True crime podcasts

Hoping I can get some recommendations..

I listen to a lot of true crime podcasts. Usually ones covering a particular case per episode or two.

I really enjoy true crime or interesting conspiracy documentaries.

Can anyone recommend any true crime podcasts series or one offs that cover just one case or event… like a deep dive over several episodes or one long episode?

Thanks!

The Witness in his own words. I listened on Spotify it's maybe on other platforms too? Brilliant account of a young boy who was groomed into a life of crime living in a poor part of Dublin. It's gripping and sad.

I was just going to recommend this one too. It's so sad.

AntintheShire · 06/05/2026 16:59

Great recommendations! I've listened to a few of these so glad to see i'm in good company :)

My favourites are definitely ... Death in Ice Valley and Strange But True Crime. Both offer something different.

I think Strange But True Crime is brilliant for any time and it's not gruesome or sad. It's kinda funny crimes and honestly, the host is so great. Her name is Rima and she just makes me want to continue listening all the time, haha.

I[m 99% sure that Casefile is an AI narrator (the pronunciation of foreign words give it away). I can[t be doing with that, personally.

If you listen to early episodes and also one where he does an interview, he sounds much more natural. He changed his voice a while ago to make himself more anonymous. It took me a while to get used to his voice. But he tells the stories so well that I powered through and now find the robotic monotone soothing 😂

Case file was the first crime podcast I listened to and I agree he definitely changed his tone. In earlier episodes im sure he apologised for not getting some pronunciations right. Casefile has been going 10 years now and one of the first I believe really popular true crime podcasts.
He has covered some really interesting stories but there has been a couple that I couldn't listen to they were that horrific.

I like true crime island. Cambo may not be everyone's taste and he is a bit sweary
but I like his show.

Extraordinary stories is great. It's not all crime and the narrator is as mad as a bag of frogs ( in a good way)

Redrum is good. ( I won't tell you how long it took me to notice the title!!l)

The miami chronicles- Booby trap is a one case series. Was really good. It's a few years since I listened to it but im going to go back to it. At first I thought it was a straightforward case but it got complex.

Hunting Warhead is an incredible but dark story about how a paedophile ring was broken on the dark Web. It was a global affair to get the culprits.

The Nobody Zone is another one that is a stand a lone story over several episodes about an Irish man who may or not have been a seriel killer who claimed.ed he pushed peoe on to the tracks of the underground.

Casefile is outstanding but you either love it or hate it. The narrator is very measured and undramatic and they focus a lot on the victims ...

Heavens!
I must be a sociopath 😮 Ive listened to every episode od Casefile and never thought any if them to be too brutal or disturbing. I loved around 95% of them.

For those of you who enjoy Casefile, there is also the lesser know Casefile Presents.

It was the Leigh Leigh case that I found incredibly hard to listen to.
Also Anita Corby case where they rolled her in barbed wire and all the puncture marks they and stab wounds they did to her before nearly decapitation her.
As I listen to a story I often visualise it.
I dont like the horror but I want to know who did it, why and how they were caught.

Phoebes Fall is incredible. It’s from Australia but definitely worth a listen. So many questions still unanswered.

I used to listen to that last year and forgot about it. I need to start again as I enjoyed that one.

Military murders is good with Margot but I have to be in the mood as she is full on and is like a whirlwind!

I agree. I listen to loads of true crime podcasts and Seeing Red is my favourite. Mark who is one of the presenters also does a solo podcast called Dead Famous which is also brilliant.

I'm a huge Casefile fan - it was the first podcast I ever listened to - and also had to stop listening during the Leigh Leigh episode. It's otherwise brilliant: factual, respectful with no inane blabbering, and builds the story up to allow a bit of edge-of-seat tension!

Sweet Bobby and Death in Ice Valley were two very good series, each about one case.

Will be listening to a few other suggestions on this thread 🙂

ITriedToStopSwearingButICunt · 07/05/2026 08:08

DIL enjoys Morning Cup of Murder which is about 10 minutes long and just right for her walk to work!

EvolvedAlready · 07/05/2026 14:14

I just put on Case file Dianne Babcock…. It’s AI narrated? What the heck???

According to AI, Casefile is not AI!
I read an interview with ' Casey' the anonymous host a while back about how the show become more polished and professional sounding from how it started.

From what I recall, he started doing for something to do while recovering from a leg injury but the podcast grew bigger than he expected. As it became global, it became more professional sounding.
To be honest, I thought the old style was fine.
