is very measured and undramatic and they focus a lot on the victims ...

heartsinvisiblefury · 30/01/2026 20:38

I could murder a podcast and red handed are excellent

I like history and crime podcasts. I'll omit the history ones obv... but here are my crime pods in no particular order -

UK true crime podcast
Truly Criminal
True crime (Kendall Rae)
The true crime enthusiast (v. good IMO)
RedRum true crime
Canadian true crime.
and of course the all time greats -
They walk among us
Casefile.

I think that's enough to get you going! I don't like podcasts with more than one presenter, any genre - as it seems the banter is all about them and I always wish they'd just shut up and get on with the CRIME! I also prefer episodes longer than 30 minutes if I can get them!

The Witness in his own words. I listened on Spotify it's maybe on other platforms too? Brilliant account of a young boy who was groomed into a life of crime living in a poor part of Dublin. It's gripping and sad.

I second Fairy Meadow, also like inside Murder Trial, both are a few episodes covering one crime. I also liked Sweet Bobby and the romance scam series voiced by Vicki Pattison (can't remember the name). I also like supernatural ones like Witch Farm and Uncanny with Danny Robbins. Not true crime but still really interesting.

There are hundreds but does anyone have any suggestions for ones without background music? It drives me insane as I use them to fall asleep to but any with music just makes me so tense and anxious I really fail to see how music in the background helps anyone, same with documentaries.

deflatedbirthday · 30/01/2026 21:25

Thank you so much! I’m a huge huge red handed fan so I’m up to date with that. I’m two episodes in of Bone Valley and I’m hooked!

Strange But True Crime on BBC Sounds or Spotify. Some really bizarre crimes!
