Does anyone still support this Labour government?

PutTheCakeDOWN · 28/12/2025 12:24

I know NO ONE in real life who still sticks up for them (apart from my mother, and she would support Labour even if KS owned up to creating Covid). Apart from that, all quiet on the western front.

I haven’t seen any support on here, or SM for weeks now.

Is it my algorithm bubble, or are people genuinely disappointed with them? I don’t think it can be the algorithms though, as until a few weeks ago there were still words of support popping up.

For full disclosure I think this government is a total shitshow intent on dismantling British culture, and taxing the private sector to death in order to pay for the public sector. With no long term plan once the private sector is squeezed totally dry. I am BEYOND disappointed with them.

That’s the issue, or one of them, people are stressed for good reason. It’s not the media or whatever it’s real impact on jobs etc

There are more reasons there are issues with job market etc. Current government might be one of them, but not as significant as what is going on in the US, war in Ukraine, Brexit and other shit.

No one I know is stressed more than usual btw. Life goes on.

I’m pleased to hear you’re a “really person”.

The facts are on my side. Your party ran, and runs, a giant lie machine.

Can you demonstrate where Johnson didn’t preside over big transfers of funds to friends and family? And didn’t lie to the late queen? And how Truss didn’t cause an economic disaster?

cardibach · 28/12/2025 18:36

the numbers haven’t increased. It’s incredibly sad that anyone takes their own life. It’s utterly repugnant to use it to push your political viewpoint.

I can’t believe you’re still arguing this. Just visit Google for 5 mins.

Im not replying to you about this anymore as I actually find it quite upsetting that people can be so wilfully callous. Sobor iawn.

Didn't Labour initially say an inquiry into the grooming gangs wasn't necessary?

The person who they appointed to do a review said she didn’t think it was necessary, so they agreed. After her review she said it was necessary. So they did one. Tories didn’t action any of the points of a review they commissioned.

Thortour · 28/12/2025 18:40

Yes.

It could be the people you know and sector you’re in, I wouldn’t be surprised if Labour are relying on the public sector still for example.

It’s not going to be the case everywhere. You only have to look at job threads on here for a start.

So 9 pages in it seems pretty clear that yes, a good portion of people do in fact support this govt.

I don’t think they are perfect by a long way, but the Tories turned into the biggest car crash imaginable (national debt tripled)
and reform are, let’s face it, a bunch of rancid, rather stupid and disorganised racists. A govt formed by them would be nothing less than a skip fire of epic proportions, so yes on balance, I support this govt.

What spite? No suicides were caused by the change to IHT on farms as it hasn’t come in yet - plus if you fear IHT surely you try to live longer? Don’t talk nonsense.

Keir Starmer was questioned about the possibility of farmer suicide here. I don't normally post clips but please do watch this because it seems like you have no idea.

m.youtube.com/watch?v=UTsrZ5pj2eM

This is direct from him. And it is extremely obvious that if you implement any kind of inheritance tax change, you literally have to do it immediately or people will commit suicide in advance of it happening. Living longer is not going to solve the problem!

I can't get over what a crazy thing that is to say.

I don’t think that’s true actually. It’s small minority that actually seems happy with them, and overwhelming majority range from mildly disappointed to furious.

I would ask if the weather at Matthew Parker St is as cold as it is here, but I would hope they let you WFH on a Sunday at least, OP.

I'm not enthralled with the choices on offer. I am fairly centrist on most issues.

Why do Labour always go for this? Surely they know the polling and how low support is anyway. You can’t expect SM to not reflect that low support.

The Time gap allowed farmers to succession plan.
Edit: how did farms manage before the exemption came in? It’s within living memory.

themadhat · 28/12/2025 19:02

HATE HATE HATE!! I didn't vote for them though. I hate what they have done to the older generation, the farmers, plans for the countryside, don't even get me started on the budget!! I can hand on heart say I've never hated a government so much! The sooner they are out the better imo.

No it is true whether you can accept it or not.

Your thread, OP states that no one at all supports this govt. yet it’s clear from reading the thread that a decent portion do.
And the most vociferous ones that disprove of it, are making multiple posts.

So go back and count them upSmile

bluesky9 · 28/12/2025 19:05

Im a lifelong Labour voter and was an activist during the Thatcher years. Starmer has hugely disappointed me , as has the government overall, apart from Streeting and Philips. Gordon Brown remains hugely underrated. However, what depressed me most about the Tories over the last 15 years was the utter debasement of public service that he, his government, and his successors committed. Makes me sick frankly.

FWIW, I'm an ex-Labour member, now Green. That doesn't stop the obvious being obvious, though.

Of course not. On every thread that’s not pro Labour someone will post as you did. If you think it’s the case take it up with mnhq.

Ahappyplaty · 28/12/2025 19:09

No I don’t support Labour and I hope the back benchers see the light after Starmers Boxing Day tweets and start realising how bad Starmer is.

Starmer, Lammy and Cooper are ‘delighted’ that a man who tweets about hating Jews, calls himself a terrorist, wants to murder police officers, hates gays, agrees with the rape of women, hates white people and thinks more people should be killed by suicide bombs has been brought to the U.K. by Labour.

Starmer and co were apparently working on his release (from an Egyptian jail) since they got elected. They think importing this chap is wonderful news.

Of course they are now claiming they were not aware of his views. Are they Liars or highly inept?

I will never vote Labour. They are at best incompetent for not realising this man’s background or more likely complicit.

Luckily or perhaps unluckily for Labour it’s votes that count not pro Labour on mn. Let’s see re May elections.

Nope. Hate this government more than I have ever hated a government in my life. Seriously concerned about the way this country is heading into a socialist dystopia.

Why? What do you mean 'socialist dystopia??
