Because in my mind I am still 37, it hasn't occurred to me that actually, this year, there is a load of free shit I can get when I'm 60!

Pls inform me of what I can benefit from. Buses? Trains?

Senior railcard. Costs cheaper if you buy a 3 year one. Makes train travel much more affordable. Buy one when you are going to make a trip to make the most of the 12 months.
some places do let you in as a senior rate at 60 but you usually have to ask.

60s here. You get a discount on National Trust membership! Might apply to other memberships too - always check.

You can get cheap tickets and tea and biscuits at the Odeon at certain times.

I live in London so have the freedom pass which I use all the time.

Depends where in the UK you live.

In Scotland free bus and discounted ferry travel at 60. Prescriptions, eye tests and dental check ups are free for everyone.

Senior railcard?

I cannot deny, a European river cruise does call to me. But that has been the case since I was in my forties. Which has not happened, obvs, because I am 37.

Yes I am also going to be 60 this year. I can’t actually believe it. I will get my HRT for free and a small pension from my first job. But that’s about it. Unlike our Mothers we still have 7 years before full pension age. Luckily I like my job and I think it keeps me younger….

In my London borough I will get 50% off gym or golf membership at the council run facilities when I turn 60 shortly.

You can also start taking money from a private pension, including taking a tax free lump sum.

Everyman cinema has seniors’ screenings for 60+, iirc the ticket is slightly cheaper, plus they throw in a nice cup of tea and a biscuit a hot drink and a hulking slice of cake.

There is no private pension scenario.

Look out for local things too. A couple of shops in my town give 10% off to over 60s one or two days a week. I got a reduced entry ticket to a small museum last summer.

What you will get without asking is a load of junk mail trying to sell you cruises and health insurance.

Buy a senior railcard using Tesco vouchers. Get it linked to an Oyster card and the discount then applies if you use that instead of contactless @WinterGardening
