If you had to pick a song and only one that made you think of your kids, what would it be ?

DS - Can’t fight the feeling by Justin Timberlake- that was such a lovely summer, and he loved that song. also Arthur’s Song - I used to sing it to him as a lullaby
DSS1 - The whole of the moon - we used to change the lyrics to sing “I saw the whole of DSS1s name moon” as he was always strutting around nude when he was little.. he’d be mortified at the thought now!
DSS2 - Bad Habits by Ed Sheeran, it was even his ringtone!
DSD in happy times, Roar by Katie Perry she loved it.. Now, Sorry seems to be the hardest word by Elton John Sad

All of them - Macarena - such funny times them all learning the dance after Hotel Transylvania 3 came out

Shape of my heart by the backstreet boys. It was playing the day I had my son

herewegoagain432 · 12/01/2026 21:58

Tori Amos - ribbons undone

HeartyViper · 12/01/2026 21:58

You are my sunshine.

I spent so many hours in the night holding them and singing this.. youngest at nearly 5 crawls onto my lap, asks for little sunshine and a head rub. It takes me right back to my babies in my arms ❤️

giveyourselfapresent · 12/01/2026 22:02

Catch the Wind by Donovan. For some reason when they were little we'd acquired a Donovan CD and played it at dinnertime most days. They both loved it. I randomly heard it the other day and it took me straight back.

OneLimeDuck · 12/01/2026 22:43

After this morning's getting out the door shenanigans I think it would be Manic Monday 😀

I will say that anyone who is a Father with a daughter (or two) who does not feel emotional at the lyrics of Father and Daughter by Paul Simon must have something wrong with them.

peacefulpeach · 12/01/2026 23:03

Daft Punk - Get Lucky, it was always on in the car when they were little and we were going swimming / primary school / friends etc

ABBA - Slipping through my fingers. 😢 Teens now..

Pallisers · 12/01/2026 23:07

I used to sing You Are My Sunshine to mine too.

I'd probably also put in "What We Did For Love" from chorus line because I have a lovely memory (and video) of dd2 singing this at her final school concert, dedicating it to her classmates.

StarDolphins · 12/01/2026 23:08

Today it would be ‘what a little f*ing madam’. Not sure on the artist.

When the days are better it would be Jolene as she used to sing it all the time and knew all the words and iT used to melt my heart!

NotMyRealAccount · 12/01/2026 23:08

Ally Bally Bee.
Donald, where's yer troosers?
Bad for Good, which they loved belting out in the car.

HoobleDooble · 12/01/2026 23:11

I'll Stand by You by The Pretenders. My DS is ND and I have had to fight his corner every day and will go on doing so.

Pineapplesunshine · 12/01/2026 23:20

(Thank you for the) Days by the Kinks, for me.
They played it during the end of reception assembly for one of my kids and I thought I was going to ugly cry there and then. I’m not normally emotional about the kids growing up at all, but whenever I hear that song now I feel it well up. So, maybe a bit too soppy ☺️.
Otherwise, ‘You don’t know you’re beautiful’ by One Direction because it was big when my kids were at nursery and they always used to come out singing it.

FatCalvesThinPatience · 12/01/2026 23:32

Bohemian Rhapsody
I randomly play it, we could be anywhere and off we go... we've had a couple of randoms join in with the shennanigans!

FourForksSake · 12/01/2026 23:38

(3 is) The Magic Number by De La Soul. Because it absolutely is.

And any number of nonsense songs. Hot Potato by the Wiggles, Donald Where’s Your Troosers, My Old Man’s a Dustman etc. Happy days.

onelittleclara · 12/01/2026 23:44

For all my three DC, Bob Marley- Three little birds. They also had individual songs they had for bedtime. You are my sunshine, Moon River and Sleep My Little One Sleep (an old lullaby). Guaranteed to burst into tears if Three Little Birds comes on the radio as they all teens now, and one already at uni.

pnutter · 12/01/2026 23:47

stop the cavalry - Jonah Lewie (sp?) from Christmas pasts when they were little

onwardandupwards · 12/01/2026 23:48

The chin up song from Charlotte's Web, all of them absolutely love that song

laughingalltheay · 12/01/2026 23:52

diana Ross - when you tell me that you love me

PinkNeonSign · 12/01/2026 23:55

Every photomontage/slideshow type thing they ever did an my children’s school and nursery was always done to Bruno Mars, Count on Me 😭

LadyGAgain · 12/01/2026 23:57

schnubbins · 12/01/2026 13:16

I Hope You Dance Lee Anne Womack

bittertwisted · 13/01/2026 00:22

bittertwisted · 13/01/2026 00:24

I’m a scouse girl with 3 sons

nepkoztarsasag · 13/01/2026 00:30

Gravel pit, by the Wu-Tang Clan

Piknik · 13/01/2026 00:48

DS Dancing in the Moonlight - Toploader. He thinks he's super cool and mostly listens to Rap, but he can't help himself if Toploader comes on.

DD Never Tear us Apart - Paloma Faith. We used to sing it in the car and she always loved the drama of it.

Both of them: This is the Life - Amy McDonald. Another one that's been absolutely rinsed in the car. And Holy Grail - Jay-Z & Justin Timberlake. The one song where I would turn a blind ear to sweary-words.
