Because in my mind I am still 37, it hasn't occurred to me that actually, this year, there is a load of free shit I can get when I'm 60!

Pls inform me of what I can benefit from. Buses? Trains?

I've been putting HRT off. I think this might be the year I do it!

Don't put it off any longer! Start before it's too late to reap some of the benefits.

Massive protective health benefits. Research shows better than statins at reducing BP, heart disease and cardiac events. It's a licensed treatment for osteoporosis and reduces the risk of dementia.

Get yourself to the Balance Menopause website. Start reading and listen to all the podcasts. The very first one pretty much says it all.

Wait WHAT??!!!

We had an under 5 still when DH turned 60. He was very torn about how to spend all his Parenting Club and over 60s points.

Wait, what. Free HRT? I have only been vaguely thinking about HRT. That is so cool.

Yes! Free prescriptions at 60. Give HRT a serious consideration x

I am 60 in November this year. As we know and feel, age is just a number. But what can I get? Nothing!

No bus pass, no Fuel allowance, no free private health care, no letter from the King.

I hope you get what you want!

We should start 1966 club!

Wait WHAT??!!!

Exactly. I never knew this. How does it work??

NauseaWaves · 09/01/2026 22:35

NHS dentures and tenalady pads?

Miranda65 · 09/01/2026 22:36

If you are in Merseyside, you can get a "twirly" card (for free bus and train travel).

You can get s senior railcard (you pay for it, but you get discounts on train travel.

Can't think of anything else.

Let’s do it! A brilliant year to be born. I don’t know, but something special happened xx

Do you know what, though? That term now invokes me with a seriousness I have never had 😆

That's the spirit - the m word that follows senior is 'management' not 'moment' 😀

Well not quite free (soz) but you can buy an annual HRT PPC for a set price (around £19.80).

My GP gives me a year worth on one prescription.

GoldenGail · 09/01/2026 22:47

WeaselsRising · 09/01/2026 21:17

Nothing, unless you are in London.

No, tell a lie, you can get free prescriptions. That is it.

Depends where you live, In Scotland a free pass for buses anywhere in the country and concessions almost everywhere. Prescriptions of course still free as for everyone of any age

MNLurker1345 · 09/01/2026 22:50

I am of the £19.80 HRT pre paid prescription club. But now I know I can soon get it for free, happy days!

MNLurker1345 · 09/01/2026 22:53

My original post was maybe a little cynical, but now I am seeing that there are benefits to be had.

I did not realise I was old. Class of 66!

It did indeed!

PermanentTemporary · 09/01/2026 23:03

I also long for a European river cruise. If you set up a 1966 cruising club and block book a boat, dp can join and it will be extremely youthful. Relatively.

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 09/01/2026 23:05

I was 60 last month - googled what you can get a while ago & there’s more than just free prescriptions but because I’m getting old, I can’t remember what lol 😂

LighthouseLED · 09/01/2026 23:06

Arran2024 · 09/01/2026 21:28

You can also start taking money from a private pension, including taking a tax free lump sum.

You don’t need to be 60 for that - 55, going up to 57 in 2028

Eyesopenwideawake · 09/01/2026 23:07

If you ask nicely your OH can buy you a Skydiving gift voucher for your 60th.

60 in April. I only have one item on prescription but, hey, I may as well get it for free! I have pensions with Barclays and the NHS so looking forward to these. I too feel about 37!

OMG, your post gave me palpitations. But I think that was your intention!

Snaletrale · 09/01/2026 23:17

I’d join a 1966 club. We rock!

Aavalon57 · 09/01/2026 23:18

I’ll be 60 in two weeks! 😱😱🫩

I’m in London and discovered I can get a number of visitor parking permits for free from my local council, so if you live somewhere that’s all permit parking, it’s worth checking.
