Just that. Interested to see if anyone says what I'm thinking...

Perm in Western Siberia. City of several million, one American Diner serving horrible food. Millions of mosquitos.

ResusciAnnie · 25/01/2026 13:57

Stockport but I was with some very boring people.

I’m rarely actually bored but I could only do 4 days max on a beach hol before going stir crazy.

ThatWasMyLastFatFreeFrush · 25/01/2026 13:58

Fort William. Or to be more exact a small village near it.

Oh, a holiday destination....Dominican Rebublic. Definitely.

I would agree. Dh and I went and found it dreadful. Just geared up to American tourists, all very over the top and fake and everything was a massive rip off. Plus the tipping culture.
We did some snorkelling which was the highlight, really great experience but other trips and tours we went on were just all pretty dull. Would not recommend and would not ever return.

Birmingham

Nevermind17 · 25/01/2026 13:59

Milan. Admittedly it has a spectacular cathedral and a very boujee Trafford Centre, but that’s as much as I could see. People rave about it so there’s obviously a lot that I missed but I couldn’t find it!

Kalebstractor · 25/01/2026 14:00

Loved Valencia, although it was very humid. And captivated by the Alhambra but European history and art fascinates me.

ChocolateCinderToffee · 25/01/2026 14:00

Budapest. Unless you want to get off your tits every night, there’s very little to do.

EarlofShrewsbury · 25/01/2026 14:00

Portmeirion. It looks lovely but the reality is all the buildings are hotel rooms. There are 2 shops selling overpriced homewares and a couple of places to eat. There isn't actually anything to do and it only takes about an hour to walk round the whole place.

JohnBetjeman · 25/01/2026 14:00

Slough

Didcot Railway centre.

Noooo!

I used to volunteer there and it's great. Lovely little (accredited!) museum, fascinating bits of railway memorabilia round and about, entire sheds of historic railway carriages awaiting restoration, conveniently located bang next to Didcot Railway Station, and it's got trains (steam and otherwise) Admittedly the line's REALLY short.

lilybit2025 · 25/01/2026 14:01

Center Parcs. Friends forced me there. Was the most dull weekend I've ever had.

Wintersgirl · 25/01/2026 14:01

Not boring (well I think it is!) but my PIL live near Burley in the New Forest, there's a weird vibe there that's suffocating. there is a lot of black magic that happens around there too, we visited them a couple of weeks ago and went to the village pub, we sat by the window and I watched a car go up the hill and out of the village, I couldn't wait to do the same.....odd place

NeverDropYourMooncup · 25/01/2026 14:02

Glastonbury in the pissing rain.

One street, an exorbitantly priced cafe, a Boots and soggy, scowling locals. Highlight of the week was the bus in the rain to the nearest discount shopping area - mainly because it also meant we were on the way home.

Carnac in France, drove about an hour to get there and it’s literally just a field full of fairly small stones!

Carnac has a beautiful town centre and a wonderful beach.
The stones are nearby.

Would you mind elaborating? I am a Winter Woman and absolutely hate heat. I would choose Alaska, Canada, NYC in February etc etc. You'd think Iceland would be high on the list... but for some reason (nothing to do with expense) Iceland just doesn't grab me and I don't know why!

It was so barren, Reykjavik was quite boring and I just kept waiting for it to get pretty and better and it didn’t. The landscape was alright, it wasn’t as pretty as I had imagined…it’s probably a “me” problem tbh. I was just so underwhelmed it was very “meh”

Madformaltesers · 25/01/2026 14:03

Berlin as a city break
Jamaica as a sunny holiday

Kneenightmare · 25/01/2026 14:03

Did an Australia trip years ago which I loved except for Warrnambool, Adelaide on a Monday night (everywhere was deserted and closed early) and Canberra. I’m sure the time you visit, your expectations and other random circumstances impact your views though.

Loved Iceland. Fab people, interesting country. Took DS age 18 and he rated it too. We went in early Sept, had t shirt weather and got the northern lights.

lilybit2025 · 25/01/2026 14:03

Munich. Everything is grey and painfully colourless.

Samanthajane5 · 25/01/2026 14:04

Yeah Berlin is very bland, as cities go.

LampHat · 25/01/2026 14:04

Norfolk 🫣

CharlotteByrde · 25/01/2026 14:04

Valencia is great. It's not remotely dull. Mull is gorgeous, though the weather can be rough. Definitely not boring if you're interested in wildlife.

Okayfenokay · 25/01/2026 14:04

Dubai.

Its my absolute favourite place but now because of my hernia and my child's lifelong illness we can no longer go, so instead we watch tours on YouTube from the comfort of the sofa! Perfect!

I love it too. The building is fabulous just on it's own. I like to imagine it empty when I'm there, I think it would be quite eerie.
